Glad you could get one, all the sensibly priced tickets for Nottm immediately 'sold out', quickly followed by the daft priced ones. Of course they didn't really sell out, ticketmaster just offloaded them to sister company 'get me in' so they could then relist the cheapest original tickets at twice the actual price. Needless to say, I'm not going to support such a corrupt system. There's apparently a pair of very good seats available via get me in for £708 per ticket Shame as Jeff's one of those heroes that I've never got to see perform live. Oh well...
These things are a total rip off. Some friends of mine went to see Steven Wilson at the RAH recently. I think the tickets were £30 or something. That's amazing value for what was a spectacular gig. My uncle wanted to see the who a couple of years ago. The cheapest ticket was over £100. How much were the 'cheap' tickets here anyway ?
2. Photo time.
3. Still for sale bump.
4. I like the one about the cake, something about gateaux.
5. This is a 3rd generation, in excellent condition. A really great, compact 2 octave USB controller keyboard. Includes the original box. Lots of knobs and sliders and things. £40 including postage.
6.
The question i was asking is not based on using your full 500w. What i am saying is with manufacturers offering a 200w and 500w versions of same amps at the same size then why would you go for 200w hoping it will be loud enough rather than 500w and cover all bases
No I'd go for the 200w version. I'm guessing it'd be cheaper, and possibly smaller. I simply don't need any more power, and size is important because I like to travel by train.
7. I started a thread a few weeks ago asking why bands/guys play so loud nowadays. Why would you want something ridiculously powerful when you're only playing in small places ? My only amp is a 75 watt PJB Double 4 combo. It's plenty loud enough for my jazz gigs. Anything more would be totally pointless.
8. Phil Jones Double 4. The tiniest amp, and most pristine sounding combo you'll find. I gig mine too.
9.
Yep, Super Long strings aren't easy to find in stores, i get the D'Addario Super Long for my 35" bass from Thomann. I use to buy in bulk to save on shipping charges.
Normal long scale D'Addario's fit my 35" Modulus.
10. If he's not replying then you'll just get your money back. I had a similar issue with something on eBay. This just backs up my personal decision that I won't buy an instrument if I can't collect it in person, unless it's from somewhere reputable like bass direct.
11. I have a transcription somewhere if you want it.
12.
Hmm interesting - I don't think I've ever come across another bass player who didn't like Bernard Edwards..... I was merely pointing out he probably didn't use that technique on many of their (Rogers/Edwards songs).
LOL, . I'm not really into funk and groove, stuff like that.
13.
On tracks like Happy Man, Everybody Dance and Dance Dance Dance this can be clearly heard. However he didn't always do this. Notice how close to the bridge he plays on the video (sadly his last performance - and using the Stingray - and sounding exactly like himself despite illness)
I erm............don't actually like anything he's done , not my thing at all. I was just repeating something I heard about at uni.
14. He had a very distinctive way of playing, using his thumb and finger like a pick. That no doubt contributed to his sound.
15.
This month I have Teeth of the Sea in Cardiff & Clutch in Bristol. Further away there's Clint Mansell in Birmingham, Stranglers in Bristol & The Wonder Stuff in Cardiff.
Clint Mansell ! I'd love to see that. His work with the Kronos quartet is great.
16.
Here's what I had about the differences: "The PJB H850 has a completely new design transducer to cope with the extreme punishing low frequencies and dynamics of a bass guitar. This transducer is unique to the PJB H850 and not available in any other headphone. To achieve the desired performance, they used a more powerful neodymium magnet, a slightly larger voice coil and to keep the moving mass low, they opted for copper clad aluminum single layer, edge‐wound ribbon conductor. Also, the rear damping chamber is far more effective than the Edifier headphones. Another thing is that the PJB headphones have a much flatter frequency response across the whole audio spectrum and consistent in manufacturing to within =/- 2dB. The Edifier headphones have a very peaky response from 5KHz on up and that is due to the fact that there is far less damping inside them along with a lower cost diaphragm and two layer round wire copper coil. The Edifier brand is a low cost consumer brand and the products designed for them are built to fit specific low price points." Sounds like they are pretty different to me. . .
But they look the same .
17. Check out Anthony Jackson, he gets my ideal electric bass in a jazz setting
18. Steve Lawson. Then before that was an amazing gig featuring one of my ex uni tutors Audrey Riley on cello, a guy called James Woidrow on guitar and pianist Andrew Zolinsky. This was in a church at a music festival in Rutland.
19. Have you tried a set of decent flats ?
20. I'm a little surprised that because something 'looks' the same on the outside, then it's assumed to be the same on the inside.
21. Punctuation ? I'd be inclined to get a .co.uk domain. I pay £8 a year for mine. It looks like you're abroad or something. I quite like the black and white photos, they probably suit the music ? i don't like the bit at the bottom that tells everyone that your website was created free with Wix.
22. He also played on Michael Jackson's Earth song.
23. I don't understand all the faff with going from 4 to 5, to 6, to 4 to 5, to 4. A 6 does everything, (and more) a 5 can do, which does everything (and yet some), that a 4 can do.
24.
I've seen a few Kaos Pad guitar demos along with some Matt Bellamy stuff and it seems a bit of a one trick pony. I can't really imagine how you'd use that trick on a bass unless you're in Royal Blood or some other band which required the bass to make brief bursts of unusual noises.
Check out some of my later Soundcloud stuff. I've used one quite a lot. Steve Lawson uses one quite a bit too. Certainly not a one trick pony. I guess it's down to what you play ?
