  1. Brilliant. Thank you 🙏.
  2. I have to teach a workshop on mixing and mastering at a music college I teach at. I’m on the lookout for stems that I can use in the workshop: bass, drums, guitar etc. Does anyone know where I can get them please?
  3. The Darkglass Element is a fabulous practice tool. it has a built in tuner and can work as an audio interface. The cab sim library is fantastic.
  4. This is another favourite of mine. Steve’s a fabulous fretless player, his intonation is impeccable, and such beautiful phrasing. https://music.apple.com/gb/album/grace-and-gratitude/208160961?i=208160972
  5. Michael Manring, the enormous room. I started transcribing and learning this a while ago. The tuning is really complicated on it, he uses the de-tuners on his Hyperbass throughout. https://music.apple.com/gb/album/the-enormous-room/1595552826?i=1595552846
  6. Something I have noticed on Facebook marketplace, is there’s now an option to ‘buy it now’ and complete the purchase through Facebook. How does that work, protection-wise?
  7. I had them recently. I thought it was someone messing about, a prank. I just deleted the messages and blocked the senders.
  8. Maybe Strings direct price represents an increased price from the distributor, if theirs is newer stock?
  9. A friend of mine was going to see this tonight. I’m glad it was good, didn’t realise Guy Pratt was on bass duties.
  10. I only have one bass, I’ve only had one for years. The last time I owned more than one was as a student, that was only briefly. I think the last time I took two basses to a gig was about twenty years ago. I played onboard a cruise ship for a month about twelve years ago, though I did have two instruments with me, only one ever left the cabin.
  11. Like new, just a month or so old and barely used. I just bought its bigger brother. Complete with original box and everything that came with it. Price includes postage.
  12. I’m on my lonesome vote-wise playing on lonesome.
  13. My mum once unplugged someone’s microphone, they were making a racket and annoying her. The ‘singer’ was slightly drunk and didn’t realise, he blamed the microphone.
  14. I don’t know tbh, I haven’t used that particular feature. I’ll check next time I’m using it.
  15. I’ve only had one for ages. It does have 6 strings though, so does it count as 1.5? 😆
  16. I had a Marleaux bass about ten years ago, lovely instruments. I’ve got a book of the cello suites arranged for bass that I use for reading practice, they’re beautiful pieces.
  17. There’s a guy in Lichfield works at a music shop. He’s very good with audio gear.
  18. I came across this guy on Instagram. It’s not to everyone’s taste I know, personally I love solo bass. The bass is a Marleaux Heiko Jung signature model with Pyramid black nylon strings. The bass has a built in microphone, the recorded sound is a mix of that and the amplified sound. https://www.instagram.com/p/CbdREA3sQHZ/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  19. It would yes. Just treat it as a guitar or bass.
  20. Connect your phone to your interface, then play the YouTube video and record it into your DAW.
  21. In some ways I’m not as good as I was 7 or 8 years ago when I was at uni. Then I was doing 12 to 14 hours a day practice. Now, my technique needs to allow me to express whatever I’m hearing in my head. I’m one of those strange bassists that likes to play solo, I’ve recently started incorporating extended techniques into my playing. It’s about control, control of my technique, control of the harmonic aspects, control of the notes: dynamic, rhythm, timing etc. If there’s anything uncontrolled it’s through choice, not through lack of technique.
  22. Hmm, I quite like that. I’ve never been a particularly big Rush fan, I much prefer their later albums to their early material. I’ve never understood why people think a new project should just be a continuation of a previous one. This is possibly something he’s wanted to do for a while?
  23. It’s not central London, but I have been here a few times. It’s pretty good, if a little expensive - though I guess that’s relative, I’m used to Birmingham prices. https://www.residentstudios.com/about-us/ There was a place in central London that I used a couple of times too. I can’t remember the name now though, and certainly wouldn’t recommend it.
