1. I don't understand the animosity toward the guy. He's totally free to advertise it for whatever he wants, and in whatever condition. If someone os fool enough to pay hundreds of times more than it's worth, the that's down to them.
 2.
Excellent! I hope someone took my advice and created a shill account to place the bid. That way very soon he will be paying nearly £20K in final value fees when the auction ends!!! and yes that is right, the charge goes on to your next invoice when the auction ends, not when the buyer pays!
Only if the sale actually went through. If the buyer didn't pay, and I very much doubt he would, then he'd just cancel the transaction.
So there is justice in the world...
Why? He can advertise it for whatever he wants, whether he sells it is another matter. He's got a bid on it, rather bizarrely. You'd have thought for that money, that he'd have set it up, cleaned and polished it, and changed the strings.
 3. Jazz standards with vocals at an old peoples home near Wolverhampton. Must be fully conversant with the genre, and able to improvise comfortably from lead sheets. The gig is paid. Takes place early afternoon at their summer fair.
 4. Nice. Is it improvised or composed?
 5.
I have walked away from bands that insist on rehearsing at full volume. It's what kids would do.
This! Lets rehearse at gig volume, I'll be OK, I'm wearing my ear plugs. Kind of defeating the object of rehearsing that loud with the plugs attenuating the sound. Drummers should be able to play quiet too.
 6. About 3 months old. In excellent condition. The perfect hybrid between a gig bag and a standard hard case. Price includes shipping.
 7.
Because after playing for 50 years he still hasn't got it right lol. I cant stand bands who have soemone with a music stand on stage. If you cant be bothered to put the time and effort in like the rest of the band, at the expense of looking Ike you haven't, then you arent the right person. I know that sounds harsh, but ive seen so many bands where one or two members spend all night looking at their music stands and i find it looks very unprofessional and makes them look like they arent part of the band. I know some people play with lots of bands, with different arrangements etc, but even so, thats no excuse for not putting in the hours. We got rid of our last guitarist as he was always looking down at his iPad.
Totally disagree. My main band uses 3 different vocalists, each sing in a different key. The repertoire is well over 100 songs. I've also played on cruise ships where the songs are called out as you go along, you're just given two books with all the charts in. It depends I guess on your gig. There's a photo I found last time this kind of thread came up, it showed the James Brown horn section on stage complete with music stands.
 8.
Where are you playing in Bath?
St James wine vaults, 10 St James's Street, BA1 2TW Bath. It's this coming Sunday, starts at 6pm, and free entry. I'm in Bristol on the Saturday evening at an event too.
 9. Google record fairs in your area, and book a table at the next one.
 10. Just stuff some old towels or something into the holes, remove them as and when.
 11. D'Addario nickels last me a long, long time. Have you tried coated strings?
 12.
I like it very much, although for me it is more of an underscore, but that doesn't distract from being well written. One thing, it is very quite, but from previous posts (IIRC if was you, or maybe I am wrong?) you like to keep it on the quite side? But that is for another thread. Good stuff.
Thanks for the comments, it's still a work in progress at the moment.
 13.
I would... ... ... comment, ... .. ... but ...
Ha ha . I've turned it up a little
 14. I do lots of solo gigs. So far this year I've done ten, including a couple in Paris and one with Steve Lawson. I've got two more later this month, one in Bath and one in Bristol. I much prefer them to normal band gigs, much more satisfying.
 15. To my usual solo bass offerings. Just something I'm working on at the moment, I'm not a particularly good pianist. The cello is put through my pedalboard before going in to Logic Pro. 16. I did a solo gig in a church in Birmingham city centre last year, it was a Friday lunchtime, part of a regular series, so there's always a good audience, people on their lunch break etc. I was sat on a stool at the front, people were sat on seats, the closest row about 4 metres from me. For one guy that wasn't close enough, he walked up and stood literally half a metre from me. After I'd finished one piece, he started talking to me about what I was fldoing and my music etc. Really nice and I appreciated him liking what I was doing, but he was just oblivious to the fact I was performing.
 17.
not quite the same thing, but my last band were getting a bit frustrated at the singer insisting that we de-tune the guitars by two steps to make it easier for him to hit the notes, and on a five string bass the strings were just flapping about and the guitars didn't have quite the zing they wanted from being at concert pitch. So one week we all tuned up a semi tone, and didn't tell him. Three hours of the singer looking slightly puzzled - he knew something was wrong but couldn't quite put his finger on what it was. he never worked it out, and we never went back.
I'm just curious. I can maybe understand the guitarists tuning down, so they can keep the same shape of chord. It would really cause me problems though, tuning my bass down. I'd be mentally transposing the line, so would end up making a complete mess of it.
 18. Are you playing real book standards? I don't see why you'd rehearse those tbh. It's improvised, so the idea is that they're not played the same each time anyway. I play a whole lot of that stuff, if there's anything unfamiliar on the set list then I run through it a few times at home. This is what I suggest your guys do too.
 19.
Does your singer understand beats and bars?
This.
 20. The John Patitucci model is really excellent, but I prefer the through-necked TRB6P. I used to own a very early one in red, bought off a guy on here, and now owned by Kevin Glasgow. I just prefer thru-necked instruments.
 21.
Ok, you can play, but can you teach? Big difference.
Erm...yes!
 22. I had one of these. Fantastic pedals!
 23. It's the mids that give clarity to your sound, and will enable it to be heard. The whole band turning down a notch or 2 can help in boomy rooms too.
 24.
That digitech obscura is good, and cheap compared to a lot of options.
Ooh, lo-fi. I like that, interesting, thanks .
 25.
Another Flashback or Flashback Mini? I am sure they would have a reverse delay toneprint,,,or you could make one with the editor. The toneprint function really make those pedal hard to beat IMHO.
There is a reverse setting, it's actually quiet nice, and using the editor you can totally remove the clean sound. I was just really after another pedal with a 'different flavour' I guess.
