I'm not a fan, it's not my sort of music at all, but I've seen film of him playing recently and thought he sounded amazing. Where does this nonsense come from that his voice is shot ? How many guys on here can claim even 0.00010% of what he's achieved musically ?
It's certainly ugly enough to pass for a Fodera :-) At that price I wonder if they'll actually use a burled wood top or if it's just a pattern printed on? I'm interested to see what it's like when you actually get it.
I quite like the Fodera shape, it's the price that puts me off.

These a some friends of mine from uni. They're in a competition to get to play at a festival in Hungary later this summer. Anyone fancy giving them a vote ? http://campfire.szigetfestival.com/votes/band/61

My friend married a Chinese girl a few years ago. There were lots of jokes about the choice of music, Wok this way by Aerosmith for example
Thanks for that, bit cheaper too BONUS!! I just need for car & short walk to open-mic session so if weight = protection then thats fine. Brendan
It's a semi-rigid design, the protection is a lot better than the Mono. It weighs more, which if you're in a car isn't really important I guess, but I was on a train, with a load of books and a laptop, and sandwiches . Mine came from Thomann, and was quite a bit cheaper than Bass direct, mind you that was ages ago though.

I teach people the note positions using the chromatic scale. Usually starting on the 3rd fret of each string and moving up and down. Seems to work well enough, C# follows C, then D etc.

Tell you a great bag for 6's or even basses with more strings, the Protec Contego. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Protec_Gig_Bags_2.html I had one and they're amazing, better than the Mono in fact. Also the grab thing is adjustable, you can move it about in the bag, it attaches using velcro, and it's a strap that wraps around the neck, rather than the pad thing in the Monos. I only sold mine because of the weight of them, I was travelling to London 3 days a week by train. I also had a Mono M80, but they were too deep with the front pockets. They wouldn't fit into the overhead luggage racks on Virgin trains.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I think the main difference between your bass and mine, is that your bass has a deeper neck profile, so it would protrude more. My basses have always had very flat profiles, so I guess it all come down to the particular bass that you own, whether the Mono would be ok or not. Here's mine in the bag, while it doesn't fit inside the holder thing, it certainly doesn't protrude too far forwards. The bag with bass inside, there's no obvious bump or anything.
Yes a 4 string fits into the groove & is cosseted by the bigger aperture the other side, a 6 sits atop the headlock groove & is pushed down on it from the other side. Look at the lump on your case where the headlock is & look how the headlock is being squashed! Not a correct fit! Bren
I suspect they've changed them ? There's definitely no pressure on the neck. Last night before the reply above, I put my bass into the bag and checked. My headstock is angled backwards though, maybe that's the difference ?

Some improvisations using a TC Ditto loop pedal.
I like em ... very atmospheric & even a bit eerie. I'm still contemplating reverb and/or delay as I've a little space left on my board. Keep em coming & I'll definitely have a listen ...
Thanks for listening , they are a bit 'dark' I guess Everything on there is just bass, but the others are more arranged and feature a lot of post-recording treatment. -
Not trying to be rude, I've just been puzzling how it wouldn't fit when all of mine have. The bass is meant to face forwards, so the back of the neck goes against the narrow bit of the headlock thing.

I've had a Vertigo for maybe 2 1/2 years. In that time I've carried a Yamaha TRB6P, a Zon Sonus 6, a Mayones 6 and my trusty Modulus Quantum 6 string in it. The Modulus has travelled thousands of miles with me in it. Must just be your bass.

These are a couple of improvised pieces, and were done using a single TC Electronic Ditto X2 loop pedal, and a TC Hall of Fame reverb, a TC Flashback delay pedal and an MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe. They were recorded live with no post recording editing or mixing. They were recorded by taking a DI feed straight from my amp into a MOTU interface, and into Logic Pro.
A nice wide suede backed strap normally helps a lot.
Yep, or a Comfort Strapp with a foamy type back.

What strap do you use ?

Only in America ... BB King didn't die of old age
I saw Mr.King do an interview with Tavis Smiley last year and he said he was still working because he had to, not because he wanted to. Blue
That's what I read too. -

Did he have any wealth ? I'm sure I heard that was why he was still touring long into his old age. -
Nice! can you tell us what "a few effects pedals" are, and how you constructed the track with the looper? I've not much further than "play the chords for a 12-bar" and solo over the top.
Thanks, glad you like it ! I've trimmed down the effects that I'm using, I realised I wasn't using most of them. The only effects on this would be my TC hall of fame reverb using the Steve Lawson tone print. There's chorus too, which is an mxr. I have a TC flashback delay too, but I'm not sure if I used that on this. It was an improvisation. I'm going to write it out later, I'm happy to put a copy up if you want ? It's all played using an ebow, except for the melody bit. The ebow has a switch, the high bits that sound like cries are with the switch in the down, away from you position. Play the melody first, I usually have at least a 4 bar loop, that gives plenty of scope for improv and avoids it sounding too repetitive. I have some videos that I recorded last week, they kind of show the process. A lot of it is down to how you hear what you're doing. I tend not to think bass. -

The Ditto also lets you save and download loops onto a PC or Mac. I like the Ditto's simple operation, some of the others are rather complicated to use, (I've found anyway, but I'm not really into techie stuff, so that may just be me) . -
... And most importantly of all, the x2 has two footswitches, which means you have dedicated 'on' and 'off' controls, which IME makes it way easier to get the timing of your loops spot on.
Yep, that's how mine is set. You use the one little switch to select the function of the one footswitch, it either operates the effects, or as an off button. Mine is set as an off, I don't really use the effects. -
Does the wee Ditto offer 5 minutes of loopage as well?
Yep, the only difference is that the x2 has reverse and half speed effects. Oh and it can be battery powered too. -
