1. If you're new to FX, then a multi fx unit is your best starting point so you can find out what fx does what & saves buying a couple of funky looking bricks. Once you know what's what then single pedals all the way (tho there's some very good multis that I'd have. Oh, it's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
2. Sounds like youband is too loud & your cabs are inefficient. Punk band = no comprimise with volume Flog your cabs & get more efficient ones (maybe a barefaced bigone). Sorry, it's taken me over an hour to type this post between calls!
3. Watts don't really come into the equasion as much as you're lead to believe. it's all about how efficient a cab is & how much air it can move. A 400 watt cab can be louder than a 1200w cab.
4. Does it have to be an Orange cab? I'd go & try a few cabs out & see what YOU like the sound of (and the weight of). My choice would be 2 2x10s or 2x12s as opposed to a 4x10.
5. My church has got the iMultimix 8 & it's a decent wee mixer. I use it at home from time to time for recording. My suggestion for getting your toes into recording would be a mac with Garageband. It's very easy to use & after a short time you'll find yourself getting Reaper (which is free & with the option to pay if you use it a lot). The good thing about a mac is that you get a nice software bundle to make music & videos very easily with, the down side is the price, but then the upside is that they hold their value & aren't at high risk from viruses.
6.
Knock down to $5k here: http://www.interstatemusic.com/webapp/wcs/...oduct_900442986 Bargain. Seriously though, if they've sold any, I'll be amazed.
Maybe that's the idea? Mr GV wants one unique to him but Ibanez have to offer them to the public, so to make it more likely to remain unique they come to an agreement to put a silly price tag on it. Talking about silly price tags, IF I had a spare £10k I would be looking at this...
7. I know the feeling. My funds make are somewhat missing too. If you've got a soldering iron, then a couple of 1/4 jacks & a bit of cable can be sourced for fairly little & behringer do a small line mixer for @£20-25 (I can't even afford the jacks just now).
8. Does your Sansamp not have an output & a parallel output also for running a dry signal? If so, there's your splitter. You'll need a mixer of some sort to merge them back together. Just now I'm using a Alesis 8 channel mixer sat on top of my amp to sum the channels back together, but I do plan on getting a dedicated pedal on my board (probably from SilentFly) tho it is some time away I'm using a Moog Bass Murf to split the channels & get some very interesting effects. I'll make a video one day soon on how I do it & post it.
9. I've never played a 6 stringer (other than guitars ), but if I was going for the best then a Ritter would be on my "to try" list.
10. I like that very last sound you make (the 2nd last note especially). Very PWM & with a bit more bass to it would sound tremendous! You could split your signal & put 1 side thru those 2 pedals & then pop the other side thru a little fuzz & then the Qtron with no wah effect to roll off all the top (use it kinda like an LPF, if that's possible) & then merge the signals again.
11.
Theres plenty of space left for an OC2... To be honest I wouldn't use it much with this project. It's soooooooo NOT Dubstep There's just room for one pedal no bigger than a Boss unit. Either an OC2 or an envelope filter. Or maybe I'll just leave it as is...
Envelope filter??? The Moog or the GR would be a verrry tight squeeze!
12. Silly Q, but aren't Ashdowns known for their "Woolyness"?
13. I moved house 30 mile away from the band & don't have the funds to keep going down to rehearse. So lack of seeing them means not much gets done I'm considering starting a new band in Perth but haven't decided if I should & if so whether it'll be an originals rock or acoustic, a covers band to do parties & weddings (money driven of course), or if I should start a Dubstep/DnB outfit. The covers option is appealing for the money & the DnB for the sheer enjoyment.
14. Great stuff. I've got a band but just don't get to see them We've had One gig this year & it was a jam thru (Was jolly good fun tho!).
15.
All those pedals and no hoover?
I know, terrible isn't it! 5 mins in photoshop or a quick touch up in iPhoto would have cleaned that carpet.
16. You want a two tier horseshoe board for that lot!
17. A bit of Kurt for Bilbo. And to wake you back up... Hope you like
18. Nice review. It'll be interesting to hear feedback from other folk (such as Sibob) to find out how it worked with different setups.
19.
I used to think that way until I got both of my newish rigs (Staccato/RS210&212 and backup BH500/BC210 BC212) then again I used to think huge great Ampeg fridges with a massive heavy tube amp were a must for every gig too. I believe that these were designed by TC and their speaker division Tannoy to be mixed and matched also. When you think about it my PA is different driver sizes for tops and sub...
To be able to have designed cabs so you can mix & match speaker sizes means they'd have to change the laws of physics, & I don't believe mankind has that ability. Tops & subs on PA are different from mixing cabs. Tops are directional & the Xover should only be putting mid range & treble to them whereas Subs are usually non directional.
20. He's a Multi-Unstrimentalist
21. I'm sure that guy's on the wind up!
22. Always best to have a matching pair so you know what sound you're gonna get. Different drivers can result in unpredictable sounds from venue to venue.
