1. Well done Monrats. Great track. Stellar work from all the entries.
2. I've just spent the past wee while going through all the tracks & if someone wants to make an awesome sic-fi movie, then this is the entire soundtrack! I've got a job trying to choose just 3.
3. I suppose you've just found that watts have little to do with volume. Just like 200bhp can vary from vehicle to vehicle on how fast it goes.
4. Finally got a noodle. Does anyone else find that when you're not recording, you play smoothly, but the minute you hit that record button... Anyway, I actually came up with this when playing along with a DADGAD thing a guitarist was doing. They went well together. https://soundcloud.com/gxmix/soba Didn't intend on keeping the click track there, but now I know it bounces if you don't turn it off.
5.
Which sport will this World Cup be in? Clearly it's not football.
Shinty, of course.
6. The best way to protect it is to write a song about Scotland winning. There's many ways to officially copyright a song, but I believe it automatically gets copyrighted as soon as you've got your recording. Getting it out there? Try social media such as Facebook, twatter, Youchoob, etc. Hit the team's media pages with links & do lots of networking. Good luck with it.
7.
I've considered mounting my keyboard on a Segway
Well when you get older you could attach it to a zimmer.
8. I'll try & record a bit of bass later this afternoon.
9. I've managed to get mine a little better. I wasn't completely happy with the lead sound, so I've stuck a little dirt on it & added a 2nd instrument & mixed things a little better. https://soundcloud.com/gxmix/a74 Looking forward to listening to everyone's tracks next week.
10.
It's been seven hours and fifteen days.
Since she took her bike away.
11. They sell mattress protectors in the BC shop?
12. What about putting flatwounds on it?
13. Here's mine, mixed & mastered. https://soundcloud.com/gxmix/a74 I may go back for a further bit of mixing & mastering if I get time.
14. That's a crackin' idea, naming all the instruments & DAW used. It's good to know what people are using. I think I might follow in your footsteps with that one & hope many others do too.
15. I've made a start. Being a Sci-Fi fan, I get plenty of ideas from this pic (maybe too many).
16. It was supposed to be a "remix" of a song, but after playing about & making a track that sounded like Enigma, I decided to just keep the vocals & percussion, put some dirt on the piano & record my own bass & guitar & program some rock sounding drums & a few synth bits. Here's what I made. https://soundcloud.com/gxmix/flashbacks-gx-mix How do the drums sound? I'm never satisfied with my drums.
17. Have a look at the NI Komplete Audio 6 too. Fits in front of my macbook case & powers off the USB. Has 4 audio in/out, SPDIF in/out & MIDI in/out. Solid bit of kit too.
18. I'll pick 'em, slap 'em & finger 'em. Strings that is.
19. I've only listened to the early entries so far. I usually wait until they're all up & give the whole list a couple of listens. I'll listen to the ones on this page later today.
20. YouTube is a great place to get piano tutorials. The Roland ones are good for getting your posture & warn up excersises. Learn your correct fingering for both left & right hands.
21. Have a look at Freshman guitars too. You'll pick up a decent one 2nd hand well within your budget.
22. I'm taking a guess that it's an Ampeg PF500 & a Hartke 1x15.
23. I couldn't choose a definitive top 5, but here's 5 of my favourites. Girlfriend Is Better - Talking Heads Shy Boy - Talas The More I Have You - Kurt Elling Concerto Grosso, Op. 6, No 12 (III: Aria: Larghetto e Piano) - Handel Sweet Lovin' - Sigala
24.
Yeah I guess I could actual have just said "like Billy Gould's tone but with some bottom end". I actually had a listen to some of the isolated bass tracks on YouTube recently expecting to hear all the low end that I assumed was buried in the mix somewhere but no, there just isn't any!!
Come to think of it, Introduce Yourself has the same low end on the bass. Maybe Mr Gould was inspired by Billy Sheehan's "Talas" tone & thought "I can go one better!"?
25. Apparently died of the Flu.
