Dodgy ads
I bought a shed online last week. Since then, the only Ads I've seen have been for online shed retailers.
I would have thought all the ads you'd see would be for drummers! I bought a couple of mics online about a month ago & most of the ads I see are for microphones.com.
3. Is your gear insured if you leave it unattended in your car?
4. But isn't a solution for the tiny stage mentioned (unless he kicks someone off the stage) & I don't understand why the OP would use a 4x10 when he has a 2x12. I'd flog the 2x10 & the 4x10 & get a 2nd 212, thus giving him the same sound as the audience hears.
5. It's a good idea & one I've toyed with taking up myself, but in this current climate I didn't want to take the chance. Still want to build a Tuba to add to my combo when funds allow.
6. Just had a quick look at ebay & the 1st thing to pop up was this... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bass-guitar-wood-eff...f#ht_500wt_1156 Made me laugh.
7. I'm agreeing with Chris here, you're changing things blindly without checking what you need. A GK head is a different sounding head from your SWR, so what sounds good through your monitor could sound pants out front. My advice would be try the EQ first. If you've got a little money then get a stand to put your cab on (there's a thread about that somewhere) or if you have a spare £500 then get another Neo 212 & put it on top of your current one. This way you'll hear what the audience hears (only a bit louder ).

New Moogerfooger

It has a switch that says "FLANGE"! I want one too. Now..... The scary price? £400 maybe?
9.
Clearly . I will claim confusion with Ken Taylor (Sandberg), but not Ken Barlow.
& here's me thinking you meant KT Tunstall!
10. I'm not familiar with the songs you're aiming for, but for newbies to fx I always suggest a multi fx box. The Boss ME-50b that Monckyman mentions is a very good start & can be used at any level of profession.
11. I think there's one already in the "amps for sale" bit for £650 ono.
12.
Well I've seen nothing in his attitude that would change my mind about buying anything from him, I have found him both rude and arrogant. I wouldn't buy anything from Dingwall due to taste but from Sheldon's posts, if I did like his basses I'm sure it'd be a pleasure doing business with him.
That's the problem with forums, emails, texts & so on. You can easily misinterpret what someone is saying. My mrs misreads texts from friends & thinks they're being off when it was just that persons sense of humour. She's actually fallen out with her best friend via text a few times & I've made her use the phone to make up, as written word doesn't carry the tone of the word. I'm not saying you're wrong Wayne, as I might be misinterpreting what's said, but from what Ken has said so far, I'd consider one of his basses if I had the money (though I prefer the shape of Ritter basses ).
13.
Ran it again. UPS = $147.25. Deffo. Possible confusion - UPS = United Parcel Services. USPS = US Mail. US Mail is cheaper, but I've heard lots of horror stories.
& I thought UPS stood for Useless Parcel Services. I think it's good that Ken has come on here to put his side across & hopefully show that he does care about providing good customer service. Skank's post has shown that the OP wasn't given a made up postage price (tho it is steep).
14. Cheers for linky Ou7shined. That's rather tasty (tho I still prefer the Super J). Did you do that Mr Wazoo? I wonder if the following will be a Super Bongo?
15. I play Electro acoustic & it's either straight into the PA (sometimes with a stage monitor) or plugged into my combo (Markbass 2x10).
16. What about them using a couple of multi fx pedals? It'd be a much simpler & cheaper option for them to have 2 floor pods or similar.
17. Hmmm, tricky one. How about a 2nd pedal board for simpleness? It sounds like you need something that works like a switchable effects loop that wont cut either channel. I'd PM Max
18. I think he's compressed the wife! BTW when I said I found it took away from my dynamics, I was trying to do what the OP was wanting one for & to get it to have that much effect to try & raise/flatten the notes is going to kill a lot of the dynamics (that's basically what he's trying to achieve in a way I suppose). & they was all sub £150 comps that I was using.
19. If you're not cutting thru then you might need to increase the mids on the amp.
20. Why not trade the bass for it's fretted cuz? Ironically, I'm contemplating defretting my Ibby! If I had a fretted jazz I'd swap necks with you.
21. Get a small silent runner. A couple of KVa is gonna be fine & just about any wee silent runner you choose is gonna be more than ample.
22. I use a Markbass 2x10 combo for everything. Loud enough to use without PA when needed & light enough to carry with one hand. I tried a lot of combos & rigs about 3 years ago & I ended up buying this blind from the Bass Merchant. It was probably the only piece of kit on my list that I couldn't try out & I'm really glad I took the chance as I prefer it over any of the other sub £1k rigs that I tried. It's probably the loudest combo I've used & blows the crap out of the Trace 4x10 combo that I was using before hand. I wouldn't say no to trying a Barefaced with something like an LMII tho.
23. I'd go with either a small head (such as Markbass, Genz Benz etc) & a Barefaced (or similar) or a decent combo & just use it for everything. Using different gear for different venues only results in inconsistent sounds.
24.
Played in a band once with a furniture maker that chopped fingers off in a saw. Fortunately he was a trombonist and the fingers were on his "slide" hand. He is now able to hook whatever is left into the slide and can still play great. (Not sure what his furniture making is like now ....)
Good job he wasn't a classical guitarist. Could have put a new meaning to "fingerpicking"! I'm in the "working silly shifts" camp. Every couple of weeks I'm working evenings & finish between 8-10pm.
