2.
It's more of a short fingers issue.
Where do you position your thumb when you're playing ? There are a couple of older guys that I'm teaching at the moment. Both were holding the bass like it was a baseball bat, almost like they were afraid to let it go. The one guy was playing with just one finger too, sliding up and down the neck. I apologise if you're already using good playing technique, but an awful lot of people assume that because they've been playing a particular way for ages, then it's fine. Your thumb should be around the middle of then neck, maybe running along the stripe that you get on Fender type basses. You should just pivot off that. 3. Surely it's not the bass, or the amp but the music ? I'm not inspired to play or create music by a bass or an amp, just by the need to create music. If you're not already in one, then join a band, go to jam nights, take lessons.
4. Is it maybe a technique issue ? Lighter gauge strings ? Lower action ?
5. I just thought it bizarre that on pages 1, 2 and 3 they extolling the virtue and importance of music education, then page 4 they basically state what they think by mentioning the decreasing budgets.
6. I have a job interview in a month or so time for sessional music teaching for my local council's music hub. As suggested in the letter from the music hub, I'm reading through 'The Importance of Music : a National Plan for Music Education'. A document produced by the Department for Culture Media and Sport. They quote Aristotle and Plato on the opening page, quotes about the benefit of music. They then have a lengthy foreword about England's fantastic musical heritage, and how the country's musicians create some of the best music the world has ever heard. Then page 4 they get down to the financing of the country's musical education. Here's what they say - The Department for Education (DfE) will continue to fund music education at significant levels during difficult economic times: £77m/£65m/£60m will be available in the three years from April 2012. The vast majority of this will be invested in hubs that will also supplement and draw-in local and national funding for music - from local authorities, cultural organisations, businesses, trusts, foundations and philanthropists. If it's as important to them as they say, then why are they cutting the budget for music education between 2012 and 2015 by £17 million ?
7. Play in front of a mirror and study your technique, look to see if you're bending your wrists anywhere or or too tense, and cutting off the blood supply. Maybe get a lesson locally to improve your playing technique/style ?
8. Nice. I just watched some of the Youtube video, it looks like it was a great night for some real artistry.
9. I have music accepted by Soundcheque here in the UK and Musicrevolution in the US. Soundcheque were recommended by a tutor at uni.

12. For those who're interested. Fans of groove, riffing, slap or rhythm sections will be disappointed, so best not click the link if you're into any of that. https://soundcloud.c...n-ending-ascend

Trade for a TC Electronic Flashback.
14. You want about 3, just so the string doesn't slip. Don't wind the string over the string, keep it over the peg only.
15. I'm in my final year at music college. I've suffered from terrible performance anxiety problems all the way through. I've never had a problem with gigs, or anything else performance wise. Consequently my final mark is going to be nowhere near what it should be, thankfully I don't have a problem at all with the academic or compositional/arranging side of things. I was so messed up because of them in my first year, that I went to see my GP. He prescribed Propranolol, a mld beta blocker that helps with the physical symptoms.
16.
I can't make it but can anyone tell me if the folks that make the ear moulds are there and the name of the company at all please? I spoke with them last year about getting a pair made but completely forgot the name of the company.... Anyone able to help?
ACS ?
17.
The 'one guy'?
Bill Lawrence.
18. The one guy's one of my tutors, very cool and nice guy. I've got the live DVD that's quite good, it was filmed partly in Matt Garrison's place. It's something I find I can only watch in small doses though.
19. Does Janek Gwizdala still do one ?
20. If you drive everywhere, then I guess you don't really need one. I have them, simply cos when I do take an amp/cab out, then I travel by train and maybe tube, and you get this thing called rain .
21.
you can never tell until you try, but I would go Tuner phaser OD comp delay
That'd be my choice too.
22. I've heard Steve Lawson's rig a couple of times, sounds amazing ! He uses TH500's and SL112's.
