1.
I appreciate this approach, but I just love the sound that the OB1-300 makes. It really works for me and would be very usable for the kind of music that I am playing with my main band. I was just hoping for some tips regarding cabs since I had no idea where to start and figured some folks on here have no doubt been in the same situation and would have lots of wisdom on the matter.
So on that, why not buy the cab that you heard it through? That way you're gonna get that sound that you heard & liked.
2.
Can't beat a good old fashioned mouse nest, stale pet urine or a nice mould forest IMHO, spiders just aren't stinky enough.
Good point. But if you play through the cab, then the spiders might come running out, which could be a nice touch on stage. And if you have a female singer, they'll help her reach the high notes.
3. Spiders! If I was looking in a filthy cab, I'd look for spiders.
4.
I know because my keyboard player moved to Elgin - driving up via the Great Glen and Loch Ness feels eternal.
That's a long way round for a shortcut. I used to go up to Elgin often. Head up the A9, cut off at Aviemore & head along the A95.
5. I use ipostparcels & have no issues (very affordable too). Where's your buyer based?
6. I could be wrong on this, but every time I've looked at watts & ohms, 8 ohm usually works out about 2/3 of the 4 ohm rating.
7. 8 ohm. 8 & 8 make 4 when it comes to ohms. Even if you're not planning on adding a cab, go for the 8 ohm as the difference in volume is so little it's hardly worth wearing your amp out for.
8. My singing voice has emptied pubs. Literally!
9. 3. Guitar toolkit on the ipad, Polytune on the (broken) iphone & the most regularly used one, my ears.
10.
Still leaves lots of other branches.
I'll see if I can carve something different, but it wood need to be good.
11.
Here we go, then; here's my interpretation of the photo ... Elegy Written For An Allergic Stump ... Full details on the host site, so I shan't repeat here. Enjoy.
Well after listening to that, every time I look at the picture all I can see is a sneeze coming on. Now I'm completely stumped!
12. What about a hiab? I got a length of acoustic drum riser foam & cut it in half & placed them under the cab anytime I was on a wooden stage.
Skyhooks?
Believe it or not, there is such a thing as skyhooks. I had a set for using to assemble a Ferris wheel. They're 2 3' long rods bent to a spiral hook at one end & joined by a steel ring at the other. They attach to the end of a spoke & the ring gets attached to a snap block to pull the wheel around whilst putting on further spokes (arms).
13. Oooh. Just had a look. Now that's another fine option. I might hold off & get that & a camera kit for the ipad.
14. I'd be inclined to suspect there was already a fault with the driver (going on what you've said so far). Though if you had the lows boosted quite a bit, then that could cause an issue.
15. I was looking for a decent set of headphones for very little money. I was almost buying a pair of Sennheiser HD201s until I saw this thread. I know £75 isn't a lot for a decent pair of headphones, but with that being out of my reach (there's other things I need to buy), the Edifiers are very tempting. I wouldn't expect the build quality or after service of a more expensive pair of headphones, but to have a good sounding set of headphones for not a lot of money is a great thing when the pennies are tight.
16. If you're listening to the studio version, there's every chance you'll need your own sound engineer to get it the same. I don't know the song, but is it the exact same sound live?
17. I'd love to be a house bassist. Electronica is the closest that I've got. House music has some superb basslines.
18. Learning a new technique always helps when I hit a wall. Just now it's double thumbing.
19. Yup. I'm getting folk music with chainsaw guitars. Maybe Kris Dreaver meets GWAR?
20.
... Note! There is no such thing as Ohmage!
Now that's not quite true... It's just spelt differently & means something completely different.
Homage
21. Another tight result. Good winning track! Was a tough call to choose who to vote for too.
22. I'm gonna have a look at the Roland. Sounds like it might fit the bill.
23. If you have a mac, open Garageband (or Logic) & you can take a drummer track & transport it into a midi track. Another great place for loops of all sorts is wikiloops.
24. I've looked at both the Blackjack & the Apogee Duet. The blackjack sounds good, but it does lose out on the midi. The apogee is too dear for me.
