If the Head has a tuner out, then use that. If not then do like the fine chap above says & put it 1st.

Newcastle's a great place really, but you probably know that by now. Have a smooth move.
When I was with the guys from Ibanez Japan a few weeks back they pronounced the I as eye-ban-ezz
I'm actually relieved to hear that as that's what I've called it for the past 30 years.
Aguilar will always be 'ag-will-arr' to me!
+1 & Lâkland is actually pronounced "Lacky Land". They come from the land of the Lackies (Google lacky if you don't believe me).
-
OK then, how abuot Ibanez? Someone said it should be Eb-ahn-eff (Spanish pronounciation), but I said they're Japanese, so pronounced Ibby.
Moog EP-2 is always an option.
EP2 is a very good pedal & having a "sensitivity" pot at the side is a very useful thing. Still don't understand why they've went up by over £10 in the past year.

The best place to look is in the "For Sale" section on here. A lot of good stuff for whatever budget & usually at decent prices. I went with a Markbass combo as it weighs very little. I carry bass over my shoulder, combo in one hand & pedal board in the other.
-
There's a whole host of stuff, from old (& new) valve combos from the likes of Ampeg, SWR, Ashdown & Mesa Boogie to Solid State lightweight stuff from Markbass, GenzBenz, TC Electronics, etc. Depends on your budget.

From the look of things, I take it the drivers are ceramic jobbies? If so, then that's about average prices for non neo cabs is it not?
Signal Path : Bass-> Ibanez TS9-DX (with Keeley Mod)-> ISP Decimator G-String-> Amp - FX Send-> Boss TU-2-> Boss CE-5-> Boss AW-3-> Boss OC-3-> BBE Opto Stomp-> ISP Decimator (Again)-> FX Return only thing i'm looking to add is a Boss DD-7 but i don't really see me ever having a use for one so for now it will have to stay a fantasy
That's an interesting & unusual signal chain, using the fx loop is even more odd (but I suppose that's what it's for ). If that's what gets "Your" sound, then that's what counts.

Wheelbarrow? Only messing. How about a Sansamp or a Blowtorch? Gainy pre amps.
Nope I'm not getting the restraint bit. What's the problem then??
Ashdown are known for having a "Muddy" sound. Some folk like it, some don't. Like everyone else says, it sounds like either a set up problem or a fault with the combo. Adding a 15 should increase your volume a bit, but it's a mismatched cab & becomes a weak link. Adding another MAG 4x10 would be the matching cab & should give you more low end than adding a 15 would. I'd see if there's any BCers (folk on here) local to you that can come along to a gig or rehearsal & check things out.
-
Yup. Although it might be not as loud as the combo.

If you're new to FX, then I always recommend getting a 1/2 decent multi fx unit. That way you get to find out what does what & get an idea of what you want, though if you're buying individual pedals 2nd hand on here & don't like something, then you can move it on with little to no loss.

I was looking at Catalinbread pedals today & saw that. I'd imagine it'd be pretty good, but I've never tried any of their pedals. is the Malekko B:assmaster too big? Infact, I don't see why Max wouldn't be able to whip the circuitry from whatever octave pedal you wanted & combine it with the Micro Fuzz in one box.

Stagefright - who suffers from it and how do you deal with it?
xgsjx replied to 4000's topic in General Discussion
Chemical assistance isn't the answer. A couple of "courage" drinks or a toke is only gonna risk compromising your playing ability. If you're nervous, get back beside the drummer (behind a guitarist if you can) & pretend you're invisible. Look at your hands & feet whilst you play so you're not looking at the audience. If you was in my band, my singer would put you out front in the middle & he'd go to one side. He's done that to me twice & it doesn't phase me anymore (first time was a little "I hope you're not expecting some Jaco"). Relax. You know how to play. -
I used to be in 2 bands that played live & practiced with both on a weekly basis but I had to give one up & now we practice about once every month or two.
Call me unprofessional or un-musicianlike, but as long as I am happy with what I hear and am enjoying the gig, f*** everyone else
That's an important factor to consider. No point in playing through something that you aren't happy with If you're in a venue using PA support & the band can hear what you're playing, then use whatever you're happy with. It's only you who needs it.
To quote Ampeg: "Why eight 10” speakers? We learned early on that 10” speakers work much more efficiently than fifteens or eighteens—and if you put eight 10” speakers together, you can move a huge column of air. You’d need five 18” or six 15” speakers to move as much air as the SVT-810E. And they simply wouldn’t be able to respond to transient peaks as quickly as our tens. " I don't claim to know much about wiring, but I remember my lecturer holding a discussion about 810 cabinets and saying how the parallel/series/parallel wiring makes a difference, i'd assume to do with the alignment. All that being said, you do hold a very valid point. Money has some element to play. I'm starting with no money whatsoever, and selling this cab is a good platform to save upon to get the 810. Also, and this will sound very lame, but it's partially an aesthetic thing. Even though it gives a strong tone, it does look a little weedy on stage. Originally I wanted to add a Warwick WCA 411 Pro to my setup, but It's hard to defer from the the classic 810 look and sound. I would say it's fair to disagree with me, personally preference really.
Ampeg's quote is a bit of a misleading one. Yes, an 8x10 will move more air, but only an advantage to those directly in front of it. Move off axis & the volume drops dramatically due to the cab having the 10s next to one another.
-
Why do you want an 8x10? If you like the sound of your current rig, I'd get another Warwick WCA 210 Pro & stack em vertically.
-
That IE looks prettttty good I'd really like to add a 2nd filter to my board. If modualtion is an effect that makes the bass "wobble", then LPF is most definitely modulation. Ask any Dubstep bassist what FX they need to make "wobbles".

Apparently he used a Phase 90 on a lot of tracks, but this may well be just a flanger of some sort (no idea what as yet & still think it sounds like there's a bit of wah in there).
-
It sounds like there's an auto wah on there as well as a flanger. Can I name the effect Grenville?
The latest incarnation: Don't think there's room for any more!
That's a tidy board. Next purchase might be a bigger board so you can get more pedals?
