1.
I love it. Beautiful.
Thanks .
2. They're definitely not like 'normal' flats. There's no thump, they're mellow, that's how I would describe them. For solo playing, you can get an almost classical guitar like sound from them.
3. There should be a site rule about posting basses like this for sale on here.
4. I googled him to find out who he was. Apparently my nan likes him.
5. i thought this was going to be a thread about the Pirates of Penzance or something 😊
6. I'm in Sutton Coldfield, I did the level 6 rock school licentiate thing as part of the final year of my BMus. Feel free to PM me, I can do Skype if you wish. I don't charge for a 20 minute lesson for basschat members. I've done a bit of teaching on here using Skype.
7. How long does each course take, and how many hours ? I finished my BMus degree last year. My first year I had maybe 20 hours a week contact time. We were expected to do at least that again at home. In reality it was a lot more, I probably spent another 30 hours a week at home practicing and other work. It'd be a lot of work doing something the equivalent of a degree, whilst working full time. Unless you can break it down into smaller modules spread over a period of time. I'm currently doing a part time MMus. I have one 2 hour lecture a week, I totally misjudged the amount of work outside of that.
8. Brilliant strings, by far my favourite. Get them from DV247 or Thomann though. Strings direct are charging £80 for a 6 string set, DV247 and Thomman are charging £54.
9.
I own an igig. I just put everything in the whole world in the front pocket. That leaves all the other pockets spare!
I just looked up igig cases. I've never seen one before, great looking gig bags !
10.
Very nice..
Thanks ! .
11. Are you sure you're bouncing the project ? I usually click bounce project or section, it bounces all except the muted tracks.
12. I had one of these, they absolutely brilliant.
13.
Just finished reading it for the first time today. Very different style of structuring the stories in an almost parable fashion to highlight the learning points. Enjoyable read with lots of focus on otherwise generally ignored aspects of playing music. Not entirely convinced of the style of the writing though for my tastes. But certainly don't regret reading it, thought provoking, and I will likely dip back into it.
I know what you mean. I've read it a few times, and found the writing to be a bit, I don't know, not my thing I guess. What he says is good though, it's a question of dipping into it, and taking something away to work on. It's quite a thought provoking book, which is good if you're serious about music. His DVD kind of builds on what he says in the book. I highly recommend that.
14. Just bought my Ditto looper pedal. It was a very smooth and easy transaction. 😊
15.
Some examples of the type of wisdom he uses....The quotes are actually spoken by the fictitious character, Michael. "Now, we have ten different but equal parts of music, notes, articulation, technique, feel, dynamics, rhythm, tone, phrasing, space and listening..." Who would have thought that "playing" spaces was part of music?? He goes on to say: "To play music, Good techniques is a must. You can know all the notes in the world. You can have the best ideas in the world but you need good technique to get them out. Your technique can be unorthodox, but if it is inadequate you will not be able to express yourself freely; you will frustrate yourself instead. Good technique allows you to use all the other elements at will..." Struck a chord (no pun intended) with me...
I've seen people on here argue otherwise regarding good technique.
16. Bearing in mind I go by train, if not all the way then at least part of the way. Two cables coiled and in the one pocket of my gig bag. My music goes in the other pouch. PJB double 4 in its gig bag on my trolley. I've started using an Aguilar tone hammer pre, that fits in the double 4's gig bag where the power supply should go. I keep the power supply in the front pouch of the double 4's bag. Stool folded up and also on the trolley, along with my music stand and my mini Hercules guitar stand. Bass bag goes on my back. That's me set for pretty much any gig.
17.
Nice live stuff from Frankie in 1984 here... Mark O'Toole rocking a nice Cutlass I by the look of it. I thought they couldn't play..? https://www.youtube....h?v=BOWTtYgPmlg
They went through a lot of session players trying to get the single recorded, and sounding right. At one point they even had the Blockheads in the studio. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l1wMw27KDI
18. Where are you studying ? I graduated last year, I opted for recording for my final project. I figured a lot depended on it, and too many things could go wrong . We had to do original stuff though, even if it had been performance.
19. Have you tried looking in the feedback section, see if feedback has be left for the seller in respect of the bass ?
20. I would just ask the seller to contact the buyer, to let him/her know that there's someone who wants to buy it, should they not like it.
21.
Used them loads very satifactorily and their customer aftercare is excellent too.
That was my opinion of them until this week.
22. I barely listen to stuff that does have. I listen to loads of classical music, and experimental ambient type stuff.
23.
I try to avoid DV247 at all times, they come across as cusomer-unfriendly. On occasion, they are the cheapest ones around, though...
They certainly are customer unfriendly. I resorted to posting on their Facebook page, then via Facebook messenger, my emails remain unanswered.
24.
Bass was from Germany. But yes i should of taken a holiday over to get it. Ive recieved many basses from Europe and USA with no problem in the last 17 years. This is a first for me.
Didn't realise that, but I just don't trust them I guess.
