Etiquette and new owner of a sold instrument.
ambient replied to ialma's topic in General Discussion
I would just ask the seller to contact the buyer, to let him/her know that there's someone who wants to buy it, should they not like it. -
Used them loads very satifactorily and their customer aftercare is excellent too.
That was my opinion of them until this week.

I barely listen to stuff that does have. I listen to loads of classical music, and experimental ambient type stuff.
I try to avoid DV247 at all times, they come across as cusomer-unfriendly. On occasion, they are the cheapest ones around, though...
They certainly are customer unfriendly. I resorted to posting on their Facebook page, then via Facebook messenger, my emails remain unanswered.
Bass was from Germany. But yes i should of taken a holiday over to get it. Ive recieved many basses from Europe and USA with no problem in the last 17 years. This is a first for me.
Didn't realise that, but I just don't trust them I guess.
I don't think he is going to pay £85 for a bridge.
I didn't notice the price, wow !

This is why I always collect. You can get advance train tickets for a really good price if you're prepared to be flexible. I picked by Roscoe up from Warrington, the fare was £12 return.

Well I've had my shipping refunded. You really shouldn't need to go through Facebook though. Their Birmingham shop used to be great, I had loads of gear off them over the years.

Use Facebook, post something on their page. That's what I resorted to with DV247. -
I agree with Dad about the volume, really, really low. I have read before your view on it, and agree mostly, but I think there has to be a compromise somewhere. But saying that....... I like the piece very much, works very well (although more as underscore). The Spitfire strings sound lovely, other Spitfire sounds there as well? Possibly Edna or Enigma? Although a bit pricey, Spitfire Audio really do deliver superb libraries. I have a few myself. Have you been over to their budget page? £2.00 an Instrument (Spitfire Labs Range). The 'Scary Strings' Patch is very nice indeed, works very well on Ambient material, so does 'Henson's Frozen Strings'. http://www.spitfirea.../spitfire-labs/
Hi, Thanks for the feedback. It is indeed a very fine line between being too quiet, and how I want it. I maybe need to play things back on my phone, or just through my Macbook speakers to gauge the volume more accurately. I'm using the Albion strings that you put me onto a few years ago, there's also the Leo Abraham Enigma library. The piano is off Logic and the synth is Logic's Alchemy. I hadn't seen those budget ones, there's a few there that I'm going to get, thanks for the link. I fancy the Olafur Arnalds libraries that they've got too. They're pretty good with student discounts, which is really useful.

Well they stopped replying to my emails about it. So I posted on Facebook about it, attaching a screenshot of the tracking that hasn't updated since Wednesday afternoon. They've now sent me a message on Facebook apologising, and offering to refund the shipping charges. The strings are coming from Germany, despite the website saying that they're in stock at shops over here. It's very annoying, I was hoping they'd be here for a gig I have on Sunday. I paid £54 for them, they're £79 at Strings direct, but I think Strings direct have better customer service.
Did you order them online? If so then they are probably coming from Germany as they are a German owned company
I did yep, I didn't realise they were German. It said they were in stock in branches, which is why I ordered them.
-
I've ordered stuff off them quite a few times. I just ordered a set of Thomastik flats for my Roscoe. They're a great price there, £54 for a 6 string set, most places charge £70 upwards. Anyway, they were ordered Wednesday lunchtime, instead of just popping them in the post 1st class, they've sent them by UPS. I'm told to expect them early next week. So much for having them fitted in time for a gig Sunday evening. The tracking shows they aren't even in UPS possession yet. Very annoying.
Some people never learn, do they..? I even turned the volume up to 100%..! One day, perhaps, I will understand; one day...
Headphones ? I really appreciate you listening though, thanks !

They sometimes also spell the from email address wrong. I had one recently that was from npaypal.co.uk You had to look closely to see the email address spelling. I was alerted by the fact it was address to dear customer or something, they didn't use my name.
-
it can be forwarded to Paypal as they like to monitor all this stuff....I think Paypal have a link somewhere for this.
Send it to I think Paypal may also know how to spell the word 'tried' too.
Ooops, that'll be me then...bastards turned me over for £1300 which I did get back from the bank but I did feel like a plonker and it could, otherwise, have been an expensive life lesson... As they say.."no fool like an old fool"..
Lots of people do. They can be very convincing. I think the main thing to look out for is how the email is addressed, a real email will address you by name. They will also never, ever ask for passwords.

I had a few from tescos bank around Christmas. Just deleted them straight away. I'm amazed that people do fall for these scams though.

I had to learn Frankenstein for an exam last year. That put me off him for life 😄. He is extremely talented, he was playing with Miles at 19 or something !

Selling on eBay, first time in a while - lesson learnt!
though you do occasionally have to deal with some right weirdo's.
What have I bought from you on Gumtree ? -
Hmmm, interesting. The neckplate on my P dates to '72 but the pots are early '71 and neck is Feb '71. Couldn't find a clear dates on the PU's. Surely they wouldn't just have a neck floating around for nearly a year would they? or are neckplate dates fairly inaccurate?
I don't know, maybe ? Have you read the Fender bass book ? It's interesting.
