Hi, what are the dimensions? If it's shallower than my current PSU, I may just take it... Ta, Bod.
It's 33mm high x 95mm long x 55mm across. Here's a photo It comes with the plug in mains lead and 2 daisy chains.
 2. I'm most definitely not a Stingray expert, but the first thing that hit me was the logo doesn't look right. I googled Stingray and it's nothing like the ones in google images. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=musicman+stingray+4&client=safari&rls=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=ReINVPGiHKWJ7AaDr4HADw&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=1260&bih=706
 3. In excellent condition. Selling because I'm having a move around and I'm buying a new desk. Collection from Birmingham only really I guess, they're quite heavy, but I don't mind packing them up if you want them shipped. Includes spikes on the bottom, there's also quite handy cable management built it. £30 but make an offer cos they're in the way, or rather my Dad's way, they're in his garage
 4.
If it's just for home practice , why not get some studio monitors and plug your bass into your PC/ Mac. ?
That's my suggestion too. Monitors are more focused somehow, you get a good sound at a reasonably low level, and don't disturb people.
 5.
oh cool, I've never used a loop pedal. I've seem them used, but never discovered them for myself. whats an eBow Ambient.?
An eBow is an amazing thing, it takes a bit of experimentation but once you get the hang then there's loads of things you can do with them. Here's Michael Manring using one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONf9Otiq4Kc I use one on a lot of my stuff, there's one here, I get a lot of different effects with it, depending on whereabouts on the bass I use it - https://ambient-bass...track/after-all As for the looper, try one. The TC Ditto is a good starter. You can really experiment with harmony on it. P.S - I should maybe point out that there's not an awful lot of 'real' bass playing on my stuff LOL , though everything is 'bass', no keyboards or samples.
 6.
sorry i should have said multiple colours/chords ,of course you can play clolours/chords on the bass, but you can't mix two octaves of chords together with the two hands like you can on the piano. and yes colours is a snotty word for chords.
You can in looping, that's what I find so cool about it. It's really great with an eBow, you can use some really widely voiced chords even across 3 octaves, and using effects on them you get some really nice colours of sound.

 8.
We only get £300 for a pub gig but there's a band who have started undercutting everyone else and playing for £150 which is annoying every other band who have always had an unwritten rule to charge similarly. I suppose it's up to them but we feel that it's kind if cheating to get more gigs
I'm puzzled as to why a band would do that ? They're basically saying, well that's all we're worth. They're cheapening what they and everyone else does. It's not just the time you're giving up for that gig, it's the time spent learning to play, learning the set, earning the money to buy the gear, fuel to get to rehearsals and to the gig. Stupid !
 9. For practicing and everything else I tend to plug into my Focusrite interface into Logic Pro and either monitor through headphones if it's really late, or through my monitors in the daytime. I have a project in Logic entitled 'practicing', it's just a DI simulator. You can import audio onto a track or tracks, so if I'm working on a set for someone, I'll just import all their songs and I can play along to them, repeating sections if I need to. I also have Transcribe software on my laptop, so this set up is great, if I'm transcribing something.
 10. It's been ages since I played in a pub. Personally I wouldn't expect to play for more than 45 minutes first set and maybe an hour in total second set. Most pub gigs don't exactly pay well do they ? 😊
 11. Maybe disappear your neighbours, shallow grave, new patio ?
 12.
I regret starting this thread now
They always turn out the same The last similar thread was about a month ago.
 13. Nickels are quite a bit warmer than stainless steels. I use D'Addario EXL's.
 14. Organised by these guys here http://www.bfwrecordings.com/releases/AlbumInADay/Vol9/ A pretty cool idea, mostly ambient and shoe gaze type stuff, but good exposure and fun to take part in. Here's a rough mix of mine. I started it about 3 o'clock this morning and recorded until about 5 then went to bed. http://www.bfwrecordings.com/releases/AlbumInADay/Vol9/ I'm taking a rest from it now, I have some stuff to practice for some things next week. I'll finish mixing it later, and then submit it. Feedback from my fellow basschat members is most welcome Not real bass playing I know It's all just my Modulus Q6, an eBow and my Boss GT10 into Logic, no keyboards or anything, and samples aren't allowed. It's not too late either, if anyone else fancies a go.
 15.
I can manage the rhythm no problem at all, it's the notes I struggle with. I think what I need to do it pull my finger out and push through it. Keep reading new music until it comes quicker and easier.
Most people would agree that the notated rhythm is the difficult part, mainly because there are so many variations. So you can do the hard part already 😊
 16. Circle K do all gauges, and there's a chart on the website that tells you the string tension.
 17. I've played both and the Japanese one was better constructed than the USA one 😊.
 18.
I will always be a bassist, but for now I'm finding the Piano more interesting. i know why, and its because i can discover more music than i can on the bass. I'm aware it depends on how you look at it, and how you approach the instrument. but i can create colours on the piano, i can't do that on the bass.
I used to find that too, I even bought a piano I'm now deeply into looping and effects, I love what I'm doing, even though it about as far away from 'bass playing' as you can get.
 19.
I bought a set of used Animas for £70 and had them on my bass for nearly 3 years! Considering they are near £300 new, it was a pretty good outcome.
Yeah, I paid £70 for my Spirocores, they should be £170 new
 20.
Sorry jumped in a bit quick there, didn't realise we were in the Double basses forum
No problem, thanks anyway
Plenty on here have bought and sold DB strings.. so long as the price feels ok reflecting the age and condition it allows you to try different sets without quite such a major financial commitment, or at least have a keep-you-going spare set for gigging. I certainly benefitted from this in the past. If it's of interest, I have a couple of sets of unused Innovation Braided, one still in the box, as I'm switching to the new Innovation set as it comes on line.
Yeah, I bought a set of 'slightly used' flex cores from eBay for £70, they seem fine, certainly much better than the strings that my db came with. I now need a set for my Yamaha Silent bass, the strings on it are a mix of blue and red silk windings, and have certainly seen better days
 21. Is there any point ? Or is it a false economy ? I'm looking for a set for my silent bass, there's a set for sale 4 years old but with minimal use. Thanks ! 😊
 22. That looks cool 😊 I've got a body like that in the loft, came off a Mexican P bass and a friend of my dads sprayed it with fiesta red nitro. 😊
