1. In excellent condition. Four of them, all 6 inches long. These: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Jim-Dunlop-Angled-Instrument-Guitar/dp/B01FHW5N7U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499530189&sr=8-1&keywords=mxr+patch+cable £15 including postage.
2. Richard Barbieri this evening in Birmingham .
3.
D'addario's cable systems are very good. I'd recommend those!
Thanks, I like their stuff a lot, I'll check them out 😊
4. What's a good one? Must be solder less, I can't solder. My board looks a complete mess at the moment. I've seen this one on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rayzm-Solderless-Pedalboard-Noiseless-Instrument-x/dp/B01M1KPJFS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499522328&sr=8-1&keywords=pedalboard+cable+kit Thanks .
5.
So why not get them to pay using this? Doesn't cost them any more - why would they decline? Scared of being scammed?
It'll be a hacked account, or a stolen or cloned credit card that they're using. My mom had her card cloned at a petrol station a few years ago. When she got her statement through, there were lots of £1 transactions to iTunes taken from it, this is done to check the card is still valid.
6. I always state cash on collection only, no other arrangement will be entertained, in capitals on the advert. I've actually met some very nice people who've bought stuff from me through Gumtree, you just need to be sensible.
7. If someone pays via Paypal, then the item has to be sent to the address held by Paypal, using a tracked and signed for service, which is why you can enter a tracking number on Paypal when you despatch it. If someone collects, then there's no proof of delivery. They turn around and say it wasn't received, Paypal gives them their money back. I've had it where they say they can't collect because they're ill, they usually say they've got cancer or something horrible like that. Don't play around with them, just delete their texts and ignore them. These are criminals, not people to be messing with.
8. I think he just uses a reverb pedal and a radial tone bone. He's an Aguilar endorsee, so maybe look on their website.
9. There was a lady who came to audition for a jazz collective that I play for. Lovely lady, very friendly etc, but a hopeless singer. Songs in one key were too high, down a semi-tone too low.
10.
There are probably fewer singers than even bass players who have had any formal training in their chosen discipline, and thus do not have the technical know-how as to how to use their instrument (the voice...). Good singers can, indeed, choose the range in which to perform, and match their voice to the song (within limits, naturally...). Lessons would solve most, if not all, the issues one has with many singers, I reckon, but try convincing some of 'em of that..!
You're absolutely right. At uni the vocalists used to spend ages going through warm up exercises before singing. They would never just get up and grab a mic.
11. Depends how good they are at singing. There are singers, and there are people who sing, the two aren't necessarily the same.
12. The most you can draw will be whatever fuse you've got in the plug, maybe 13a?
13. I played on one a few years ago. They don't mind you drinking, you actually got a discount for drinks. I don't drink anyway.
14. First time I've seen an ugly Wal.
15.
If you want a high F the only one possible is the pyramid .020 nickel flatwound, it's perfect on a 34" scale, more tension but I use it with chromes or rounds and I lower the action to compensate in this case.
Thanks, tbh I've kind of given up on flats for it. I've spent I don't know how much experimenting on different strings for the high F. For normal round wounds there's no problem at all, lots of choice. There is a company in America that I've found will make me a set, but they're in the process of moving and have quite a backlog of orders already,
16. It does take a little adjustment. I spend an hour or two each week practicing sight-reading treble clef melody lines from my real books. I haven't had much time this last couple of weeks though. Yesterday I was teaching one of my students and we were playing some Frank Sinatra melodies, I struggled . When I was at uni in Years 2 and 3 we had to do a lot of orchestral stuff, so I was switching between treble clef, bass clef and alto clef, I used to get totally confused.
17.
re: matching high F - I guess none of their jazz guitar flats would be long enough? GLWTS - top strings..
I found D'Addario chromes were long enough, they just sounded too different though.
18.
So... Photobucket seems to have stopped letting me share images, that's new... Imgur it is from now on then.
What wood is that?
19.
Luckily, Ambient comes across as a good guy. Can't see him scoring out Agadoo as a cruel joke!!
I'd never do such a thing .
20. Confidence with your abilities or in general? I had problems with both during uni. I have Aspergers which was the cause. If music is what you enjoy doing, you don't necessarily have to play in a band. Maybe explore writing and recording your own stuff? Alternately advertise and start your own, doesn't need to be a full band to start with, just jam with a guitarist and take it from there.
21. If you can let me know how much of the song, I'm guessing just an excerpt? I can do it in Sibelius.
