I'm only as knowledgable as many...
I think you're a lot more knowledgeable than you're giving yourself credit for. You have hands on experience with a lot of pedals & know what they're capable of.

You all seem to be missing the main point why these cables are so dear. They're made of pure snake oil.
-
If you're planning on sticking to the original arrangement, then a good guide for rehearsal to keep all in check is to print off the lyrics & chords so all know where any changes are. One of my favourite FNM songs off a brilliant album (though the singing isn't the best).

Just noticed in your sig that you're after a Bass Murf. There's one for £180 in the For Sale section.

The body of your bass looks like a drawing. Pretty cool if it looks like that normally. I thought the Eden Metro was a great combo? I've never tried one myself, but they appear to get a lot of love. I've had my combo for just over 3 years now & it's never let me down. There's one or two for sale on here for @ £650.

Like Kedo says, yes you can. The ABM would be a better match. I have a 2x10 combo (Markbass) & find it more than ample for the sort of gigs I play. I have it on it's side so that the drivers are vertical & give a better dispersion & I usually raise it up on something.
I hear that stickers have a more natural sound than Vinyl. Vinyl sounds much more modern and some consider it clinical
I prefer the static that you get from vinyl. I cosmetically modded my bass from this... What can I use to make my sound "better"?
xgsjx replied to Herbie The Rad Dorklift's topic in Effects
I've used compressors in the past, but they don't do anything for my live sound (not the ones' I've tried, that is) although I do use it when recording. If you've no idea what you want in regards to pedals, get a decent Multi Effects unit. Roland, Line 6 & Zoom are all great for this & will give you an idea of what fx do what. -
How many watts are they?
-
Just read 4 pages on TB about it. So, if it costs @$150-200 over there, by the time postage & customs get ya it'll be @£300! Sounds cool as though.

I want that! How much? I've been searching for a CV mixer schematic to build a simple mixer that split the ep-2 so I could control more than 1 thing, but not found anything yet. Plan to just wire up some sockets & see if it works or if I need to power it (5v might be needed if the split reduces the voltage).

My LPF is a moog MF-101. It sounds like he's opening up the resonance as well as the cutoff both at once. If you're wanting to replicate that song you could stick the filter & a fuzz (& maybe even a slow phaser) on a loop such as an LS2. That way you're not trying to stand on several pedals at once to bring the effect in.
-
I can get a similar sound using Bass Murf, Distortion & Low Pass Filter (& slowly opening the cutoff with an expression pedal). A modded Bass Micro Synth would probably do something similar.
-
I think the sound of the bass matters as much as any other instrument. Yes the average punter wont know what the bass is let alone the sound, but if you play a song with a bridge pickup & a bright sound & then play it with the neck pickup & a very bassy sound, the audience will know the difference as it will most likely change the overall sound & feel of the song. & for sound not making a big difference, try playing dubstep with no effects. It's no longer dubstep.

Thinking about getting a cheap bass to experiment on, but my idea is adding a couple of pots onto the bass for quick parameter twiddling (saves bending down) & maybe adding something similar to a whammy bar idea, but connected to another pot (that could be useful for a freqbox or ring mod). Obviously I wouldn't want another wad of wires coming from the bass, so I'd need to fit another kind of multisocket to it which could then go to a distribution box. Just something simple that the multi lead from the bass goes into & then has jacks for plugging into the MFs. I'd probably need to have a junction box if I plan on controlling something that I want the EP-2 to be in also. The handy thing is, my dad in law is a joiner to trade & has all the luthier tools I could dream of & he's more than happy to carve up some wood. So if it works, I'll get some Warmoth or similar parts & a body blank for a final creation (my only fear of blanks is getting carried away & make it some stupid shape! ).

Soon be needing to grow some extra legs! I've been thinking if it would be possible to make a custom control unit that I can integrate into a bass to give some more control & have some interesting ideas.
-
I like this thread so far, makes me feel like a youngster! Keep it up auld yins.

Too big is when the drummer can no longer carry it for you.
-
Get a lightweight amp & cab (or combo), buy a pipe & grow a beard.
-
But if you do decide to port, I can recommend a jigsaw is a better tool for making the hole than the head of a bass (although it's not as Rock n Roll).

How to keep/store a bass which won't be used for long
xgsjx replied to GCYPbass's topic in General Discussion
I've got a storage bay for looking after basses if you want me to put it in there. It'll get regularly cleaned & checked over for just a small monthly fee. -
My singer loves that sort of stuff. Americana, Country (not western as in Dolly Parton), Roots, Love yer sister type stuff & my band have a few songs in that vein. I like Steve Earl's stuff, but don't actually have much else in my collection from this genre.
THE ROUNDABOUT?....which one?....I think there is 53,496 roundabouts here....rough guestimate!
That's what I meant! I think they breed them there to take to other towns & cities.

TRS & TS relates to jack plugs a mono 1/4 jack is TS (Tip, Sleeve) & a stereo jack is TRS (Tip, Ring, Sleeve).
Sorry to jump in, but i have a question which is on topic... Are there any alternatives to the MP-201? not as in CV generator but as in a line selector that can controll expression pedal signals & cv? I'm using a Moog LPF & a Ring mod on my board & want to be able to alternate between: Exp > LFP Cut-off Exp > Ring Mod Rate, CV out to LPF Cut-off. I've tried splitting the exp pedal out through a Boss LS-2 into a loop master (one loop via the ring mod rate/cv) and then into the Cut-off - anyway i didnt think this would work and it didnt! Suggestions & feedback welcome! J
Have you had a look at the moog CP-251? It has a CV mixer (amongst other things). More GAS! I've been trying to find a schematic to make myself a small CV mixer that'll allow me to split the EP-2 so I can control both the cutoff of the 101 & the rate on the 105 at the same time.
