1. Anyone else use this in their practice ? I bought my copy years ago for maybe £3. It's a really great little book. The exercises as the name suggests, are designed for piano, but they're brilliant for warming up. They're mostly based around intervals, 3rd, 4th etc. So it's great practice for string skipping and stuff like that. Use a metronome and start slowly, gradually building up the tempo.
2.
Guys, I'm not old, I'm merely older. I'll never be old. Blue
I like that I play in a few jazz bands. The guys in the one are aged between 74 and 84. The 84 year old is an amazing jazz guitarist, his stamina is something to behold. I'm the youngest by 37 years. Proves you're never too old.
3.
The Jug is basically a tips jar for the band. A bit like the busker's hat.
Ah right, around here we use a bucket. You can get PayPal card readers.
4. I'm puzzled - what's the jug ? When I first saw the title I assumed it was the music venue in Moseley.
5. I've used resident in Willesden a few times, I think their one studio has a stage. Not sure though. http://www.residentstudios.com/rehearsal-studios/

SolD.

In like new condition. Complete with box and instructions. Price includes postage.
7. Neither 😊. Although I respect both for their contribution to popular music.
8. Some photos. These are like new, my price represents a saving of over £300.
9. You can maybe understand why. I mean there's only a certain number of times you can see a thread entitled 'what flats are best ?', or something, without screaming 'use the search function !". You do occasionally get some interesting threads in the section, this is the main one that I look at.
10. I have to say music is an obsession, I'm constantly listening to it and thinking about it..........to me it's part of what being a musician is about.
11. I'm finding new stuff all the time. Mostly contemporary classical and experimental stuff. Oddly I get to know new stuff off amazons recommendations, based on what I've bought before.
12. Talk Talk, Spirit of Eden, courtesy of my older brother and a couple of his mates. I would have been about 11. My parents used to go out on a Saturday night, they'd decided that my brother was old enough to look after me. A couple of his friends came around one Saturday evening and brought this album with them. Previous albums had included Dark Side of the Moon, and a few Marilion albums. I thought this was amazing though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR45WPnM3qU Probably the only album from my childhood that I still listen to.
13. It's because they've posted an advert, but haven't successfully paid for it.
14.
Great stuff. It's really refreshing to see a bass player like Janek (I'm a big fan!). His positivity, outlook on life, his views on where the music industry is going and his view that you don't HAVE to spend months away touring to be a hardworking musician are a really positive example to set to any other aspiring musician. Such a genuinely nice guy, a great player and a massive breath of fresh air!
He has a new solo bass album out. Released just yesterday.
15. Great, I'm a big fan of Janek's playing. He was a visiting tutor at my uni, I was lucky to get to see him play a few times during masterclasses.
16. I've always loved the look of these, never played one though.
17. Have you checked their Facebook page ?
18.
How did your piece go at uni, ambient?
Hi It was handed in last week, I'm not sure when we get our results. Theses an event next week there where they're all being broadcast. Thanks for asking, and listening, and offering advice.
19. These are great little monitors, that are ideal for desktop use. They have the trademark Genelec sound, very clear, precise and articulate, and have a great bass response considering their compact size. They are under a year old, and in excellent condition. I have the original boxes and paperwork that came with them. I'm only selling because I have a pair of Yamaha HS8 monitors too, and I'm trying to raise yet more funds toward my MMus course and other stuff that I need for what I'm currently doing. Collection from Sutton Coldfield preferred. £400 for the pair, that's a saving of £300 on a new pair. There's a great review here, in fact I haven't seen a bad review of these. 20. I know if you use Paypal, you can put in how much the recipient needs to receive.
21. The NI Contact does look good. I used to have a Focusrite Scarlet i2i, which was basic but nice. I now use their Forte, which is even nicer.
22. I'd just keep your bass as it is. It'd save getting confused whilst playing. That's what I've tend to to the few times I've played with guitarists who down tune anyway. Do you play guitar too ? If you do, don't look at them.
23.
Here's the electronic whiteboard. If you want to read more about it, the guy's called Iannis Xenakis, and the machine's called UPIC. Which reminds me of a kinda cool story: I want to become his pupil, and are allowed to visit him in his apartment. We sit down at the piano, and after a lot of talking and playing, he finally says: - "I accept you as my pupil..." My head is bubbling with excitement of course. Exactly at that point the door opens, and a young man enters. Xenakis undisturbedly continues: "...ah, there he is... ...and this will be your teacher!" Not what I was envisioning! (Incidentally, I didn't get a grant, and, out of money, had to return home after less than two months - without having received any serious teaching.)
Great ! I know of Xenakis, what an amazing story, thanks for sharing.
24. Have you heard Mozart has gone too, terrible news !
