I'll have a look. Over the years I've tried a few free VSTs. u-he Tyrell N6 is pretty good (I believe it's based on the Roland Juno 106. I've downloaded the trial of Serum & so far, I'm impressed.

I'm in dire need of some decent VSTs (software instruments), but haven't got the spare cash to buy outright just now. Thankfully Splice offer a Rent-to-own model, where you pay monthly, can take a break as often as you like & start again & once you've paid the cost of the software, it's yours. So I thought about getting either Serum as it gets rave reviews & is $9.99 a month for 19 months or Arturia Pigments2 for the same, but 20 months. Then I thought "Oh, Arturia V Collection 7 is $24.99p/m". That has 23 instruments modelled on classic synths & keys. I really don't want to spend more than that per month, but now I'm in 2 minds what to go for... Aturia V collection 7 or Serum and Pigments2? Has anyone on here got any or all of these? The good thing about Splice, is that you get to try for 3 days for free, so I'm going to download one today to try. Then do the same with the others at different times so I can have a proper play about with each. But I'd like to know who uses them long term?

You do know that the urge to sing that song is just a whim away.

How very dare you assume that person's gender! 😂 It's good to see a video where the camera shows the bassist more than any other musician. Most usually focus on the guitarist playing sod all when there's a good bass groove.

IM are one of my dad’s fave bands. He’s 77. 😹

I learned a lot of my techniques from Billy Sheehan - the Talas years book & cd. Most notably putting the hole finger over the index finger when tapping.
-
Unless it's a slow bass line, then I'll use 3 or 4 fingers. It just makes quick bass lines easier.

I’ve been trying to do a little research on these, but there’s not much info. 6 reviews on trustpilot (there’s over 2500 for DJ Deals & they get over 4 stars). There’s a couple of mentions on DJ forums, one from 2012 & one from 2008, both saying good things about them, so it seems they’ve been on the go for a while. Just cautious, but it seems all legit.

I’m thinking about getting myself some software & stumbled upon a company called DJ Finance Direct. They do 24 months interest free, which is t unusual for a DJ shop, however, most want a decent deposit for 2 years interest free. With DJ Finance Direct, you can have the deposit as low as 5%. I’m a little cautious of them as they also trade under the name “DJ Deals” and don’t offer 0% finance. Has anyone on here used them or should I steer clear? They do get a lot of good reviews.

Stumbled across this & what a fantastic album it is too.

That was awesome. I've seen others, but not that one. Moon Safari is one of my all time fave albums. Just love that most of the instruments are played rather than sequenced.
-
Probably my fave song of his. I was singing it yesterday too.

Such a sad loss. This fine man made a few classic songs. https://apple.news/AWRYcK472TkOv0ZEvouUrwQ

Maybe not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’ve been enjoying listening to this today...

This sounds impossibe! So it's Bass > fx pedal > Amp > audio interface > Mac with LPX. Whatever is going into the interface is what Logic is going to record (less any VST fx). I'm looking forward to hearing what the outcome is.

Biggest Bass Drop... EVER!!! #Edit:It's come to my attention that the term “Bass Drop" is not universal so may I add that this thread is asking for members to share their favourite Outstanding Bass moments in songs & has nothing to do with dropping fish*
xgsjx replied to Ted Theodore Logan, III's topic in General Discussion
This has to be one of my fave tracks with a bass drop, it comes in at 38 secs. Have a decent pair of speakers or cans.- 66 replies

Cheers. Just had a look at that & the first 2 on the list I've been using for years, just not as collab. I've just signed up for Bandlab & had a wee play about & it seems to tick the boxes I need, but any other options are welcome. I'm gonna go & have a look at Blend & Splice for the collab side.

Hey all, Whilst I'm in iso with the rona, I've decided to do some songwriting with some friends via the web. I'd like everyone to be able to see what's happening as we work on the song(s). It'd probably start with one of us writing a simple chord arrangement & posting it, then each person adding parts, changing layout, etc. Is there any good websites or online software for this? The only one I've looked at in the past was Ohm Studio (which I'm gonna have another look at).

I’m really enjoying Tame Impala’s new album, the slow rush. Some nice bass lines on there too.
-
I’ll share it on some Scottish FB music pages (Perth, Tayside & Stirling) if it hasn’t been already.

I’ve been enjoying listening to this young lady quite a lot recently.

I’m going for a lawnmower solo. I was gonna try a bass solo, but no one wants to hear one of those!

Is it Daft Punk, Around The World? I’m sure I can come up with something for this month 😼
