2. In excellent condition. Create incredibly smooth volume swells or control your effect pedal parameters with the Dunlop DVP3 Volume X. Small and pedalboard-friendly, the DVP3 is solidly-built and ready for the road. It’s housed in an aluminum chassis with aggressive non-slip tread and comes equipped with our patent-pending Low Friction Band-Drive for a smooth range of motion without the fear of breakage or change in feel or range. For maximum comfort and precision, the DVP3’s rocker tension is fully adjustable. When using the DVP3 as an expression pedal, you can use the internal pot to set the minimum level of the parameter you’re controlling with the rocker. If you want to reverse the function of the heel-down and toe-down positions, the DVP3 has an internal switch that allows you to do so. Along with Volume, FX and Output jacks, the DVP3 also features a convenient Tuner output for silent tuning onstage. The price includes shipping.
3.
Hi Ambient, <tech support hat on> Are you using the original USB cable supplied with the Forte? If the Forte is not showing up in preferences, then the computer is not seeing the unit at all. Have you tested all of the USB ports on your Mac with the Forte? What version of Forte Control do you have installed? Si // Focusrite Technical Support

Which driver are you running? It seems there is a problem with an earlier USB driver (Novation 2.3), and later releases (2.5 and 2.7) addressed this. http://d19ulaff0trnck.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/novation/downlo...
Thanks ! I finally got it working. I'd tried unplugging the Forte from the Macbook, that didn't do anything, but when I unplugged the cable from the Forte it prompted it to upload the software that I'd downloaded from the Focusrite website. The only other problem I need to solve, is that there's a registration card with the Forte, with a bundle code on. It's meant to have 18 digits, but mine's only got 17, so I can't register my Forte, or download the bundled software. It's a great sounding interface though.
4. I just bought a new Forte interface, and I can't get it to work, which is extremely annoying. I've downloaded the drivers/software off the site. I plug the unit into my laptop, switch it on, the display on the unit says 'Forte software required'. It doesn't show up on my laptop when I go into system preferences. When I open 'Forte control', it says no hardware is connected, even when it is. Very annoying, because I planned to do some recording, also my laptop is the only means that I have to listen to music, and I can't. Has anyone else bought one of these, and had a similar problem, and how did they get around it ?
5.
I do this this for a living. I can't pay my mortgage with beer or food. Blue
This !
6. Thanks for all your input guys. Unfortunately my budget is only maybe £200 . I only recently graduated from music college. I have quite a few gigs, but I'm obviously looking for more, and from past experience, I know that having a double bass with make me more employable.

8.
I hear Mr Zon, plus a few very nice basses might be joining him
I was at the event organised by Bass gear in Harrogate a few years ago, it was extremely brilliant.
9. Thanks for your replies. I've had a 3/4 size one before, and successfully dragged it around the country on trains and the tube. My main reason, other than size, is price. There's one I was looking at that was a silly price, just over £100 😁.
10. His signature Modulus Quantum is beautiful.
11.
Yes! And please please PLEASE can some of them be outside London.
Well Steve lives in Birmingham, so I'm hoping the 2 play there.
12. Any good ? I want a double bass, I know it'll get me more work. Whenever possible I like to travel by train. So I'm maybe thinking a half size one. How do they sound ?
13. Definitely ! I'm hoping he does some gigs too. Last time he was over he played a gig with Steve Lawson.
14. I subscribe to Michael's newsletter. Apparently he's playing at next years London bass guitar show. He's one of my 3 favourite players. 😁
15. Any more coffee ? 😊
16. Bump.
17. You get that loads with bumtree. I had a few things advertised on there, and had a very similar email. Only they didn't even mention what the item was, they just said musical instrument.
18. There are a few useful Facebook pages for dep musicians wanted, maybe try posting on them ?
19.
I probably depends on genre as much as anything. I love the tone and clarity of my PJB gear, it's just that to get anything close to what I would describe as 'bass' I need to go to at least 250w in PJB terms. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking PJB gear at all, I've got loads of it, but the Briefcase and the Flightcase at 100w and 150w respectively do not cut it in anything other than a very quiet room. And it's not just about the band, it's about the ambient noise also, I've sound-checked with a Flightcase and found it fine only to find that when the room fills up it isn't, neither for me or the audience. I do think there are things that can be done with positioning/height and EQ, so that if the Briefcase were my only option I could make it work better than it does, but none of these are ideal if there are options. Are people amazed by Phil Jones gear? Generally yes, I find that also, the quality of the sound for the size is always going to impress. It's just the quantity of the sound that can be lacking in comparison with other gear rated at similar power output (yes I know there is no reliable measure of this but you know what I mean........) Bottom line, if it works for you, that's the only measure and opinion that matters
You're absolutely right, it works fine with what I do. There's also the size thing. Saturday I had my bass in it's gig bag on my back. The double four in its bag on my trolley with my stool and music stand, meaning I could go to my gig by train, then walk from the station. I would love to try thieir bigger amps though.
20. I've been using a PJB Double Four for the last couple of months, it's my only amp. It's silent, no hiss, or whistling. It copes perfectly with a low B string, it actually sounds like a bass amp, if you know what I mean. There's no lack of bassiness. I use an ebow and a lot of effects for my stuff, and it copes perfectly with that. I only play my own stuff, or jazz. The jazz gigs range from a 3 piece, to a 5 piece with vocals. I did an outside gig at a garden party on Saturday afternoon. The rest of the band - keys and vocals were through a PA, I could have used the PA too, it has a line-out, but we decided that wasn't necessary. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is amazed by it.
21. There was someone talking about the Gigblade in the general discussion section the other week. Might be worth do a search there ?
22. Ableton, you can get it for a free trial.
23. Mac or PC? If you have a Mac, then you should already have Garageband, which is great, and fairly easy to use.
24. So many time wasters with everything nowadays.
