Well done. 🤟

Been working a bit more on this & feel like I'm getting somewhere. I feel it's went from amateure sounding to home studio. Still not there yet, but going in the right direction.
-
I think anyone covering a song shoudn't try to make it a carbon copy. No song is off limits to be covered (though I agree with Teebs, Oasis are dire).

That's what you get when you ask a witch doctor for a little head.

Sorry, I thought you were looking to swap. I could do you something like this, but on a bigger rock...

I updated my track (same track, just mixed a little better). If the link doesn't show in the list, then it's here... https://soundcloud.com/gxmix/steven-seagulls-tiny-house Gonna have a listen to the others. 😎
-
Cheers Ted. I updated the track on SC & wish I would have kept the original to compare. Though I put the most recent one as “Give me a sine” & the one before as “A sine” I’ll update SC with the first version if I haven’t deleted it.

Update... Had a listen in the car, made some tweaks & then used a multimeter plug in to help balance things out.

I've took most of the advice given (not been to a studio yet & can't afford outboard just now 😂). I've also watched a video on cleaning up the track and learned that the multipressor can be used as an EQ on the master out. Here's what I've done... https://soundcloud.com/gxmix/a-sine

Cheers @tedmanzie I’ll try some of your tips over the next few days. I’m not a fan of the kick either (it’s 2 different kicks layered). I’ll spend a bit more time panning things & take your advice on reverbs too. I’m not against option 2, but I have no money for a mix engineer, though I might try in the not too distant future.
-
You guys have given me some great advice here so far. I've been putting it to use on a track I'm working on (vocals were recorded by someone else, but all the rest is mine). Still sounds unfinished to me. Should I bounce the individual stems to audio stems, then mix & master?
-
I don't think it's the gear, I think it's me. I'll upload something I'm working on later to give you an idea (vocals are recorded by a professional & are from another song, it's a remix I'm doing), but even the Mrs says my tracks don't sound like finished songs & the instruments sound "cheap". I'll have a look at local studios & see what they have.

Cheers for this. Unfortunately, Variety of Sound only make Wondows plug ins (noting for Mac). But... You have helped me to discover that Logic has it's own tape saturation plug in (in the guise of a tape delay), so I'm about to give that a try. I'll try some of your other advice too.

I’m sure there was something similar to this a while ago, but I couldn’t find it. My sounds in my tracks always sound very amateur. No matter what I do, I feel like I’m polishing jobby. Ive not spent a fortune on sound equipment, I have Logic Pro X as my daw & apart from the stock plug ins, I have Roli Equator, Strobe 2 & Cypher 2 (both from FXpansions) & a couple of NI fx plug ins. I’ve heard tracks from other people using similar gear & their mixes sound like songs. Mine sound like a bunch of tracks playing at the same time. I have an NI KA6 audio interface to record my bass or guitar, but I rarely record as I’m never happy with the results. Can anyone help where I’m going wrong? Here’s a short house track to give you an idea of what I mean.

Fur Elise. I learned it on keys when I was a kid, then in my teens decided to play it on bass.

Show Yer Age! Name an EPIC song from your teens...

Every month I start a composition, but rarely get it finished. I had a little time, so thought I’d get to it. If I get another bit of time, I’ll plug the bass in & play the bassline. 😂

Mine is a different take. It's a party at Steven Seagull's tiny house. He likes his minimalist house music y'know. Hopefully it gets your feet tapping like his do.

That really depends on the drivers. Not all 10s are tight & not all 15s are loose.

I often wonder where he went to. We used to discuss effects for hours. He had a webpage dedicated to effects too, but unfortunately, it’s gone. All that’s left is this. https://simonpoulton.tumblr.com/sheponbass

It is a great place for whenever you need a bit of a lift. It’s good that you can have a debate & argue about one thing & be in full agreement about something else with the same person. Most (if not all) whom spend any time on here come across as great people, the sort of people that you can get on well with. You can even learn a bit about bass too!

This is probably my fave Xmas song just now.

Wasn't it the same tune as Antiques Roadshow?

AKA people whom either own a guitar (not bass) or sing in the car, I’ve had countless “singers” who are tone deaf, can’t ad lib, don’t own a mic & want to sing a bunch of pop hits in an originals band.

I don’t get your point. Isn’t it the same no matter the amp? I had a class d amp for about 6 years & had no issues at any of the gigs I played (or at any point). I’d give the amp a decent run & see how it goes. Did the seller say what caused it to cut out? It could have been an intermittent short in a cable, such as speaker jack having a fray hit the shielding.
