Form your own band and be the leader. Make sure you have a bug in the rehearsal space toilet so you can pre empt any whispered attempts to oust you, the leader. Make the other musicians sign a watertight contract agreeing the band is yours and you make all the final decisions. That should do it.
I tried that. Ended up sacking myself from the band! One thing to check... What are they expecting & can you commit & be reliable?

I had Tis on my bass for a few years & loved them. Snapped the D string! I couldn't get a single D string. Replaced them with D'addario Chromes & they're a much brighter string, but still really good. After a bit of playing, they become really comfortable.
Two 8 ohm 210's or one 4 ohm 410, perhaps? Why not buy a second 210RBH? Adding a second cab really starts pushing the bass out.
2 2x10s is a great idea.
I see these sort of posts from time-to-time and, as a postie myself, thought I would respond and, hopefully, put a few misconceptions to rest. Perhaps the biggest of these misconceptions is that sometimes the postie will not try too hard to deliver a parcel as it is “too much work/can’t be bothered/doesn’t have time/is a twat”. Let me run this past you. Actually delivering an item involves:-
Knocking on door or ringing bell

Waiting for householder to answer

Scanning item and getting signature if required

Handing item over to householder

Not delivering an item involves:-

Knocking on door or ringing bell

Waiting for householder to answer

Scanning item

Knocking on door or ringing bell

Waiting for householder to answer

Filling out P739 card

Re-scan item as “Not delivered”

Carrying said item for the rest of that particular loop or taking it back to the van

Applying “P739 left” sticker to item

Unloading item on return to office

Returning item to callers office for filing/storage
I’ll leave you to draw your own conclusions. This post had all the potential to turn into a mega-rant but hey, Guinness calls.
You sound like what a post should be. Most of the posties who deliver things to me are good, but some have been like this:
Scan item as “Not delivered”

Apply “P739 left” sticker to item

[s]Knocking on door or ringing bell[/s]

[s]Waiting for householder to answer[/s]

[s]Scanning item[/s]

[s]Knocking on door or ringing bell[/s]

[s]Waiting for householder to answer[/s]

Filling out P739 card

[s]Re-scan item as “Not delivered”[/s]

[s]Carrying said item for the rest of that particular loop or taking it back to the van[/s] it never left the van

Unloading item on return to office

Returning item to callers office for filing/storage

Got an idea in my head already!
Quite. The box ticked on the card says 'Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed', too. The postage seemed a bit steep, but I didn't seem to have the option of cheaper postage. So I paid for a service I didn't get. And had the work on the bass pushed back by the best part of a week.
You should make a complaint and demand a refund for the postage costs as they failed to deliver.

Sounds like you need to try a few different pedals to replace the Sansamp on the stuff it doesn't work on. It might take a bit of time, or you might find one straight away. For Filter/synth & was, look at a LPF with an expression pedal ( I rate the Moog MF101 highly & wish I'd never sold mine ) As for the others, there are a lot of options & it's probably hard to get a crapper these days.

I've got Chromes on my bass too. I use a PSK distortion set to just give a bit of drive & it sounds awesome. Add a bit of chorus during the guitar solo & it sounds MASSIVE!

Now, if your 2x10 is 4Ω, and you did rewire it to make it a 16Ω cab, that would be one of the few 4x10 & 2x10 rigs that would actually give each driver the same power! Why don't more cab builders do that?

What can't you live without...but don't really use?

Well pointed out Timmo. Looking at Paubass' pic, it's a very similar line. Ask UPS what should be used as packaging to protect agains forklift forks.
The GF does struggle to understand why I have 4 but she did buy me a stand with space for 5 so I do now need another one.
You could maybe fit a gu**ar in that slot?
I have just checked my home insurance and , unfortunately I do no have legal service cover
It might be worth having a word with Citizens Advice Bureau.

Not counting the bass in bits in the shed, I've mostly been a 1 bass guy over the past 30 odd years. The Ibby does just about everything that I want it to. However, later in the year that may well change. I'm finding more use for the need of a 5 string. Drop D is fine on what I have, but some songs could do with that low C or even B. I'm also tempted by fretlessness. Every time I play a fretless, I just love it. & then there's the idea of getting an electroacoustic, just so I can jam with the dad in law doing folk songs without having to take my wee combo down. Tempted to get a Warwick Alien fretless 5. But then, how much would I actually play it acoustically & would the fretless sound okay when playing a bassline that wasn't originally on fretless?
-
The Mrs has a [s]bed[/s]bowlback Ovation. It's been in the inlaws loft for the past 5 or so years. Fine if you're standing up, but try playing it without a strap whilst seated. It wants the strings to face your chest!
-
If they string it out, look for compensation to cover cab hire for the time that this was out of commission.
-
If you've got home insurance, check if you have legal services cover. That would be my first call. Did you take any pics of the packaging for proof?

Most pre 70s RnR. Just change the lyrics. If RnR never came out in the 50s/60s, but instead now, just think how many law suits there's be!

Cheers all. Sounds like the DI between the amp & cab is going to be fine. I've no idea how many watts the amp can put out, but I doubt it's much more than 100. Still torn between this & a Preamp DI pedal It'll not be until after I come back from holiday at the end of July that I get one, so plenty of time to decide.
Having re-read the OP, a standard DI box will not substitute for a speaker. It doesn't contain a dummy load, so if you're using a valve amp, you must connect one of those or a speaker to avoid destroying the output transformer. Some solid state amps are OK without a load (although they can get a bit hot - probably best to use one).
I didn't put it in my first post, but the amp & cab will always be used together.
Have a look at this Palmer PD09. You can plug the speaker out directly into it AND it has a speaker simulation built in that appears to work really nicely (I don't have one, but listened to a lot of demos on guitar), so you can get a nice sound for recording, monitoring with headphones... https://www.anderton...eaker-emulation
Funny enough, it was the PD-09 that I first saw & then looked to see what else they do. Then I saw the PAN-01 & thought it was just a cheaper version of it.
What's the reason for trying to put it between the amp and speaker? A DI like the one in your picture just sits between your guitar/bass and the amp, and the xlr output goes to the desk. It doesn't get much simpler... Or maybe I'm missing something?
I'd like to get the sound of my amp as well as the bass (an all valve Radiovox) out to the desk.

I hadn't planned on making one of those contraptions, though a few had made one & said they had no issues. I'll have a look & see what BSS offer & also the Behringer DI100.
"integrated switchable resistor network for extremely high input level" sounds promising. Will you be using a cab as well as the DI? If not, as mentioned above you'll need to be sure that the DI presents a dummy load in order to keep the amp happy.
I'd always use a cab with the amp.
Two things I think here. Firstly, and mainly. Please, don't DIY something like this. In terms of disasters, you've got everything from it breaking on you mid song, through damaging your amp, right the way up to death and everything in between. Secondly, I think you may be confusing active and passive DI boxes with speaker and intrstrument level DI boxes. DI boxes can be instrument level, line level, speaker level or more than one of those. And any of these types of DI box can be active (requires electricity to work) or passive (doesn't).
Don't worry about the 1st part, it's highly unlikely to get done & if it was, I'd be getting help from someone who knows what they're doing. Your second part hits pretty much what I wasn't sure of. Being a stranger to DI boxes, I had assumed that passive would work at speaker level. At church I run my bass to tuner/mute pedal to a small active DI box that runs phantom off the XLR & use IEM to hear me, the band & MD. The more I'm thinking about it, the more I'm thinking DI box with a preamp (such as a sansamp) between the bass & amp. This way I can use it with or without the rig. Both options are on the table still.

Oooh! Cheers chaps. That's what I want. I don't really want to be spending over £100 (preferably less than £50). Anyone used one of the cheaper ones, like that Millenium one?
