Well it looks like a decent Audio interface. My comment about it being good was aimed at the latency figures you get from it. It you've got too much latency then you'll struggle to use it accurately live (aside from running tracks etc.) If you're getting low latency from it, then can't you use some of the outputs to run your macbook into the chaos pad and looper etc. You're looking for flexibility of running your Macbook and bass into different pedals etc. I'd look at using the Audio Interface 1st before spending any money. If that doesn't do what you want, then looking at something like a mixing desk or a custom router / loop / switching system might be your next options. Don't underestimate your Audio interface.
Hi, Thanks, but I think what I need is some means of switching between them, note I say I think Latency isn't an issue to be honest, I have recorded quite a few tracks straight into Logic via the MOTU, it's only recently that I've been using analog for the recording. I previously used a Focusrite Scarlett, that did sometimes have latency issues. This is for live work. I somewhat bizarrely have some gigs doing what I do. This is a very recent example, demonstrating the ambient backing tracks https://soundcloud.com/an-ending-ascend/26072015b
70 watt, though it's only driving two 4" speakers.
Sounds like you have the same as me, I use it for gigs too. Size isn't everything, as they say .
i think he is using the laptop just for playing samples, so just needs to worry about output latency. And if these are noise/non-rhythmical ambient noises that might not necessarily need to bother with latency at all.
Yep, that's right. They're field recordings made on my phone. I transfer them onto a loop on a Revox reel to reel and mess about with them, slow them down, reverse them etc.
I think you have 2 options. First is to use a mixing desc (something like this) that has 4 inputs and 2 aux sends. you want your bass (via fx) into channel 1, mac in 2, kaoss into 3 and looper into 4. Then aux 1 into the kaoss and aux 2 into looper. Use aux knob to send more/less to kaoss or looper. Second is to contact someone like bright onion pedals to make you up a custom looper (a bypass looper, not a phrase looper like you have). They should be able to build you a box that will let you send the signal where you want it controlled by foot switches. You could try using a bunch of ls2s(or alternatives), but i think itll probably be both cheaper and easier to get BOP to make you something.
That's great thanks for your help, much appreciated
out of interest are you using a decent audio interface with low latency and multiple ins/outs. I've seen some of your posts in the past and thought.... this guy needs a decent audio interface. I had just the same thought now. If you did you would have a lot of control over where and how you routed everything especially if a Macbook is already part of your set up.
I use a MOTU Ultralite MK3 Hybrid, is that good ? If you mean the lo-fi'ness, that's deliberate, I record onto tape first, then transfer that to Logic so I can upload that onto the internet.

My brain isn't designed for thinking about this sort of thing I have the following and want to connect them in a certain way - Bass MacBook Pro which has copies of field recordings and noise on. Eventide Space Distortion Compressor Korg Kaoss Pad Pigtronix Looper Amp I want to be able to have just my bass going through the pedals, onto the looper, and into my amp. That bit I'm ok with 😊. I want the MacBook to go through just the Kaoss Pad, using the pad's effects and messing about with ability. I sometimes want the bass to go through the Kaoss Pad, but not always. I want both to go through the looper, but not always. I will sometimes want just the bass, with the output of the Kaoss pad having the Macbook going straight to the amp. Confusing ? Yes So how can I achieve this ?

MIDI Studio Help Needed Before I Go MAD !!!!!
ambient replied to Westie9's topic in Other Instruments
For sanity sake is there anybody willing to come to mine and help me set-up my MIDI Studio? I'm not the most technically advanced of people but just want the damn thing to work!!! Basically, I have a Korg Kronos 2 (using USB), a Korg 01/pro (MIDI in and Out) and a Korg X5DR (MIDI In and Out) all connected into a Iconnectivity Midi 4+ box. The DAW I'm using is Logic Pro X on a MacBook Pro. I'm tearing my hair out here and need some help... If there's anyone prepared to come over (Eaton Bray, approx 8 miles from junction 12 of the M1) and help me out I'd be very grateful. I'm quite happy to pay to keep sane. PM me your contact details and we'll go from there..... Thanks in advance....
I'm nowhere near you, but I have Skype and plenty of spare time -
Bill just bought my MarkBass Mini distortion pedal from me. T'was a nice and easy transaction. I also bought a fretless 6 string from him last year, I don't know if I left feedback for that at the time, but anyway, it was a really fantastic bass, and again a really brilliant and easy transaction.

One of the Steinberger basses should be ok.
For anyone interested, I've lived with this case for a week, two gigs and two rehearsals... I'm sending it back. It is an utterly brilliant case, lots of storage and very nicely made. It fits the bass well and offers lots of protection. But, it is too bulky for me. My bass isn't the lightest and once in the case the whole thing is a bit cumbersome. For those thinking of buying one, I would buy another. I really like the case. But, a gigbag it ain't. I'm going to be swapping it for a MONO Vertigo.
What are you carrying in the pouches ? There's a temptation to put loads in them, thus making them really heavy. I use mine and travel miles on the train, but I learned early on not to carry too much in the pouches, I use a separate bag for pads etc, I just carry my cable and clip on tuner in the Protec.
Just an off-topic question here, do you know the cheapest places to get one of these? I'll need another for an incoming bass
Thomann, mine came from there last week.

I've just started using the Seymour Duncan Studio bass comp. So far I'm very happy with it.

Very interesting read regarding streaming services.
I've maybe not made myself clear enough. The crux of the matter, to me, is that: anyone producing goods and/or services should be paid for their work. That's simple enough, I'd have thought. Once the work is finished, however, and has been paid for, then that's the end if it for that person. If someone else is providing a service, then of course it should be paid for. So, to answer your question, It doesn't bother me that Spotify, or whoever, are providing a service, they should be paid for it. The musicians that have finished their work, and are now either resting by the pool or, even better, creating even more music (and getting paid for it...) don't deserve paying for what they've done in the past. I see no difference between a sportsman/woman getting paid for their efforts whilst they're practicing their sport, or an architect designing an edifice, a bus driver and a musician. All should be paid for their work. I'd include training in there. I wouldn't include monies for doing nothing, once the work is finished, that's all. I don't believe that any one person on this planet can possibly be worth a million. Nobody, whatever their role or responsibility. Bill Gates, the Pope, the King of Morocco, 50 Cents... None of them. No, it's not jealousy, it's my sense of values and justice which differ from others, that's all. I value the time of a refuse collector as having the same worth, and so value, as a top surgeon, bank clerk or composer.
It's not work though is it ? A piece of music that you've composed, arranged, recorded and produced, possibly over many, many hours and days, or even weeks or months, is a product. I hate to use that term, but once it's finished, that's what it becomes. It's like if you design something and build it, then someone else comes along and copies your design, and sells the same thing under their own name, and makes loads of money. -
No, you have to order direct. Though there is a really great and very active Facebook group, and there's a forum site called Stickist, there's usually a good supply of used sticks advertised on there.
So as a postscript to this I tried to pay my £20 annual subscription and the only way you can do this is via PayPal. So, I go through the screen filling in all the fields and at the end it tells me I'm trying to use an existing card number with a different password. It then occurs to me that I did indeed set up a Paypal account some 8 or so years ago and I'm pretty sure I did it in order to buy the bass, (from Ebay), that I am now trying to sell. Can I remember the password? Can I buggery! I find this sort of thing so utterly deflating and depressing.
Is there no option to pay as a guest using Paypal (without signing up for it) ?
No! Do you have to pay then?
If it's over £50 yep.
