Can you not record it in OBS, then transfer the video plus sound into Ableton? I know if you import a video and its soundtrack into Logic Pro, it automatically separates the two parts. I haven’t a lot of experience of using Ableton to record, I’ve only ever used it in a live situation.

The cargo hold bit would be for a few hours. I believe the cargo hold of a modern jet aircraft is pressurised and air conditioned, just like the passenger cabin to minimise internal stress.

One of the benefits of playing a 6 string bass is I can play pretty much any chart from one position. A low E all the way up to an A that would otherwise be at the 14th fret of the G string.

There’s a band I occasionally play for, the youngest is mid-70s and the oldest is mid-80s. They moan a bit about their various ailments, and the sax player has to keep running off for a wee, other than that they’re quite good fun.

This is very true. As I said earlier, if I was having to learn lines quickly for a gig, I’d be starting with the chords and not a tabbed part. At uni we had to learn a Cream song for a weekly live performance workshop. The part was taken from a live recording, I don’t think there was a single riff that was repeated note for note. It always struck me as being a bit daft having to learn it note perfectly, it would have made more sense - and have fitted the style of the song better - to have been allowed to use it as a springboard for our own lines.

Laurence Fox. Politics aside, someone posted a video of him ‘performing’ on a TV show. I felt desperately sorry for the two musicians playing with him. I love watching artists like Michael Stipe or Thom Yorke, two of my favourite performers. As much as I love Steven Wilson’s music, he’s a very quiet lead person, he doesn’t have a great stage presence. -
It’s only recently that I discovered people who are dyslexic can also have problems with reading music. A lot of people are dyslexic to some degree or an other without knowing it. Which might explain why some people struggle with learning to read music.

If I had to learn a bass line for a gig, and I had to do it quickly, the first thing I would do is find out what the chords are. The bass line will pretty much come from that. I’d use them along with a recording of the song, You’d still need to do sit down with a recording with the Tablature, due to the lack of rhythmic information. I can see its use though if players are starting out and want to get playing.

This basically. They're sometimes written by people just starting out. Often it’s a case though that the person that’s written it out plays it wrong - or simply differently. I find TAB confusing. The few times that I’ve used it to write something out for someone, I’ve got into a mess with it, mainly because I’ve been wanting to put more detail in the notation that it’s possible to put, and it still be legible.
