1.
There are girls who will do satisfaction in a lot less time than that
2. Should do the job. I'd speak to Alex & see what cab would suit you best. He does a 30 day satisfaction.
  3. From what I've heard, a Super 12 on it's own would probably be more than enough. Question is, does your TE head kick out enough to power it?

    I Want You Back

It's an acapella group from New York called Sonos. You should check out their album Sonosings. I like the way their version sounds more dark & less jolly. Other than my bass, there's no instruments beside vocals on there.
  5. Try your 1x15 on it's own. Do you like it? Adding another will give you more of the same but with more volume.
  6. It is trying to get into the feeling of the piece that's the trickiest part. THere's a version on Youtube that's played by a guy in a suit with no shoes on & plays it at a consistent speed & whereas technically good, has no feeling as it's just a barrage of semi quavers (crushed crisps?) that you could set a metronome to. The Mrs gets a little sick of hearing it after the 8th play through though! I finish work at 2 today, so I might just spend the afternoon with my bass.
  7. Cheers Jake, that feedback is much appreciated & shall work on your points to improve my playing. My source for the music was t'interweb, so I dare say I've been given a few wrong notes. I do have the original piece on CD, so will pay a little more attention to it. The final note on the run at 57 secs was written as an A & then goes to the Bb (which I did find a little unusual, but listened to other versions on Youtube & they did the same). I'll try it in C this afternoon & with those changes. I'll also have a listen to Pablo Casals version. Soundwise, I agree. It's came out way too punchy & staccato sounding. I just plugged straight into the mac & recorded in GB & played through the iMac's speakers (I did listen back on headphones). I'll keep working on it. Cheers.
  8. I'm playing it in D. The original is in G.
  9. I tried recording this with video a couple of nights ago & kept making mistakes (silly ones at that) & ended up doing "I want you back" instead. So now I proudly (or embarrassingly) present a fine audio recording of me playing the 1st 1/2 of Bach's Cello Suite 1 Prelude... Here! I know there's a couple of dodgy notes in there, but any feedback is welcome.
  10. I'd go & have a lookski in the "Amps for sale" section on here. You'll get much more for your £300 or so.
  11.
Yes there was a big fuss a while back when people claimed that WD40 had silicone in it and was responsible for ruining finishes in car spray shops. (As anyone who takes any silicone based sprays into some high end spray shops gets instant dismissal. So deadly are the fine silicone dropletts to paint finishes) WD40 would not say what was in their product, but they did state under oath or by affidavit, that Silicone was not an ingredient. I have heard that some sort of fish oil goes into it though. ?
I'd heard about "fish oil" being in there & also the main ingredient being water, but both apparently not true. Here's a wee list from Wiki... WD-40's formula is a trade secret. The product is not patented to avoid completely disclosing its ingredients. WD-40's main ingredients, according to U.S. Material Safety Data Sheet information, are:

51% Stoddard solvent (i.e., mineral spirits: primarily hexane, somewhat similar to kerosene)
25% Liquefied petroleum gas (presumably as a propellant; carbon dioxide is now used instead to reduce WD-40's considerable flammability)
15+% Mineral oil (light lubricating oil)
10-% Inert ingredients
The German version of the mandatory EU safety sheet lists the following safety-relevant ingredients:

60–80% Heavy Naphtha (petroleum product), hydrogen treated
1–5% Carbon dioxide
It further lists flammability and effects to the human skin when repeatedly exposed to WD-40 as risks when using WD-40. Nitrile rubbergloves and safety glasses should be used. Water is unsuitable for extinguishing burning WD-40. There is a popular urban legend that the key ingredient in WD-40 is fish oil. However, the WD-40 web site states that it is a petroleum based product.
  12.
Mine is a graphite neck and I clean it with soapy water and then a decent rub with a clean cloth. Does the trick. I used WD40 once and it seemed to work quite well, too. It makes it very deep black and shiny. In fact I might do it again when I get home, it's been a while. Cheers
You should try Back to Black
  13. Did you know that WD-40 isn't patented & has "Secret" ingredients?
  14.
Pardon my ignorance.... what's the thumb thingy?
It's similar to an expression pedal but has an accelerometer built into it & links to a few different Soundblox fx boxes, such as the Bass Envelope Filter. It's called a "Hot Hand" & you could put it on the headstock if you don't want to wear it.
  15. Nice job BEF & HH keep tempting me!

    I Want You Back

Posh Pinky! It sticks out when I drink a cuppa too!!! It isn't as square as it looks in the video though.
  17. OK. I was sitting playing Bach's Cello Suite 1 Prelude & thought "I'm gonna record that". So after 40 takes of fluffing it, I said "sack it" & recorded this instead! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=452iLKXCcbc Cello Suite 1 Prelude shall come at a later date!
  18. Very nice! Beautiful bass & lovely sounds. Well done young man! I've liked these ever since seeing Mr Claber's.
  19. Why not another LB112?
  20. I DI from my combo (LMII head) & have left it on Post so that sound I get isn't completely different to what's coming out the PA. I tried changing jumpers about but left them at factory defaults (I never use the FX loop, though I did experiment).
  21. If you lift the lid off your amp, there's 2 jumpers. One for the FX loop & one for the DI being pre/post EQ.
  22. I stick my LPF 2nd last in the chain so I can roll off the top end & all the dirt as I wish. Like I said, the Drive can be kept to a minimum.
  23. I've only got "The Hidden Land" & it's a superb album with some cool banjo playing (there's 2 words that don't usually appear in the same sentence).
  24.
I have to ask... SLF..????
Not sure if you're asking "why SLF" or "who's SLF"? If it's the former, I agree . If the latter, it's Stiff Little Fingers. Redlawman, best thing to do is learn some theory (what notes are & how they fit into a scale & so on). Like's been said, get a tutor (or YouTube). I started on keys some 35 years ago & transgressed to bass, & after 20 odd years of bass I still think of things like a keys player). Unfortunately I can't recall when I couldn't play good as I was born good at playing.
