I am definitely going to get slagged for this but
Strange really how Cliff Williams of AC/DC does the same yet doesn`t receive anything like the hatred that Adam Clayton does - I should point out here I think Cliff Williams is an awesome bassist, not having a pop at him at all.
Before I got to this comment, I was thinking the very same. AC has more creative basslines on any one album than all CW's AC/DC basslines put together. I'm not slating CW either, he does what's needed (but he is a plodder ). -
Vocoder is a good shout. I'll give it a try.

I'm still trying to get the Mrs to sing. I tried, but I really sound awful. Even with pitch correction! It's my voices tone. I tried singing an octave up, which was marginally better, but still good enough to empty a venue. Everything else has been done, so it might end up as an instrumental.

I had this when I first got Logic. You don't need to highlight all the tracks. I click the "Bnce" button on the master track bus (it's below the fader), make sure the start & end are where I want them to be & select the format & quality. It's that simple.

My fave strings. Used them on my Ibby. I managed to snap the D string, so I replaced them with a set of D'Addario Chromes (a few folk on here recommended them to me), which are a rather good, cheaper alternative. TIs are better though & worth every penny IMO.

Funny you should talk about wifes. I've asked mine if she'll sing on mine. I've written some lyrics that I got just from looking at the pic & I've come up with a cool wee melody too. If she won't, then one of her friends are coming up tomorrow & she loves to sing too. Ahh, downside. I don't have a decent mic.
I did yep, I didn't realise they were German. It said they were in stock in branches, which is why I ordered them.
What about phoning the branch & get them to send & cancel the online order?

Much of the stuff I listen to doesn't have a bass guitar, though much still has a bass line on some sort of instrument. Come to think of it, very little of what I listen to it has a bassline played on bass guitar.

Try them all. Get the cabs you like the sound of.
Just listened to xgsjx' s I thought it was really interesting (in a good way), there was a few sounds in there that really got my attention.
Cheers It's played on my Ibby with flat wound strings, plugged into my mac & recorded in Logic X. I used one of the bass amp simulators that come with Logic & that was it.
Yes but point 2 is the hard bit. When I was looking for an amp for pubs gigs in a rock band I looked at a lot of 200 amps and read conflicting reviews where some said they were loud enough and others not. Even sales people in various music shops had opposing views and trying it in a shop does not give you any basis of how it would sound at a gig. I ended up buying a 500 amp to cover all bases hence my original post
& you'll find it can vary greatly from amp to amp. It depends on many factors with watts only being one of those factors & it's the cab which makes the biggest difference. The question is like saying "What's the point of 200bhp engines". It depends on many other factors.
Don't get confused. Just ask four questions: 1 Do I like the sound? 2 Is it loud enough? 3 Do I like how it looks? 4 Can I afford it? Four yeses and, bingo, you don't need to know how many watts or anything.
+1 Watts don't determine how loud an amp can go. They rate hair driers in watts too & theyre crap for playing bass through (thought they can do the required "trouser flapping" bit).

Can not wait for the new Incognito Album..!!

I see you've successfully escaped from the "Please delete" thread. Or is this just a temporary thing??? -
Here's mine... https://soundcloud.com/xgsjx/folk-this-bass & what it's become so far... https://soundcloud.com/xgsjx/folk-this-more I thought I'd share that noodles can be more than just dried noodles.
-
I recorded a wee bassline 'tother day with this thread in mind. But I've since added a guitar line to it too. I'll upload the bassline for the noodle comp & I'll also link the further works that's came from it.

One man's cool is another man's fool. This however, is cool. If you don't agree, then You are fool.

Believe it or not, I'm almost finished my track! Took the idea of her diving in, added the sunshine & blue skies & came up that it should be on piano. Got my melody & it's grew arms & legs already. I might spend the next couple of weeks fine tuning it & playing with filters, etc.
-
Cheers buddy. That gives me a lot to think about & I might just save my pennies. Still finding it tough to pull away from the Roli, but the more I think about it, the more I can see me getting much more use from an actual set of keys & a handful more VSTis.
I know what you mean. It took me months to decide to get my S61 and Komplete bundle. It's quite an outlay!
how did you find Komplete Select? If I go for the NI, I'd probably just get the keyboard with the bundle Select & maybe get the cross grade at a later date.
-
It's not a very February pic, is it. Which is a good thing, as it'll hopefully lift everyone's spirits a bit & add some sunshine.
Not to burn a hole in your pocket too much but did you see they're bringing out a Roli 49? RRP around a grand I think.
I saw the 49, but at £949 it's out of my price range. After hearing your composition, I'm still interested in the NI boards & might be interested in the S88. Decisions eh!
There is a iPad / iPhone Rise app, if you want to play around to see if the positioning is good for you
That's Noise. I got that last week. Good for messing about.
I have a Roli 25. I hate it for serious Keyboard playing, and don't use it for that (simple synth lines and Percussion yes), but......... for CC#'S (aftertouch, modulation, key switching, vibrato, articulations and dynamics etc), especially on the more in depth Orchestral Libraries, it's absolutely fantastic. It's own software Instrument is very hit and miss, (well for me, buggy. But I suppose that will change). You need to make sure that your software synths are compatible to get the full effect. I found it works great with Kontakt and Omnisphere 2. (Running it in Cubase 8.5 - If DAW makes any difference).
Cheers. Do you think I'd maybe be wiser to get an actual keyboard (looking at the Akai Advance or NI S61/88) & then getting the Rise at a later date? I know that if I had a keyboard, I'd be playing piano & synth quite a lot. With the Rise, I know that I'm gonna have to look at it for what it is, an instrument that's not a keyboard, but can control many of my VSTs.
Had a play on one and found it really hard to play. My fingers kept sticking to the keys. So unless the previous person has particularly sticky hands I don't think it's for me unfortunately. Shame as I could have used it as a controller for my Kronos
I know what your problem was... Trying to play it like a keyboard. You need a really light touch. I had no probs playing it, just takes a little time to get used to (that's been my 3rd shot on it & the first time I felt it was sticky, but the following 2, I found it fun).

Wanted to see if there's any of you that have got a Seaboard & what you think of it. I'm considering getting a Rise 25 & was impressed when I had a play about on it, but as this will be my only set of keys, I'm reluctant to pull the trigger. I'm wanting something to use with Logic Pro X as a controller & I know I have to look at the Seaboard as an instrument first & trying to compare it to a keyboard is like trying to compare bass with cello. As I already have bass & guitar for recording, I think it could be a good option. All opinions are welcome.
