1. You know what you need? & &
2. About 5-6 years ago in Vegas I was tempted by a Dingwall Afterburner (not sure if it was a 1, 2 or 3) I played in Ed Romans. It was $2900 (@ £1400 at the time) & there was none in any UK shops (or any in the UK that I'd heard of). I had the spare money, I went to the casino
3. +1 Get the Boss. Or save a little more & get a multi fx pedal.
4. Little Angels! I had an album of theirs. A bit like Poison without as much spandex. I didn't know they had enough songs to release a greatest hits! Was it an EP? Womankind was a good song. Anyway, sorry. I don't have any of their stuff. If you want some Van Halen, Talas or Madonna, I might be able to help.
5. It's the CMD-102p that I have & it is a seriously loud combo for just a 2x10. I've went from a Trace Elliott 4x10 to it & it blows the hell out of anything the TE could do. Get a try on one if you can & see if it's got the sounds you want. I used to play in a 4 piece rock band with 2 noisy guitarists & a shed builder & now play in a folk/country/jazz band & also planing on starting a DnB/Dubstep band & it copes with whatever bass sounds I'm after, from no effects to a bit of overdrive & to filtered sounds. Get in a shop that has a few bits of lightweight kit & try combo's & separates, see what fits your needs.
6. Have a look at some of the lightweight gear available. Something like a markbass or genzbenz head thru a couple of light bergantino or barefaced cabs. Would be more of an upgrade than a downgrade tho. I use a markbass 2x10 combo & it suits my needs perfectly & if I did need to shift more air, I'd add another 2x10 (tho I think it'd need to be a pretty big venue with no PA support for that).
7. Finally got a chance to listen to the link. Very impressive. Not the sort of thing I'd listen to on my iPod, but the sort of thing I'd happily pay to watch live.
8. If it's sub you're after then why not add a sub? I've long been toying with the idea of adding a folded horn sub (maybe a BFM Tuba) for getting that low end moving more things. A good 2x10 can give you just as much "bass" as a good 1x15. It's not so much what size the driver is, but how well tuned the cab is.
9. I've got a KitchenAid one.
10. Why not put the LPF between bass & head? Get a moog MF-101. The large peak in the low mids is most likely due to different sized soundwaves bumping into one another. What sounds good in one venue may sound guff in another tho due to room acoustics. The reason having same sized drivers is suggested is so that you don't get pleasent & unpleasent surprises, just the same at everywhere.
11.
Er yeah!
I think that one is the DnB concept. Tuned A-C & independent octavers for each string built in (hence all the controls). One for Shep maybe? Oh, & it's a short scale.
12. Find out what drivers are used in the cab (it might be written on the back of them) & then check the web for the specs. Then look fir similar spec'd drivers.

14. If I had the pennies, I'd have either of them.
15. Mine has the Omni-Adjust bridge, I believe they later replaced it with one called the Accu-cast. Not sure how it compares with the SR5xx bridges that appear to be having issues.
16.
Your car interior is full of electronics far more complex and sensitive than a a bass cab, and materials more delicate than paper cones (it even includes paper cones in the car speakers). None of them suffer from being part of a car. Unless your car leaks onto your cabinet or you leave the windows open there's no difference to it being anywhere else. A shed would be different.
Why would he want to stick a shed in his car?
17. You could always ask the drummer to leave the floor tom & take a minimalistic kit if the stage is too small, or maybe even get him one of these... Actually, I'd love to have a drummer/percussionist with one!
18. Here's the current SR Soundgears.
19. I've got a SR-1000 that I bought new just over 20 years ago & has been my main bass for just about everything. The necks on the SoundGear basses are very slim & have very good access right upto the 24th fret. I've never had that issue with the grub screws that Paul mentions, so it might just be on ones from that era or just the 6 stringers (maybe even restricted to 506s). The old Ibbys had IBZ C2 pickups, which was made by EMG for Ibanez. The higher end SR basses also have pretty good electronics & I've found the "Power Curve" system can give you a huge range of tones. The newer ones have Bartolini pickups. I originally bought the bass to play rock & metal (& it did the job just nicely), now I use it in an acoustic folk/country/jazz band & planning on using it for some DnB/Dubstep. It did start life as a metallic black instrument & just recently turned it into an ash finish (Yes, I stripped the paint off it!). I would like it as a 5 or 6 stringer, but the neck's too narrow to fit another in there. Anything else you need to know?
20. You know what you want?
21.
Haha, your process of deduction is ace! We are loud! I'll try it out. Saves on the back from lifting the head on top of both cabs...
I was 1/2 expecting to see a Little Giant wedged between those cabs.
22. If you're looking for a smaller board, why not rack your moogers & get a multi bypass pedal made that only takes up the space of one slightly largish pedal? If you don't turn the moogs off, then you wouldn't even need that! I know it's still another box, but might make an easier load.
23. Try it. Post your findings here.
24. Does anybody think that red "Musicmaster" looks nice? To me, the horns look ridiculously small & the headstock looks almost as big as the body. Just IMO.
25. Could always get a 5,6 or 7 string bass if you need the higher notes but don't want 24 frets. I want one of these or these! That way I needent worry about running out of frets.
