1. It's an MTD 6 string, I think the actual bass he used was for sale on here a couple of years ago.
2.
Ah, OK; thanks for clarifying. Isn't the English language splendid, enabling us to communicate so well..? I'll drum up the opposite schema, for a low-pass filter, then. Back in a tick...
Thanks
3.
I understand the opposite; he wants a more trebly sound. I could be wrong, but it's still a bit ambiguous. Well, Ian..? More treble, or more bass..?
Less trebly 😊. I find it too trebly with the passive control up, and the active control up. It's kind of too brittle sounding.
4.
A key part of what you want hinges on the phrase "roll off the passive tone completely". This can be construed in one of two ways. Are you describing: a) turning the passive tone control fully anticlockwise (high frequencies removed, you have a bassier (muddier) tone)? or turning the passive tone control fully clockwise (high frequencies pass through, you have treble (clearer) tone)? As Dad3353 has described the solution is straightforward, With the answer a) or some component values can be calculated. SubsonicSimpleton's prototype box suggestion is also good until you have settled on final component values.
A standard passive tone control that you find on most basses. I like the sound of it turned fully off, and I use the treble control on the active circuit to add or decrease treble. My old Modulus had a John East circuit that was brilliant. It had a passive tone control, I had it set fully off all the time. Sadly I can't afford to change the Bartolini circuit, so I want to add the passive control to it. I have absolutely no knowledge of electronics, and burned myself last time I attempted to use a soldering thing. My brother is good with a soldering iron, and will do the necessary soldering once I can show him what to do.
5.
Not the best worded request, but if I understand correctly, you're wanting to cut the bass with a fixed, passive, high-pass circuit. Here's one, very simple, taken from a fuzz-box schema... You may have to play about with the values to get the exact degree of tone adjustment that you require; on the other hand it's about as 'cheap and cheerful' as one could wish. Your brother will know where to solder this in (undo the o/p jack and insert this circuit...). Have fun; hope this helps. Subject to correction, completion and/or contradiction from others.
I basically want to add a passive tone control to the bass, but keep it inside the cavity, keeping it rolled off. Thanks for your reply.
6. My Roscoe 6 string fretless has a Bartolini 3 band active preamp installed in it. I like to roll off the passive tone completely, and just use the high frequency tone control on the preamp. The Bartolini doesn't have a passive tone control though, so I want to add one. I don't want to drill another hole on the bass though, I was thinking of just adding the capacitor thing inside the bass, it doesn't matter that it will be totally off all the time. Where would the capacitor thing be soldered, and what sort of capacitor should I use ? My brother will be doing the soldering for me.
7. As I see it, he's asking for a contribution toward the band's fee. It's his venue, I don't see how he's being underhand, or dishonest. He's given the money, plus some from him to the band.
8. So he's getting a contribution toward your fee ? I could see your point if you were doing the gig for nothing, and he was collecting. It's a bit like charging people to come in, but the charge is voluntary, and pay what you like. If venues in France are like they are over here, then whatever your fee is, it's maybe quite a chunk out of his takings.
9.
That's not a very good composition though, I'm sorry to say. I'm happy you found something you could use for this. I felt that was not a given at all, as you guys were granted terribly little time for the project. So you've handed them in, or was the final date in May?
I hand in on the 25th, I've just got the write up to finish for this, and for my 'normal' one .
10. Just a follow up to a thread that I started a few weeks ago asking about apps to create some graphic scores for my MMus course. I ended up downloading something called Xdraw from the app store. It's not brilliant, but it did the job. For those that are interested, here's something that I've done. It's in 4 parts, and is printed on clear acetate, one part per sheet. This means that the parts can be combined, and they can be orientated to suit.
11. That's really nice, very much my kind of music.
12.
Another top player showing us why bass isn't really a solo instrument.
Bass is a great solo instrument...........in the right hands.
13.
But then I suppose there's no guarantee with cash either, unless you check every note.
That's very true. I bought a bass from a guy on here 2 years ago. I paid cash that I got over the counter from Natwest. Two days after I'd bought it the guy contacted me to say one of the notes was a fake. It had been picked up when he paid it into his bank.
14. A guitarist that I play with occasionally is 84. I don't think age is necessarily a block to playing with people. The rest of that particular band are all in their 70's too. Good luck with it !
15. Tightly 😊. I never use one, but had to at uni a couple of years ago. Mid song it flew out of my fingers and landed at the feet of my tutor who was sat in the front row, he calmly bent down, picked it up and gave it back to me. Needless to say I didn't pass that particular one.
16.
I won't get onto the thing they've failed to deliver twice with no notification of attempts to deliver. Not that it's been sat in a warehouse for a fortnight... And that I now need to return (don't need the item - the job it was for has passed) but can't just have sent back from the depot and have to re arrange delivery to me so I can wait for the same depot to pick up and send back to them for a refund. That's me and them done. Pain in the arse.
Is that Thomann's fault ? I thought they used couriers to deliver stuff, usually DHL in Germany, parcel force over here. If you click on the tracking you can activate the email notification thing to track progress of the shipment.

18. A typical pub classic rock band, though they're about 30 years younger than most that you see around here . Why has the bassist removed his shirt ?
19.
Without being able to see a proper screen grab of the page, it's very difficult to tell what is going on. However I suspect that your browser version is too old to support the latest version of Soundcloud. Since Safari is very much tied to the OS version that might not be possible. What version of Mac OS are you on and what version of Safari? In the short term it might be easier to use a different browser such as Firefox or Chrome (although IIRC Chrome is also tied to the OS as it also uses Webkit for a lot of it's functionality).
He's using snow leopard. What you've said is along the lines of what I said yesterday. Soundcloud didn't work for me when I started using El Capitan. It does now, so I suspect soundcloud have done a fix to support El Capitan, but previous OSs don't work like they should.
20. What I'm baffled by, is the timespan. It's taken this band almost half a century to claim that one of the most recognisable songs from the 20th century has been nicked from them.
21. Isn't the whole thing a little late ? I mean how old are the songs ? Why now, and not years ago ?
22. Not heard of this before, and have I've never heard of the band or song it's alleged to have been copied from. I have to say that judging by this, in my opinion there's enough dissimilarity. 23. Some more piano stuff. https://soundcloud.com/an-ending-ascend/26a This is just one of a few pieces that I've recorded recently.
24.
Didn't someone post recently that they'd been sent an almost identical message through Gumtree?
I get them most times I advertise on there. Just ignore them.
25. I don't know what your level is, but I'd recommend just playing root notes along to stuff to start with. If you're comfortable with other notes from arpeggios etc, then maybe include them. But keep it simple to start with, it's just a jam. Most of all enjoy it !
