1. Anything weird or synthy for me
2.
PM'd, what's the main aim of a LPF and what can it do for your sound?
Here! I'm also using chorus, overdrive & some filtering but the exp pedal is controlling the LPF. There's quite a few great examples throughout this thread, so go & have a listen to everything.
3. You can make your own patterns on the Midi Murf (I'd have had one had they been out a year & a bit earlier). Giving you gas?
4. Any idea how much a magma fretless 5 would be about?
5. Cheers BRX, I now want a Spalt!
6. Looking lush! For a second there I thought you had two MF-101s! (now that could be interesting). Ever tried a MuRF? You might get good use out of a Bass or Midi MuRF as you can tempo sync them (BM only via CV or click, so could be taken from your existing click. The MM via Midi as well). Might be worth an investigation. I've got the BM & love it, but in the current band the sequencer on it doesn't get used enough for my liking. It does get used for filtered sweepy & OD sounds alot tho
7. I'm with the majority on this one. Voting wise that is! I've never read all the pages, but I will when I get to work if time.
8. Welcome aboard. There's plenty of basses on here to be gassing after!

Hi Hi!

Welcome to Basschat. Gas ahead!
10. Here's a belated welcome to BC.
11. Like Pete says, a small class D head is a good option. You should pick one up for @ £3-400 s/h on here. A couple of hundred should get you a decent wee cab, tho you might be better looking at a non neo 2x10 for £2-300. Other option is something like a Markbass combo s/h (usually around the £600 mark depending) or a wee Genz rig maybe.
12. I thought it was pretty amazing, looper or no looper. I really didn't expect that voice from someone who looks like Will from the Inbetweeners!
13.
From what ive heard what about http://www.myspace.com/thebasscellar
What are you hoping to get for £20k out of there???? A Squire VMJ if you're lucky!
14.
What bass could possibly cost 20k?
Well I could easily spend £10k+ with Jens Ritter if I had it & his basses go up to £250k. I'd have one of these made (if £20k was enough) & if there's any spare, I'd get another cab....
15. Any decent 2xwhatevers you like (I'd go with 2x10"s). Markbass, Gallien Krueger, Genz Benz are but a few that make some excellent 2x10's (or 2x12s). Other option is to go for single configuration cabs (such as 1x12 or 1x15). Avoid mixing speaker sizes & cabs with horizontal & vertical configurations (such as standard 4x10s) & you can't go too wrong.
16. Another option is the Markbass LMII (it's only as Hi-Fi as you want it to be, the Bad Monkey & the LMII filters will sort that out for you). They can be picked up from as little as £300- £350. You should be able to pick up an excellent cab for £3-400.

Chorus Pedal

I'm using a Boss CE-2 that I borrowed off a guitarist mate about a year or more ago & will need to replace it when I see him as I love the wowowowow for dubby sounds.
18. Man, I wish I could move like that when I'm not playing, let alone playing bass at the same time!
19. If you can try the cabs out, do so. You might prefer the sound of the ones with less overall loudness & I dare say either pair are gonna be more than loud enough for anything before the band need PA support.
20. Here's the rest of the pictures for now... Getting some Danish sanded into it... From an angle... Stuck together... & finished off for now... Excuse the pics, they was taken with my phone & put on flickr with the iPhone app (no editing or anything). I'll get some decent pics later. I'm gonna give it a wax in a few days time after the oil has lost it's stench.
21. I play in a wee Pentecostal church in Falkirk called the Life Church. It's only been on the go for just over a year & we don't have our own building, but are going to communities & using community halls. Most of the time I play guitar as there's only a drummer & a singer who plays a small amount of guitar. If she's confident with a set of songs then I'll pull out the bass, but that's not often enough for me We play a mix of stuff from Hymns to Tim Hughes & anything else that the congregation like. I'm really wanting to get You Wont Relent into our hymn book. Could really do with getting another musician or two through the door tho.
22. I saw this post when it first got posted & never got a chance to reply I had a look & is looking like a very good idea. I'll contriibute when I get a chance.
23.
I don't really think you can get someone else to justify why you should spend that money..you can either convince yourself or you can't.
Agreed. Tho I'm just looking for opinions as to why. I'd have no probs spending £10k on a Ritter if I had the pennies.
24. Is that a Wishbass? They make some cool instruments.
25. Jazz73, I like your thinking! The Mrs had said that if she had the money, she'd buy me whatever bass I wanted. She doesn't begrudge it at all. It's more a case of curiosity. I had given some examples of what might make a bass dearer, such as the wood used, the electronics, the finish & so on. Fair enough, I can't add a string onto my bass to make it a 5 (unless I want guitar spacing), but she's said "if you like the way "X" sounds, then why not use the same electronics, pickups & so on that X uses & pop em in Y? Eg, sticking Sadowsky components in a Squire.
