  1. Lemon is better than Orange. 🤠
  2. I've got an idea in my head & made a wee start on something today that sounds noting like what's in my head. My inspiration is the cat, but trying to go for a French sounding vibe (like Air's Moon Safari).
  3. Oooh wow. Thanks guys. I’ll get an inspiration pic across shortly.
  4. Good to hear it’s back. Hopefully you get the other bits back & the thief gets a bad bout of COVID.
  5. I’m all for lose a finger for a theft. It would make many think twice & the determined idiots are gonna find it hard to steal with just 2 pinkies.
  6. My dad in law gets acrylic nails on his right hand for playing acoustic guitar. I use the boney bit of my finger tips to play.
  7. Here it is now... It might go more versions, it might not. Depends what time I get. Enjoy...
  8. I'll join in on the classic 90's EDM. Love this one as it's written to be played by musicians & the bassline is a joy to play.
  9. Okay, I'm in. I see this as looking into the hazy past. So I've went with a late 80's early 90's vibe. I got a couple of new soft synths that sound fantastic, Serum & Pigments. The other synths on this are Cypher2, Equator & Logic's Drum Synth for the kick. New version... Played the bass, changed some sounds & added some textures. I'm planning on adding some further textures & maybe add some vocals now that I have a mic (don't worry, it'll be vocoderised), but I thought I'd get my entry in.
  10. Made this using Serum. Not bad for a 1st attempt & mostly using it's own presets.
  11. I've recommended Cakewalk to a few friends recently. I'm a Mac user & have Logic Pro X. There's a good selection of synths & so in within it, but I'm wanting some good pro quality VSTs. Having played with Serum a wee bit, I'm sold on it. It sounds fantastic. I'm gonna try Pigments2 & V Collection, but from what I've done with Serum so far, I think It's likely that I'll go with Serum & Pigments2.
  12. Indeed. I’ve got Labs & Discover.
  13. I'll have a look. Over the years I've tried a few free VSTs. u-he Tyrell N6 is pretty good (I believe it's based on the Roland Juno 106. I've downloaded the trial of Serum & so far, I'm impressed.
  14. I'm in dire need of some decent VSTs (software instruments), but haven't got the spare cash to buy outright just now. Thankfully Splice offer a Rent-to-own model, where you pay monthly, can take a break as often as you like & start again & once you've paid the cost of the software, it's yours. So I thought about getting either Serum as it gets rave reviews & is $9.99 a month for 19 months or Arturia Pigments2 for the same, but 20 months. Then I thought "Oh, Arturia V Collection 7 is $24.99p/m". That has 23 instruments modelled on classic synths & keys. I really don't want to spend more than that per month, but now I'm in 2 minds what to go for... Aturia V collection 7 or Serum and Pigments2? Has anyone on here got any or all of these? The good thing about Splice, is that you get to try for 3 days for free, so I'm going to download one today to try. Then do the same with the others at different times so I can have a proper play about with each. But I'd like to know who uses them long term?
  15. You do know that the urge to sing that song is just a whim away.
  16. How very dare you assume that person's gender! 😂 It's good to see a video where the camera shows the bassist more than any other musician. Most usually focus on the guitarist playing sod all when there's a good bass groove.
  17. IM are one of my dad’s fave bands. He’s 77. 😹
  18. I learned a lot of my techniques from Billy Sheehan - the Talas years book & cd. Most notably putting the hole finger over the index finger when tapping.
  19. Unless it's a slow bass line, then I'll use 3 or 4 fingers. It just makes quick bass lines easier.
  20. I’m another who pops a bit of disco octaves in some of the worship songs. I also used octave, dirt, LPF opening up over a 1/2 bar & chorus for a synth sound on Reckless Love. Most of the crop of worship songs have possibly the blandest bass lines since Coldplay. 😕
  21. I’ve been trying to do a little research on these, but there’s not much info. 6 reviews on trustpilot (there’s over 2500 for DJ Deals & they get over 4 stars). There’s a couple of mentions on DJ forums, one from 2012 & one from 2008, both saying good things about them, so it seems they’ve been on the go for a while. Just cautious, but it seems all legit.
  22. I’m thinking about getting myself some software & stumbled upon a company called DJ Finance Direct. They do 24 months interest free, which is t unusual for a DJ shop, however, most want a decent deposit for 2 years interest free. With DJ Finance Direct, you can have the deposit as low as 5%. I’m a little cautious of them as they also trade under the name “DJ Deals” and don’t offer 0% finance. Has anyone on here used them or should I steer clear? They do get a lot of good reviews.
  23. Stumbled across this & what a fantastic album it is too.
  24. That was awesome. I've seen others, but not that one. Moon Safari is one of my all time fave albums. Just love that most of the instruments are played rather than sequenced.
  25. Probably my fave song of his. I was singing it yesterday too.
