[/quote] Tapping isn't hard once you get the hang of it & it's not painful in the process. Billy Sheehan suggested putting your middle finger over your index finger. It gives more velocity when practicing & I used this method for a long time.

Just went back to having a try at double thumbing. Is it one of those things that you need to be plugged in to do? I only tried for about 5 mins & the corner of my thumb at the nail is red raw. My ordinary slap technique is pain free as I use part of my thumb near the knuckle, but this double thumbing malarky is painful! Double thumbing is my bug bearer just now, but like anything, practice is all that is needed.

That's a fantastic find. Looks good too. Heavy Duty Velcro would have no problem holding the amp to the cab, it's unbelievably grippy, but I'd agree that you wouldn't want to stick it on those cabs. The glue on the back is mega strong.

I find it strange that cliffy couldn't get loud enough for his band. I played in a loud band & had no trouble being heard. I'm guessing either he has one really loud band, had it set up poorly, just wasn't suited to his bass or was really unlucky & had 2 faulty units.

Adding a cab that isn't the same as the combo (that'll be the 102 STD) is going to change your sound & most likely sound different at different venues. It might sound good, it might not. As for the combo, I had one for many years & only sold it as I'd stopped playing live. If I start again, I'll possibly get another. The Italian built ones were around the £1k mark in the shops & had B&C drivers (no idea what the drivers are now). I think folk are willing to pay for that, knowing that it's a solid built combo. As for sound, it's probably the loudest & best sounding combo I've ever played through. Blew the old TE 4x10 combo back to the 80s.

That's maybe why a few known bands can't be found on spottythigh or pandora. Whereas they may not get much revenue from these sources, all the people mentioned still did all right from downloads & sales (not to mention touring). If you're thinking of money, then that's the wrong reason to start/join a band. If it's for money, then you want to be a promoter.

If I fetched either home, the wife would gi me grief. I'd take my chance with the Ritter though.

But I'm not sure if you'd get as great a sound with a hardware controller as you do with the touchscreen. Another one under that category is Akai iMPC, but they do a controller for that called Fly. Alchemy is another good synth. THere's many good ones from Korg, Arturia & several others, but I've not tried them.

2x12 is what I'd go with too, though I never struggled to get a good sound & be heard with a good 2x10. If you want height, you could go for 2 2x10/2x12s.

I can play "Hit Me...", but I'm about 5 BPM too slow. I've tried, but it's gonna take me a good bit more practice to get there. I found out that I can play Nutbush City Limits last week. Listened to the Jo & Beth version, picked up my bass & played along. I started singing along too, but both my cats started clawing at me.

Akai make a keyboard controller for the iPad. Slide your iPad into it & use the 1/4 jacks on the unit for output. Plays whatever synths you have on your iPad.
