I have to have my Moog LPF on it's own PSU as it's noisy if put in a chain. So I'd try taking a pedal out the chain 1 at a time & see if you can narrow it down.

Mose home insurances will get you a like for like & is New for Old, so a "New" bass/amp/whatever would be supplied. However, most insurances will offer a cash settlement to replace it with a 2nd hand one. it sounds like your home ins co changes whom it uses as an underwriter each year.

[/quote] If you're getting paid anything, even just petrol money or paid in beer, then that could be classed as "business use" as there is an exchange going on. So it's always best to check with your insurer. [/quote] If you need more than that, try a different insurer. Mine has a single article limit of £2500 & an overall chosen by me of £5k. Items over £2500 can be specified individually (such as the Mrs' engagement ring?).

I work in the insurance industry & know that my insurance covers me for. If you're not sure what yours covers, call the claims dept of your insurer & ask them. I've checked using my knowledge & also those of the claims & underwriting depts too. With my insurance it will also cover for business use if I want & I only have to specify individual items if they're over £2500 & not being used for "business purposes". I'm insured through my home insurance too. Covered out & about as long as it's with me & I'm not using it for professional purposes, it's covered. `If it's left in the car, then it needs to be locked in the boot & out of sight.

You can put in a replacement driver, but find the specs of your Ampeg driver & cab get a driver that has the same (or very close to) requirements (cab size & port requirements). A 4Ω driver would allow you to draw the full wattage from the amp. Downside is that full wattage probably wouldn't be noticed by anyone without a meter & you wouldn't be able to add another cab if you do need more volume (unless your amp runs at 2Ω). If you're putting a different driver in your cab, then some port tuning might be required. Tuning is done by changing the length of the port. If it's a tube, then that's not difficult, if it's a shelf, then it's not gonna be easy. Edited because a load of crap appeared in the post! Anyone else get that stuff

My Markbass combo sits in a corner of the living room. it's not on display but it's there ready for me to plug my bass into anytime I want to play & the pedal board is in it's flightcase next to it. So it gets regular use. And then when it's time to play with the band, it's a simple case of unplugging the mains & pulling the cover over, then pick it up.

You could always attack it with some sandpaper & give it that "road worn" look, instantly doubling the value of it!

Simple answer is put your combo on top of your 2x10 & see if you like the sound (& if there is any difference to what you hear). If you like the sound of your combo, swap your 2x10 for another 1x15.

Not sure if it's in with what you're looking for, but i good grooves are what you're after then try some Miloopa.

Where Black is a good colour for killing a lot of colours, certain colours will overpower it (such as green, which is a hard colour to get rid of) & also black is a crap undercoat unless you're painting the thing black*. Best primer colours are Grey which will kill all colours in a few thin coats or if you're going for yellow, gold or orange - Maroon (red led to be exact, but not sure if that's what you want to spray your bass with). Google what sort of paint you're priming over & find out what's fine with it. I tend to find that as long as there's no wax or oil on the surface then you should be fine (again, do check before commencing). *Edited to say, the OP does want a black bass, I'd still prime in grey & then finish in black.

My singer uses a Godin Synth access guitar into a Roland GK20 & then a Microkorg (or sometimes a Yamaha SY?) & gets some brilliant sounds. I've considered going down the synth route a few times, but for now I want to see how I can manipulate the sound via pedals.

Personally think a combo can be as good as the amp/cab of the same, as long as you don't mind being stuck with both parts (which I don't). However, I don't know that I'd go with an Ampeg combo as recent QA seems pretty poor.

AFAIK the traveller cabs are smaller & therefore possibly not as much low end beefiness?

Does having tinnitus & a bad back give you an Ampeg rig? If so, where can I pick mine up from.

I've got an OC-3 (off Shep last month) & mainly use it in "OC-2" mode, hough occasionally I'll put it into "Drive" mode which adds some drive (weird that). I tried an OC-2 a few years ago, but it was gone when I went back for it. Can't compare how they sound as I've never tried side by side I am happy with the OC-3 though & once it's gone hrought the Moogs, it's pretty Phat synth sounding

Be wary of using fruit or veg oil on your wood, such as lemon oil or olive oil as there's a chance that it could perish over a period of time (how long that time is, I do not know. But googled oiling fretboards a few years back & there's a split on using lemon oil).

It depends on the budget. GK, SWR, Ashdown & a few others make some decent combos for not a lot of money. I would say look in the "for sale" section on here.
