1.
That's some serious Wal ownership going on there! Why would anybody choose to play a bloody Telecaster with that little collection in the house?
Simple. His dad won't let him touch the good gear until he's older!
2. Can't watch the vid at work, but I really like Hadrians, would love to see the Chinese one & Berlin's was a classic.
3. If I had the time, I'd love to sort out a Central Bass Bash. But as things are just now, I just don't get the time. I'd have to fight just to get to one as my work is random hours & I'm in the process of trying to redecorate the entire house, fit a new kitchen, demolish the garden, help the Mrs with her business & on top of that, I'm trying to do my bits for our wedding in April. If no one sorts anything out before hand, I'll see what I can do next June.

Mark Bass

Grand Wazoo's pretty much right there, the MB combos are excellent kit. Though it's @ 350w without the ext cab (not that it matters, as it's seriously loud). If I had the CMD 151, I'd add another MB 15" cab. I have the CMD 102p & if I ever need more volume, I'd add another 2x10.
5. Cheers min, I'm off a searching for 2nd hand.
6. I've emailed headstock Distribution to see if I can get replacement saddles from anywhere. If not, I'm looking at the Shaller 3D & have also noticed the Babicz bridge, which looks cool & is about the same price. Question though. Are these bridges worth the extra £40-50 over something like this... http://www.thomann.de/gb/goeldo_hw50b_bass_3d_steg.htm or this http://www.blackdogmusic.co.uk/ViewItem.php?ItemID=238 ?
7. I'd say the highlight was the big yawn the percussionist does beginning 19 seconds in & is still going strong when the camera cuts back to him at 25 seconds. I did persevere & got to the bass solo & the drummer. Quality stuff! I did love the expressions the bassist pulled & the big cheesy grin. Almost looks like George Dawes. Seriously, I like that track & they appear to be a good bunch of musicians having a great time (which is what it's all about, audience comes 3rd).
8. Now that's something I never thought of. I'll have to check out whom my nearest dealer is. If not, I'm safe with a drill. No Leerdammer makers here.
9. Just having a look around, are the £30 shots worth buying or are they crap? Thomann & Axesrus have some cheapos, or is that just what they are?
10. Good stuff Now I need to convince the wife just why this is so important. I don't mind if it looks different from the Ibby one, as long as it does a good job. I even toyed with the idea of fitting this... Maybe not.
11. Thanks I'll forget wasting money on wood filler (got plenty of wooden skewers). So would any bridge of that style be ok as long as the string spacing is the same?
12. Cheers, I'll have a look at the Schaller. A bit of wood filler & I should be fine re screwholes
13. Close up of the cracks If I take the strings off I can lift the saddles out without having to do anything (except from the A saddle).
14. It's still functional as in "the strings go over the bridge & it plays ok", but I was going to raise the action for an upcoming gig (fret clank is getting on me thruppnies). if you look at the top pic you can see a locking screw at the end of each saddle, well the saddle is completely cracked right across. I think I may have over tightened them last time I was playing with the action. I'll take a pic & upload it just now.
15. Well I whipped the strings & the bridge off my bass to give it a nice thorough waxing & when I was popping the strings back on the saddle on the E popped up. The alan screw stayed in the rest of the saddle & on further examination, discovered that the D & G saddles are also broken. So now I need a new saddle (that octaver is getting further away every day ). So I need to ask you guys what my options are. The bass is an Ibanez SR1000e, made in 1989 (in Japan) & the bridge on it is an Omni Adjust which is apparently made by Gotoh & string spacing is @ 19mm. Here's a couple of pics showing the bridge... They were taken 4 months ago. I'd like to replace it with a decent bridge, but I don't want to be spending £100 or more just now on something if something for £30 is gonna do the job fine for now.
16. Source Audio BEF Pro with a Hot Hand is a top contender at the mo... I want one. & for Low Pass Loveliness & swells the Moog MF-101... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTlxSVIq2gU I've got one
17.
Thanks for all the advice. I do have another friend(newish) who is a pro base player so I could ask him to help, but I thought if I did that my son may end up wanting £1000+ bass!!
How would a baseball player help? Only messing. My first bass was a Vox Standard which picking up now, is probably the heaviest bass I've ever come across (I'm sure it's made of cement). Most kids aren't gonna worry about weight. Charic's advice is good though, get him to a shop to try a few out. Maybe here? Clicky linky.
18. Also Ibanez are very good for the money & can be had for very little.
19. I was at practice tonight too. Actually snapped the string in the EP2 from doing a load of wub wub! whipped the baseplate off it & fixed in seconds. We've got a blues gig next month, so I thought I might invent a new genre. Bluesstep. Well Rasta man, what's your next moog gonna be? Glad you gave the 101 a chance, it does add a load of lovely bass to the sound.
20.
Eh?? If you don't like Fender top horns how can you like Ritter top horns?? Aarrgghh! My brain!!
The Ritter top horn is nicely curved & slender. The Fender top horn looks like a cyst. It's just got that deformed look about it in my eyes (I dare say for a lot of folk it's the other way around).
21.
Am I the only person who feels ill when they see the words "Expert" village?
I'm sure it's really Expert Village Idiot!
22. Aye it's good, but not as good as Expert Village! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQGrM5HS8vU&feature=relmfu I know, it's been posted before. But skills like that can't be taught!
23. Some combos have the internal speaker on a jack that plugs into the back of the combo amp. If it does you can unplug it, but you're most likely gonna need a short male/female 1/4" extension lead from the combo speaker to your Eden amp. Other option is to take the DI from the Eden & into the Peavey, but it's still not gonna sound like your rig does. Get a smaller good cab for lugging around (sell the 2x15 & get 2 1x15s would be my suggestion).
24.
Super Funky!
I'll second that. Quality stuff!
25. I think the only thing that really puts me off Fenders is the top horn. It's nothing short of hideous! The rest is a very nice. Not as nice as a Ritter, but still nice.
