[/quote] I disagree, creative thinking is something that can be taught, or shown. It's actually something we're born with, but forget how to do. Watch a very young child, they're full of creativity. My nephew is 3 years old, cardboard box can be anything for him, a car, a plane a spaceship. As he gets older though, it's something that he'll grow out of. Some people don't lose touch of their creativity, in fact they let it grow and develop, it's down to how they're brought up and what they're encouraged to do, the sort of household they grow up in. Everyone has the potential to be creative, they just don't know it.

    You have to remember, one of the few industries (that's what music is), that's carried on making money during this recession is entertainment and the music business in particular.

    I read recently that music education improves a lot of other skills. It shouldn't be mandatory, but it should definitely be free and available to any child.     If you can play one major scale then you can play them all, the fingering is the same. Assuming you start on A 5th fret on the E string, move up a fret and you're playing Bb major, and so on along he string, moving up through the chromatic scale 😊

    I'm reorganising me workspace, I don't have a lot of room, and need to have it working right Part of this reorganisation is a clear out of unused gear such as this. It's a really great keyboard, ideal for carrying about, just hook it up to your laptop and you're away Pretty much like new, I only recently removed the clear plastic from the LED display.     I've had this for 2 weeks, and it's totally amazing, unfortunately I need something equally amazing but slightly smaller, I don't drive and travel everywhere by train and tube.     I'm most definitely not a Stingray expert, but the first thing that hit me was the logo doesn't look right. I googled Stingray and it's nothing like the ones in google images.     In excellent condition. Selling because I'm having a move around and I'm buying a new desk. Collection from Birmingham only really I guess, they're quite heavy, but I don't mind packing them up if you want them shipped. [/quote] That's my suggestion too. Monitors are more focused somehow, you get a good sound at a reasonably low level, and don't disturb people.

[/quote] An eBow is an amazing thing, it takes a bit of experimentation but once you get the hang then there's loads of things you can do with them. The TC Ditto is a good starter. You can really experiment with harmony on it. P.S - I should maybe point out that there's not an awful lot of 'real' bass playing on my stuff LOL , though everything is 'bass', no keyboards or samples.

[/quote] You can in looping, that's what I find so cool about it. It's really great with an eBow, you can use some really widely voiced chords even across 3 octaves, and using effects on them you get some really nice colours of sound.

They're cheapening what they and everyone else does. It's not just the time you're giving up for that gig, it's the time spent learning to play, learning the set, earning the money to buy the gear, fuel to get to rehearsals and to the gig. Stupid !

    For practicing and everything else I tend to plug into my Focusrite interface into Logic Pro and either monitor through headphones if it's really late, or through my monitors in the daytime. I have a project in Logic entitled 'practicing', it's just a DI simulator. You can import audio onto a track or tracks, so if I'm working on a set for someone, I'll just import all their songs and I can play along to them, repeating sections if I need to. I also have Transcribe software on my laptop, so this set up is great, if I'm transcribing something.

    It's been ages since I played in a pub. Personally I wouldn't expect to play for more than 45 minutes first set and maybe an hour in total second set. Most pub gigs don't exactly pay well do they ? 😊
