1.
You might have better luck advertising it on the "Stickist" forum, if you haven't already.
Yeah, I have it advertised on there. I've had about as much luck as on here, just someone offering me a ridiculously low amount for it.
2. Any takers for this magnificent instrument ?
3. I think having a policy is ok in theory, but in practice taking/getting money off someone for a lesson they didn't have is another matter. You also need to be a bit flexible. One guy I teach recently cancelled due to his father dying another broke his finger playing cricket. You'll just get people coming up with valid sounding excuses, are you going to ask for proof though ? I personally ask that they give me a reasonable period of notice, I wouldn't ask for money for a lesson they didn't have, for the reason above. I always try and give value for money, a guy I teach is totally new to bass, his first lesson a few weeks ago lasted almost 2 hours, though I only asked for payment for 1. It's a service that I enjoy doing.
4. Have you got notation software - Sibelius or anything ? You'll probably in fact almost certainly need it when you start at uni. I have a page open in Sibelius as I'm transcribing something, and put it in each note or phrase at a time. Sibelius is great because if you get something wrong then you can just drag the note down or up to where it's meant to be, or change the note value. You can also play it back to hear if you've written it out properly. There's a student version of Sibelius available.
5. Not exactly hip-hop, but a lot of the Robert Glasper stuff is jazz with hip-hop influences, and features double bass.
6.
The bass buggy is great for that. I prop it in the corner with the buggy still on and then use one of the straps from the case to secure it in the corner.
Cool, will look into that . Thanks for all the suggestions.
7. See my other advert for the actual stick that I'm currently selling. Here we have the following items. Chapman Stick official gig bag, in excellent condition - £75. Chapman Stick/Ultimate Support stand - £75. Tuition books - Mel Bay - Stickology - £15 Free Hands by Emmett Chapman - £25 The Stick book vol. 1 (with CD) - Greg Howard - £25 All prices include postage
8. I don't drive so it's trains and tube . I was looking at the wheels, they do look like a good idea, not sure it'd be good for on trains though, where I'd just prop the bass up in the corner. One I caught last week had bike storage areas that the guard said to use, so it spent an hour happily propped there.
9.
Will and Tom cases have wheels
Ah, excellent , will look into one of them !
10. I was really looking for something maybe on wheels.
11. Any suggestions on what to get ? It really needs to be on wheels. I was looking at this one here - http://www.gear4music.com/Woodwind-Brass-Strings/3-4-size-Double-Bass-Case-by-Gear4music/9IK
12. There's a Yamaha John Myung for sale on here in the basses for sale section. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/242727-yamaha-john-myung-rbx-jm2-plum-pearl/ They're quite nice. If that's your maximum budget I'd look for Yamaha or maybe Ibanez, and buy used, and try as many as you can until you find the right one.
13. I went on the Stick enterprises website last night. You can complete an on-line order form there, kind of design your perfect Stick, and get a price on your choice of options. This one, with the black/gold tuners, gold abalone position markers and hard case came in at $2,850, plus $200 shipping makes a grand total of $3,050. I'm guessing but I should imagine the custom black dye with the natural wood stripe would cost more on top of that. Anyway, add on VAT and import duty, you're probably looking at a price of at least £2,250 (possibly more with the black colour and natural binding). Making this something of a bargain without the long wait/delivery time. Screenshot of the order form -
14. Don't blame him at all. I've been to gigs where there's dozens of people 'watching' the performance through phones or even iPads. Go to a classical concert or ballet phones are banned full stop, I think they should be at contemporary gigs too.

SOld.

In great condition. I only really got this for the octave function, I've got an EBS Octabass now, so this is surplus to requirements, and taking up valuable space on my pedal board. It comes with the box and instructions. Postage included.

17. Just bought my Little Big Muff, an easy transaction
18. What a beautiful bass. My student loan and the sale of my Chapman stick can't come soon enough
19. Will split, if someone just wants the Stick and the case, make shipping easier
20. Thanks for your replies guys, much appreciated !
21.
Wow, that one is a real beauty!
It certainly is, you should see it for real
22.
That sounds like a fair deal and a good chance to see if you really bond with the bass then EDIT just to ask, are there no credit checks on it then? what is to stop you from taking the bass and not returning it?
You have to take photo ID, I asked if my student ID card was ok and he said yes, you need a debit card and proof of your address.
23. Don't know if this is any good to anyone ? It's an arrangement I did recently for my degree course. Sorry there's no TAB, I can't work out how to do it on Sibelius.
