1. Not cheap. But if it works like I think it does, then it's cheaper than adding another cab to get that extra volume.
2.
I'm sorry but just can't hear any difference in tone or sound - yes the speakers move less but really so what?
If you're getting all the same sound & your speakers are moving less, then they ain't working as hard. This means you can turn up the bass or volume further & not be putting as much stress on your drivers, thus increasing your headroom. Actually, I think I want one now! That'll be my purchase after the octaver. How much are they?
3. I wonder if he makes a tweakable version where you can move the cut off up or down by @ 10hz? So if you need some more low rumbles for your dub sounds & you have the subs then you could cut off below 20-25hz, or if you go for a more jazz/punk tone, take the cut off to @ 40hz. On 2nd thoughts, if you have the subs you won't need one.
4. You should go onto Bill's website & have a look at cabs there & then get a set of plans to give to your techy for him to build. It would be a much better option than a 15" with a 6". Here's his website. The Omni cabs get a lot of love on here & Talkbass.
5. It cuts everything below 30Hz. Your cabs probably wont make much use of the stuff below 35-40Hz. This could effectively allow you to produce more useable bass as the drivers wouldn't be straining from trying to cope with unused frequencies.
6. I never had any probs setting the EQ on my old multi FX pedal & the advantage is you can store presets. If you've got spare money, go for an envelope filter & an octaver or a synth pedal like the bass synth. If not, I still say get a multi FX pedal. This way you can play about with a whole host of effects & find out what you're actually gonna use rather than buying a few pedals & ending up with a couple of light up bricks. For Sale section on here is a good place to look.
7. I can................t I can't sing at all. Whenever I try & sing, everyone leaves. I tried using autotune & it got up & left too! Cheryl Cole sings better than me! Infact, the cast of Glee sing better than me!!! I think I'll stick with just playing bass.
8. Go & have another try of an Ibanez. If you can get hold of one, try an SR-1000. HUGE range of sounds.
9. How about "Steve Irwin Vs Stingray"
My fretless OLP has a metallic blue headstock that I never liked, and now that I have a sander toyed with the idea of stripping all that off, and I was looking at recreating the OLP logo in black... but I really like what you came up with!!! If I find a suitable set of fonts or someone who has, I think I'll use that!!!
You could put OAP.
10. Just had a listen, quality tune.
11. Damn you Sibob, now I really want an OC2! Good selection of sounds you're producing there & I like the bassline, shows off the sounds well.
12. About 5-6 years ago in Vegas I was tempted by a Dingwall Afterburner (not sure if it was a 1, 2 or 3) I played in Ed Romans. It was $2900 (@ £1400 at the time) & there was none in any UK shops (or any in the UK that I'd heard of). I had the spare money, I went to the casino
13. +1 Get the Boss. Or save a little more & get a multi fx pedal.
14. Little Angels! I had an album of theirs. A bit like Poison without as much spandex. I didn't know they had enough songs to release a greatest hits! Was it an EP? Womankind was a good song. Anyway, sorry. I don't have any of their stuff. If you want some Van Halen, Talas or Madonna, I might be able to help.
15. It's the CMD-102p that I have & it is a seriously loud combo for just a 2x10. I've went from a Trace Elliott 4x10 to it & it blows the hell out of anything the TE could do. Get a try on one if you can & see if it's got the sounds you want. I used to play in a 4 piece rock band with 2 noisy guitarists & a shed builder & now play in a folk/country/jazz band & also planing on starting a DnB/Dubstep band & it copes with whatever bass sounds I'm after, from no effects to a bit of overdrive & to filtered sounds. Get in a shop that has a few bits of lightweight kit & try combo's & separates, see what fits your needs.
16. Have a look at some of the lightweight gear available. Something like a markbass or genzbenz head thru a couple of light bergantino or barefaced cabs. Would be more of an upgrade than a downgrade tho. I use a markbass 2x10 combo & it suits my needs perfectly & if I did need to shift more air, I'd add another 2x10 (tho I think it'd need to be a pretty big venue with no PA support for that).
17. Finally got a chance to listen to the link. Very impressive. Not the sort of thing I'd listen to on my iPod, but the sort of thing I'd happily pay to watch live.
18. If it's sub you're after then why not add a sub? I've long been toying with the idea of adding a folded horn sub (maybe a BFM Tuba) for getting that low end moving more things. A good 2x10 can give you just as much "bass" as a good 1x15. It's not so much what size the driver is, but how well tuned the cab is.
19. I've got a KitchenAid one.
20. Why not put the LPF between bass & head? Get a moog MF-101. The large peak in the low mids is most likely due to different sized soundwaves bumping into one another. What sounds good in one venue may sound guff in another tho due to room acoustics. The reason having same sized drivers is suggested is so that you don't get pleasent & unpleasent surprises, just the same at everywhere.
21.
Er yeah!
I think that one is the DnB concept. Tuned A-C & independent octavers for each string built in (hence all the controls). One for Shep maybe? Oh, & it's a short scale.
