1. I bought an MXR Chorus pedal off a guy on eBay, and paid via paypal over a week ago. Still no pedal, and he's not replying to messages, emails or text messages (I got his phone number off eBay). I can't open a dispute though until the 5th May, because that's what they say is the end of the delivery between period. I mean it's only coming from London, though his address seems to be in Bristol ? Not happy anyway.
2. Try Philipe Lissart, he's the guy that promotes Michael Manring, he's French.
3. It looks like it's been floating around in an ocean for a few decades.
4. The dial is to attenuate the tweeter.
5. Jaco, if your tutors are anything like mine at my uni, then they'll be more into the Jaco thing.

7.
Every time I see someone doing a bass solo or demonstration Do they feel the need to let everyone know what they can do technically , It's normally slap style & high up the neck . How about something low low down & interesting .It's a bass after all . & if it's an amp demonstration it would be letting me know what the amp can handle . I'm sick of it I tell yu
I agree if it's technique for technique sake. I also don't like tapping or slap. I do love the timbre of solo bass though, and it does have the high notes. People don't complain if it's solo clarinet or bassoon, so why bass ? If it's played lyrically and legato it's a very beautiful instrument. It's also a musical instrument so let's play some music on it.
8. Maybe try that non-slip stuff for rugs, or if you have a handle on top of the cab, then you can get long velcro things that you could put around the amp and under the handle.
9.
Wow! Amazing news! Just a thought; I was suspicious of this sale being without pics. Saying "I'll email pics" is all well and good, but it removes the chance that another BCer can flag up a rogue if the pics are simply lifted from another old thread. I know this isn't fool proof. Just an idea if we were to ban sales without pics?
I think that's maybe a good idea. I had someone contact me offering me a pedal I had a wanted advert for. He was a new member, I made him a stupid offer that he accepted, but wanted to be paid by Paypal gift, I asked for photos and never heard another word from him. Anyway, so, so, so glad that you've eventually got the bass. Please post some photos so we can see it.
10. It might be nice to maybe have sections for the numbers of strings. It's not always easy to see from the model number, and sellers don't always say in the advert title.
11. Bought from on here a couple of weeks ago, and used for maybe a hour since then. I've been experimenting with distortion and overdrive, and to be honest I've realised that I prefer to just turn up the drive control on my Markbass mini distortion that I use as a preamp if I want a 'dirtier' sound. I'm also getting a new looper, so could do with the cash. It's exactly as per the last sale advert, just has velcro on the base that can be removed. I'd like £140 same as I paid, that includes postage. Here's a link to the last sales advert - http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2740196
12. Have you got Logic Pro ? The drummer things is pretty good, plenty good enough for a demo.
13. I use bandcamp for downloads and distrokid for sales via iTunes and spotify etc. distrokid you pay a one off annual $20 for ulimited tracks.
14. I'm using a Diago power supply, it didn't cost a lot and powers everything you see in my sig with ease. You can buy extra daisy chain whats-its too for about £8.
15. Decide what you need to work on, list those things in order of priority and what needs most work. Work out how much time you have to spare, then proportion an amount if time to each task. Keep a diary too.
16. http://www.theguardian.com/music/2015/apr/17/record-store-day-2015-share-your-photos-and-experiences I think maybe sales should be limited to stop bulk buying.
17.
Tell me a little more as I have never heard of record store day.
I guess it's been around for a few years now, a way of promoting record stores instead of people using Amazon or whatever.
18. Try Dunlop superbrights, as the name suggests, they're erm.....super bight
19. Yep, there's no problem at all. You may even be surprised at the number of people who will help you carry it up and down stairs at tube stations.
20. I would play the red circled notes as F#s because there's an F# tied over from the previous bar. You then get an F# tied over to the next bar, that's why you have the natural sign for the next F. Basically play it as it is, I can see what they mean. However - I just did an experiment typing the same notes into Sibelius, and it recognised the first tied note as being an F#, but it wanted another # sign by the next F, it didn't automatically make it a sharp, and wouldn't let me just delete the natural sign.
21.
I think there's more than one model of Crate Taxi, but I remember plugging my bass into one belonging to a friend, and it didn't cut it for bass - no low end at all. I think a couple of people on here have had good results with the QTX battery powered mini-PA units - they look like you get a bit more for the money than with most of the battery powered instrument amps.
Thanks, that's really what I wanted to know. I'm planning to use it to do my ambient music, so a good low bass reproduction is vital. 😊
22.
The Roland 15x (guitar amp) is mains only. If your talking about the Roland micro cube rx (for bass) you can put rechargeable batteries in it i suppose they won't recommend it however.
Thanks, I've changed the title now. A friend has recommended something to me.
23. I'm looking for a busking amp. Does anyone use one of these ?
24.
Timmo - Have you tried Transcribe! software (seventhstring.com)? It lets you slow music down by up to 75% (without changing pitch) so you can isolate notes and figure things out. It's not overly expensive and massively useful for study.
Yeah, transcribe is great, you can change eq settings too to highlight the bass if you need to.
