  1. It's not to my knowledge called anything. it's a shuffle rhythm. Here's a screenshot of the bass line to the ABBA song.
  2. The two songs you mention are both in 4/4 time. An example off the top of my head of 6/8 is Miles Davis’s all blues. Waterloo by ABBA is a classic disco song, definitely in 4/4 time.
  3. They are really excellent. Unfortunately their prices aren't as competitive as they used to be, not their fault of course. Their warranty is amazing, is it 3 years or something?
  4. Lee Pomeroy plays like that, maybe it's him. One of my tutors at uni also plays like that.
  5. I gigged in Paris earlier this year, and went by Eurostar, absolutely no problem at all. My bass went on the luggage rack just like a regular train.
  6. Bump..ump...mp...pppp.
  7. A 'step' in music traditionally refers to the movement of an interval of a major second or a tone, half a step is a semi-tone. This is what Steve Woodcock is referring to. In music, possibly in many other things too, what we say might actually have a different meaning altogether, hence Steve's reply.
  8. I'm possibly tempting fate here, but I have never had an occasion when Logic Pro has crashed. I even use it live.
  9. I always fancied a beard like that.
  10. Do they take payment immediately or when the order is actually confirmed by them? Thomann don't until they actually confirm, I don't think Amazon do either. It'll take a few days for refunds to go through too, if they have taken payment.
  11. I think they were also fretted at this time too? I’m looking forward to this at my university in March. http://barber.org.uk/fretwork/
  12. Online: The situation is not as clear-cut online. The legally binding contract is complete when a retailer accepts an order. However, acceptance does not necessarily happen at the point of order. Even the confirmation email may not be an acceptance. Some retailers reserve the right to cancel an order up to the point of delivery.
  13. Is it different to a shop then, where they have to sell it at the advertised price?
  14. The small print says they're only 20cm tall.
  15. I don't really know what that is tbh, but I'm guessing it's a lot lighter than my 6.5kg bass :).
  16. A grand total of 72. Including 2 in Paris, and 24 of them were solo.
  17. Still, still available.
  18. I’ve had a few messages about trades. I have very specific wants regarding trades. It must have 6 strings, fretless is fine. Regarding manufacturers, ideally an Overwater, I love everything about Chris’s instruments. I would also be interested in trades for the following: Modulus Quantum, I had an amazing one for about 4 years and foolishly sold it two years ago. I still miss it now. Zon Sonus, I’ve owned a couple of these, they’d really suit what I do. I can add cash for the right instrument. Trade instruments must be in good condition.
  19. Yep.
  20. Why I love Logic Pro, though I’m sure other DAWs will do the same. I’ve been doing a remote session for a guy over the last day or so. It’s a kind of prog-rock thing in 7/4, very, very minimal percussion and drums. All he sent me was a WAV of the track. I imported it into Logic Pro, and using the tempo detect the tempo fluctuates quite a lot. So just playing along and recording was ridiculous. There are piano stabs at the start of each bar that you need to hit, which isn’t easy when they don’t fall exactly where you anticipate them. They were only maybe a fraction of a second out, but it sounds messy if you don’t get them exact. The tempo detect function though will not only detect the tempo but also add a click to record along with.
  21. I thought we weren't allowed to mention it?
  22. Thomman used to be my first port of call for most things. Alas not so now, something happened in late June last year that has seen their prices rise so they're no longer as competitive as they were. Could it be that their stock turns around faster than a lot of smaller UK shops, so the prices we're seeing are reflecting the lower value of the pound?
