  1. No more nails? I'd go with heavy duty Velcro.
  2. I liked the bassline. I don't like the bass sound. Needs the mids rolled back a bit.
  3. I think you'll only need to mic it to get the mid & top across the audience. Should have no probs with the lows. Your next project could be building a really small cab (like a 1x8") and wire a crossover so that it just gets mids & highs. You'll have one cool looking stack.
  4. [quote name='JTUK' timestamp='1431713815' post='2774315'] Can't watch it.... [/quote] You'll need to watch it with the Mrs now.
  5. I'd happily jam with someone who was a novice to a genre that I was comfortable in. The novice has the ability to learn & with jazz, influences from other genres is a good thing.
  6. Hook on the pedal so if you want to use a fine loop carpet on the board, you can.
  7. Only you can say if you need a compressor. I don't use one. I doubt anyone in the pub would know if there was a compressor on unless used heavily. Even when I was using a lot of fx, there wasn't a compressor on my board. If you're struggling with the EA & DG strings, then adjust the string & pickup height or take it to someone who knows what they're doing. If you find the song with the pick is louder on the bass than the songs with fingers, there's a small dial on your bass that is sometimes labelled "Vol". In the studio is a different matter.
  8. [quote name='Machines' timestamp='1431675198' post='2773786'] BB got me into the blues, now the thrill is gone. [/quote] You sure that wasn't Fats Domino?
  9. [quote name='Dad3353' timestamp='1431642928' post='2773657'] Surely he's at the wrong gig..? [/quote] But what size drivers is he playing through?
  10. [quote name='JTUK' timestamp='1431628821' post='2773440'] I know who my money is on.... [/quote] This guy.... [url="https://youtu.be/vns8T-OQvC8"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vns8T-OQvC8[/url]
  11. [quote name='operative451' timestamp='1431605649' post='2773059'] Hi everybody! ...But the only info i can find about 'adaptive volume' on google talks about cars and the stereo getting louder as you go faster, and its probably not that! [/quote] That is one of the most irritating things ever invented! I'm just glad they made it so it can be disabled. Edited to say, it actually works the other way around. You set the volume regardless of speed, but then when you slow down, it turns down. I think the inventor of that feature deserves to go here... http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2012/04/05/how-long-could-you-last-in-the-worlds-quietest-room-the-record-is-only-45-minutes/ Sorry for going OT.
  12. You have no control over what has or hasn't happened to the courier or what actions he takes when "doing his job". You did the correct thing by asking how to raise a complaint about what had happened and making the complaint. Had I gotten no answer, I'd have raised it further too, just like people do at where I work. The complaint was just, as the outcome could very easily have been different & there's nothing to say that the courier wouldn't have thought twice about doing it regularly. The only person who can be blamed for the courier getting action taken against them is the same person who forged your signature. With this being a forum, there will be people who don't agree with you & try turn the blame on the victim. That's just the way of some people.
  13. [quote name='Beedster' timestamp='1431587352' post='2772762'] And BTW I expect that somewhere in PFs T&Cs a driver signing for a package is NOT considered fraud. [/quote] If he signs with "His" own name, then it wouldn't be fraud. But to sign as the receiver is another matter as he's pretending to be someone he isn't. If I know I have a delivery and not going to be in, I contact the company or leave a note to say where the item can be left.
  14. [quote name='Billy Apple' timestamp='1431586296' post='2772747'] I think this is a harsh judgement for someone doing a fairly menial job. Surely fraud is where someone has gained financially. The person who has gained is the OP who has got his goods, albeit in an unconventional manner. No one on this forum likes the idea of basses of all things being left unattended and at the mercy of the elements, but I think things need to be put into perspective, the bass was not damaged, not stolen and delivered on-time. All the bad things we talk about did not happen. Maybe the driver is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't and It's a pity this was not an opportunity for education and training. [/quote] It might sound like a bit of a harsh judgement, but then his employer will have told him the rules. If they hadn't, then he possibly has a legal case. Fraud isn't always about financial gain. In this case it may have been about gaining personal time, but he should have taken this up with his employer. Maybe the deliverer had some issue such as struggling with the amount of drops he had, but then he should take these thing up with the company. I was a delivery driver doing multi drop many moons ago. If there was too many for me to get through, then I'd raise it with my manager. I know how hard a job it can be, but if you can't handle that kind of job, do something else. I do think terminating his contract is a bit hard. I had an issue with a delivery driver tearing open an 8kg box of chocolate that I ordered for making a wedding cake & helping himself to a few hands full of callets. I don't know or care what happened to the chap. But I did complain on the company's Facebook page with photographs. Had the supplier not been so good, then there would have been no wedding cake on time.
  15. Why not get a LMII? I know your first post said it was "[color=#141414][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif]that can be more easily repaired". [/font][/color]I never had one bit of trouble from mine & had it for 7 years & Markbass seem to have a good rep for fixing any that do fail & they also offer a back up head. By "headroom", what do you mean? I never found it lacking in available volume & you've said that volume isn't an issue. Is it more in a physical sense so you can sit some rack effects on top of it?
  16. I agree. Forged signature is fraud. What if someone had stolen the bass after the deliverer had left it? He was paid to do a job. If he's not willing to do that job, why does he deserve to keep that position?
  17. If you're wanting a flexible rig, then you might want to consider getting something as transparent as possible & use pedals to get the sound you want. Going on my own experience, Markbass combos are very clean sounding & have quite a good EQ/filter section. I then used pedals to get the sounds I wanted. There's a few on here done similar. Rather than carry some old valve job, they've went for a valve preamp pedal (such as as a Tech 21SansAmp) & put it through a more transparent sounding rig.
  18. [quote name='JTUK' timestamp='1431459410' post='2771636'] Because if they are any good, they will be the main selling point of the band..and then they also get to choose the material as they have to sing it... so it easier to let them think it. After a few months you can slap them down... [/quote] If that's the sort of band you'd want to be in. I sacked a singer because he only wanted to sing pop rock covers & not do any original material, despite the advert saying that it was an originals Acid Jazz/funk band. When did Green day become Acid Jazz?
  19. The sensible thing to do, would be to grab your bass & go to a place with lots of different rigs that you can try. Failing that, you need an Ampeg SVT & 2 8x10 cabs if you're to be taken seriously.
  20. It can be hard to find a singer that knows the voice is an instrument just like any other. Practice & rehearsal make for improvement. I had an excellent singer who said to me when I told him that I can't sing "it's just like any instrument. If you practice it & get tuition, you can learn to get a tune out of it". My Mrs, who is a pretty good singer, was trying to tell me that it's completely different & that anyone can learn a physical instrument, but not all can learn to sing. I disagreed with her & pointed out that there's many musicians put in the hours & effort of the likes of Billy Sheehan, Steve Vai, Herbie Hancock etc & many fall way short. Just like there's many vocalists that have put in the time & fall short of the likes of Kurt Elling. I believe that if a singer is serious about joining a band, they should have some basic knowledge of music, & I don't mean like "Halo is a Beyonce song".
  21. Most likely a typo, or one of the staff having a laugh.
  22. At leat they'll price match... http://www.lean-business.co.uk/eshop/eminence-basslite-s2012-8ohm-12-neo-150watt-bass-guitar-speaker-p-864.html Think of the rig you could buy for the price of 1 driver!
  23. Online demos are good to give you an idea of what the pedal does, but unless you're using your rig for the audio, you're not gonna get an accurate representation of the sound. My old rig never has the oomph in the videos that it had in the real world.
  24. It'd be cool if he sang with a full Cumbrian dialect... "Ah's gan yam wi yim marrah", etc. More singers should keep some dialect in their singing. Hope he puts on a great gig for your Mrs.
  25. Best way to post photos is to put it on a photo sharing site & copy the BB code & paste it here. Flickr is relatively easy to use for that.
