1. A friend of mine has successfully toured the world with jazz guitar supremo Martin Taylor playing an old Aria semi-acoustic bass. I've absolutely no idea what model it is, but to does sound very pleasing, and Martin Taylor must like it.
  2. He's on Facebook, try messaging him on there?
  3. Cut to fit a 35" scale Overwater 7 string, allowing at least 3 wraps around the tuner. Used for about 2 hours. I'm selling because I couldn't find a really good match for a high F string. £30 posted.
  4. A bass is just a tool. You'll still sound like you regardless of whether you're playing a £150 instrument or a £1500 instrument. I did an unexpected dep gig last year, my own bass was in having some work done on it. I borrowed the drummer's £70 Aria fitted with strings that were last changed about the time that invites were being sent out to the last supper.
You're correct. Page 22: http://cdn-downloads...ual-english.pdf
Thanks
Your looking for a loop pedal with trails. Something like this would do: http://www.brightoni.../trails-looper/ What delay are you using? Quite a few of them have trails as an option.
TC electronic Flashback. I wasn't sure if the sound still coming from the Flashback would carry on outwards, or is it just the input signal that you're bypassing?

    Boss LS2.

I'm a total technophobe, so excuse my ignorance here . I have quite a few pedals on my pedal board, the most important one is my delay pedal, I use a very long delay as a kind of looper, I like the way the 'loops' gradually fade. I'm looking for a pedal that will allow me to bypass the delay pedal, but I still want what is coming out of it to carry on through to my amp/PA. Would the LS2 enable me to do this? Or is there a better alternative?
  9. If I examine the kind of music I've been listening to over the past 5-10 years it is not guitar centered at all. The truth is, for me at least, virtually none of the new exciting sounds in music are coming from guitar players. And if does, they are guitarists that so brilliantly disguise the source of their sounds you'd never know or think "guitar"
  10.
Hmm... Not sure if buying a strap, albeit a vegan vinyl strap, from a company specialising in leather goods is in the spirit and ethos of vegan..? The Californian Couch straps look to be about as vegan as they come. Worth inquiring as to availability, for those interested in cruelty-free, no sweat-shop, vegan products, maybe..? Not bothered, myself; just sayin'.
I agree. I like the recycling aspect of what they do too.
  11.
Couch straps are vegan and I have several, mostly made from old car seats from classic American cars. https://www.couchguitarstraps.com/
Thanks! They look superb, and I like the recycling aspect too.
  12.
sometimes you just have to admit that nothing beats leather for such things
To an extent I do agree with you. Though surely by now you'd have thought they'd have invented an alternative.
  13.
Take a look at the Gruvgear solostrap neo. expensive but good and animal parts free
Yes! Excellent, thanks. Faux leather . http://www.gruvgear.com/solostrap-neo
  14.
https://www.thomann....CFe0Q0wod4hgKBQ
What are the ends made from?
  15.
Plenty of fabric/webbing straps available. Try Google. Or have one made? If you can afford a custom 7 string, I should imagine money isn't an issue.
Problem with webbing is they squash up. I got the bass used and had to sell pretty much everything to buy it. Thanks though.
  16. I'm looking for a new strap. I'm vegan, so would prefer not to have anything made of leather, and I don't like neotech straps, they're too stretchy and bouncy. It needs to be quite wide and padded, I play a rather heavy 7 string bass, it's something like 6.5kg. A lot of straps have the main part made of something animal friendly, but still have leather ends where the strap locks go. Any other vegan bassists?
  17.
I've had one of these for a couple of years: https://totalsounds....uck-p-4336.html Compact and sturdy. Means that I can travel on buses and trains with a full gigging rig. Highly recommended.
That looks great.
  18. It'd be great if it was Adrian Belew, Stewart Copeland and a bass player who wasn't Mark King.
  19. I love Radiohead, one of the few bands that I like pretty much everything by.
  20.
You didn't have a backup with you?
😄 Luckily I managed to find the nut that had fallen off, and managed to make an emergency repair. There was a policeman on duty by Bristol cathedral, he helped me.
  21. I bought one from Maplins about 3 years ago. Unfortunately one of it's wheels fell off last weekend during a trip to Bath and Bristol for gigs. It lasted amazingly well though, especially considering it's price. I've no idea how many hundreds of miles it's traveled around the country, it went with me to Paris even in April. Carrying everything from my double bass around London to my Markbass combo, to all my solo'y gear. So, I'm on the hunt for a new one. I have slightly more to spend this time around, better quality, though I have to say there was really nothing wrong with the other one, I would like something slightly better built, and maybe a little larger, though it needs to be train friendly. So suggestions please .
  22.
Excellent design and really enhanced protection. A bit heavy but my favourite bag
I'd say it was definitely the best of the hybrid designs.
  23. He's a phenomenal musician, a real depth to his playing and knowledge.
