1.
Good point! External dimensions measure 47 x 23 x 9.5" I actually could just abou fit in it
That's, pretty big! Bigger than your cab!!! You'll soon get used to it though.
2. Drop C is even better!!! I'd like to try a bunch of 450-500w rated heads & put them one after the other through the same cab & see how each compares in Db. Alex, I dare say you've already tried this?
3. Like TRBboy says, go & try loads out & find one that you get on with. Ibanez are brilliant basses for the money & even better 2nd hand, for £300 you could get something that would give most £800 s/h basses a run for their money. But, would you get on with the slim neck? Only you could know that.
4. Don't listen to any of them Cha, they're full of fairy dust. What to do is turn every dial fully clockwise, plug your bass in & do the same with that, turn the power on, hold an E power chord with the open low E & whack those strings as hard as you can. You'll be fine!
5. I'm gonna go with A. Doesn't look like me (I'm white with long hair & a beard), I don't smoke (though I used to), & I play through FX to get as untraditional a sound as possible. But.... He's the only one that looks like he'd play some DnB, blues, jazz or laid back chillax stuff.
6. Mrs X (who actually joined the forum, but has never used her login) supports my playing. Whether it be Bass, Guitar or something else, as long as it doesn't interfere with our weekends she's more than happy for me to play (she's fine with the odd gig here & there). As I recently discovered my bridge being broken on my bass, she's offered to buy me a replacement. How sweet is that!
7. I think the Super 12 would do more than you think it can (going by reports on here, anyway). The lows that the Big Twin can produce (and actually be useful) are as low as 21Hz according to the Barefaced website (and Pantherairsoft). That's lower than the vast majority of cabs! So also a good contender. Alex will let you give the cab straight back if you're not happy with it. 3 Guitarists? Either well co-ordinated or the vocalist has a hard life!
8. Looking forward to seeing this. Does it have a retractable seat so you can use both feet?
9. You're kinda right on all accounts as such. A pre amp is a signal booster that "heats up" the signal before the power amp gets it. This could be the Active electronics in your bass, a pedal such as a DHA VT1 or Sansamp BDDi, or the input & tone section on your head (amp, not human). Have a read at some of the pinned sections such as "Gain, Power & Volume", "Valve amp Vs Solid state amp", "DI Boxes & playing through the PA" & of course "The Wiki". Edited to say "those topics are in the "Amps & Cabs" forum.
10. Tickets are £10 either from Smallprint (in Stirling) or on the door. Doors open at 7:30pm.
11. Hey all, I've got a charity gig on 12th November with my band, BigRoom. We're kind of an unusual mix of Rock, Americana, Folk, Blues, Jazz, Electro & anything else you can feed us (The singer plays a Godin Synth access guitar, the drummer plays a mixture of Acoustic & electronic kit, I play bass thru some fx & get as techno DnB sounding as I can & there's a lady whom plays either Mandolin, Tin Whistle, Bodhran or Spoons. This set will be more Rock/Blues/Electro stuff. There's another band on with us called Main Street Blues (from Edinburgh), no points for guessing what style of music they play! It's in the Victoria Hall in Dunblane (straight across the road from the train station). As it's for charity, there's a fee to get in. I will get back with a price & a start time.
for sure. however I am confined to using small lightweight cabs ( bad back and a ford fiesta!) so i am interested in whether the 1by12 traveler, or for that matter any other small lightweight cab is a good compromise between the lack of definition (IMO) of the markbass 1by15 and the lack of bass of the 2by10.
That's one of the reasons I went for a combo. Easy carry with 1 hand (usually the drummers) & small enough to fit into whatever small car I have (was a Honda DelSol, then a VX Corsa C & now an old T plate Clio) & has enough grunt & low end to cope without PA at decent gigs (Next gig is in Dunblane, 12/11/11 at the Victoria Hall (shameless plug)). Try one of the larger 2x10s that MB do, you'll be surprised at how little they weigh & how low they can go (OK, so Barefaced go lower still).
13. Question is, with the current crop of cabs available why would anyone want an Ampeg stack unless it's to have the name that goes with it?
14. Talking about Navarro, I believe in that video on the previous page he's using a ME-20B & the BEF. He's not gotten back to me (though he might have missed my post).
15. Quality stuff Si. Did you get that from Organic Bass Wobble (facebook page)? I'm sure it was Nathan Navarro who posted it (I think it's his band, though I could be wrong). Something different... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDIl5bOAkz8&feature=related
i use the 2by10 traveler cab with my little mark 11 and though it is not as low ended as I would like, i prefer it to the 1by15 traveler cab. Has any of you guys had the experience of using the 1by12 traveler cab?. in theory it might be a good compromise
It's nothing to do with the driver size, it's the cab dimensions. The bigger MB 2x10 cabs have loads more low end, the traveller is a compromise of low end for a lighter & smaller footprint cab.
17. Well I saw a Hipshot A bridge for £66.64. Went to the checkout & this is the bill... Item Subtotal: GBP 66.64 Shipping: GBP 20.99 Duty & Vat: GBP 16.74 Total: GBP 104.37
18. Until you add shipping & [s]ripoff & theft[/s] VAT & Duty.
19. Just looking for a bridge & found out Guitar Centre now ship to the UK. Decent prices too!
20. A simple one like the Boss/Roland ME-50b might suit you. it's basically 3 stomp boxes that allows you to assign an effect to each. Line 6, Zoom & other Roland/Boss units are worth a look too.
21. I know where you're coming from. I was playing in a worship group that comprised of a singer/guitarist whom couldn't play anything past CAGED & didn't like anything in E, but she was a good vocalist & a drummer that played the same beat to every song (sounded like the drums to "Be my little baby" from Grease). As these 2 was older & been "playing" for 30+ years, I was considered the one who knew the least about theory & if I gave any opinions about what a chord or arrangement should be, was told "No, no, no, I'm right, that doesn't sound right! Capo on the 8". I think some churches have singers who only play a little of an instrument because they "have to" & once they have the basics, that's them set. Younger generations do appear to be breaking this (thank's to tinterweb).
22. What d'ya mean "you're not selling it"? I was gonna pay good money too!
