  1. Thank you. I haven’t been able to work out how to do that, so that is very useful.
  2. Thanks. It’s using my Darkglass Element. There’s a signal going in, at least according to the meter. It’s just not recording the signal - it’s the same with virtual instruments. It doesn’t seem to be switching from ‘armed’ to ‘record’.
  3. There’s an ‘arm’ button on each track and in the ‘mix’ window. Every video and ‘how to’ I’ve come across just says to ‘arm’ and press the space bar. Logic Pro you’d just press the R button, nice and simple.
  4. There’s a TV programme that airs on a Thursday morning that covers this kind of thing. It might be worth contacting them. There’s also ‘Rip off Britain’ with Gloria Huniford. I really think this needs a wider audience, the police might then actually do something about it.
  5. The college where I’m about to start my teaching practice uses Pro Tools on its music technology courses. I have used it before, that was a while ago though, and then only briefly for one project during my master’s. Anyway, I want to re-acquaint myself with it, so I’ve downloaded Pro Tools ultimate onto my MacBook. I can’t get it to record, either bass through my interface or midi using a keyboard controller. I’m getting sounds going in and through my headphones from both sources, it just won’t record. I arm the record function and the button flashes. I press play and the transport starts to move, but the record arm button still flashes, and nothing is recorded. Has anyone any ideas please?
  6. Tate modern is worth a visit. There’s a few eateries and coffee places around there too.
  7. No problem. Thanks, I need to check them out, I haven’t listened to any of their recent music.
  8. I have mine on a small board too. I’ve just redesigned my pedalboard around the Element.
  9. I’ve added the dimensions and the weight. I prefer them to the Pedaltrain boards. You can use Velcro to attach pedals, or little brackets that attach to the underside of the pedal. Then a screw mount thing fixes the pedal very securely to the board.
  10. I bet your finger didn’t hurt though?
  11. Surgical spirit works well too.
  12. Spirit, purple coloured stuff.
  13. I read ages ago that meths would help to toughen your fingertips.
  14. Phil Gould, their drummer shared this earlier on Twitter. Whist I’m not a fan of their later more pop orientated material, I do like their early stuff. It reminds me a lot of Return to forever, not just the music either, the playing is amazing, especially if you consider how young they were.
  15. I wrote a somewhat lengthy review of the Element a while ago. Something I’ve just discovered with it, when you’re using it as an audio interface, it uses whatever impulse response - amp/cab/microphone sim - you’ve got loaded into it. Which I think is quite brilliant. I knew the IRs were present in the DI’d signal as well as the headphone signal. I didn’t know they were in the audio interface out. It’s an amazing little thing.
  16. I’ve used a variety of the wall-wart type power supplies and daisy chains. Some were better than others, most were rubbish - NB, I’m very fussy about unwanted noise in my sound. I’m currently using a Cioks DC5, which works great for small boards.
  17. Bought recently and just once for a local gig. It’s in perfect condition. I really like the bag. It offers great protection, I like the way the straps stow away too. I have a Mono Vertigo bag that I prefer, it just suits me better. The Reunion Blues Aero bass guitar case utilizes the same shock-absorbing Flexoskeleton technology found in the RB Continental case, in a lightweight, slim, aerodynamic shape. The interior features Reunion Blues signature double-helix quilted velvet lining, with a padded neck brace and locking security strap that will keep your prized instrument snug. The case also sports a comfortable Zero-G handle and padded backpack that make transportation a breeze. For musicians looking for a slim, lightweight, protective case that will outperform wood and plastic, the Reunion Blues Aero fits the bill. Features: Lightweight, slim, low profile shape Shock-absorbing Flexoskeleton Interior neck brace with security strap Zero-G handle Price includes postage, collection also welcome.
  18. These are fabulous pedalboards. They’re incredibly well built, with lots of great design features. This is one of the larger boards, able to accommodate quite a few pedals. I’m going for a more modular setup, with two or three smaller boards that I’ll link together as and when. This was bought new in January and hasn’t left the house. It’s in perfect condition, and will ship in the original box. It doesn’t come with a carry bag, they’re available separately. I’ll include a selection of the attachment brackets that fix to the back of the pedal to secure them to the board. These are pre-used, so you’ll need to put some more double sided sticky tape on them. Specifications from the Temple Audio website: Dimensions: 62.2 x 31.8 x 6.6 cm Weight: 1.54 kg Number Of Effects: 14 Price includes postage.
  19. I know you say not Facebook, there are some very good groups on there though. The SOS forum is good too.
  20. I remember emailing them a while ago about hiring a bass, it took a few days before they replied. Slightly off topic, I looked on their website when I was looking for DB strings, they actually seemed quite expensive. Thomann was much cheaper.
  21. There’s a masterclass available on BBC iPlayer from a couple of years ago. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p07r2w7g
  22. Which is I’m guessing more than a pair of black jeans and a shirt of some description?
  23. Who said rock n roll was dead?
  24. There’s a TV programme on of a morning that investigates this kind of thing. Maybe they’d investigate this if enough people contact whoever makes it. Who knows, if might in turn push the police to do more?
  25. The last four or five years - pre-pandemic - I’ve always travelled by train to gigs. I just had coffee, I’d sometimes take sandwiches. I used to do a lot of dep gigs, they were all over the country. I think the furthest I went south was Plymouth, the furthest north was Whitby. Then I used to take a flask and sandwiches, there was invariably nowhere open that time of night. I am - if you haven’t guess - a cheapskate 😆.
