1. Not exactly hip-hop, but a lot of the Robert Glasper stuff is jazz with hip-hop influences, and features double bass.
2.
The bass buggy is great for that. I prop it in the corner with the buggy still on and then use one of the straps from the case to secure it in the corner.
Cool, will look into that . Thanks for all the suggestions.
3. See my other advert for the actual stick that I'm currently selling. Here we have the following items. Chapman Stick official gig bag, in excellent condition - £75. Chapman Stick/Ultimate Support stand - £75. Tuition books - Mel Bay - Stickology - £15 Free Hands by Emmett Chapman - £25 The Stick book vol. 1 (with CD) - Greg Howard - £25 All prices include postage
4. I don't drive so it's trains and tube . I was looking at the wheels, they do look like a good idea, not sure it'd be good for on trains though, where I'd just prop the bass up in the corner. One I caught last week had bike storage areas that the guard said to use, so it spent an hour happily propped there.
5.
Will and Tom cases have wheels
Ah, excellent , will look into one of them !
6. I was really looking for something maybe on wheels.
7. Any suggestions on what to get ? It really needs to be on wheels. I was looking at this one here - http://www.gear4music.com/Woodwind-Brass-Strings/3-4-size-Double-Bass-Case-by-Gear4music/9IK
8. There's a Yamaha John Myung for sale on here in the basses for sale section. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/242727-yamaha-john-myung-rbx-jm2-plum-pearl/ They're quite nice. If that's your maximum budget I'd look for Yamaha or maybe Ibanez, and buy used, and try as many as you can until you find the right one.
9. I went on the Stick enterprises website last night. You can complete an on-line order form there, kind of design your perfect Stick, and get a price on your choice of options. This one, with the black/gold tuners, gold abalone position markers and hard case came in at $2,850, plus $200 shipping makes a grand total of $3,050. I'm guessing but I should imagine the custom black dye with the natural wood stripe would cost more on top of that. Anyway, add on VAT and import duty, you're probably looking at a price of at least £2,250 (possibly more with the black colour and natural binding). Making this something of a bargain without the long wait/delivery time. Screenshot of the order form -
10. Don't blame him at all. I've been to gigs where there's dozens of people 'watching' the performance through phones or even iPads. Go to a classical concert or ballet phones are banned full stop, I think they should be at contemporary gigs too.

SOld.

In great condition. I only really got this for the octave function, I've got an EBS Octabass now, so this is surplus to requirements, and taking up valuable space on my pedal board. It comes with the box and instructions. Postage included.

15. What a beautiful bass. My student loan and the sale of my Chapman stick can't come soon enough
16. Will split, if someone just wants the Stick and the case, make shipping easier
17. Thanks for your replies guys, much appreciated !
18.
Wow, that one is a real beauty!
It certainly is, you should see it for real
19.
That sounds like a fair deal and a good chance to see if you really bond with the bass then EDIT just to ask, are there no credit checks on it then? what is to stop you from taking the bass and not returning it?
You have to take photo ID, I asked if my student ID card was ok and he said yes, you need a debit card and proof of your address.
20. Don't know if this is any good to anyone ? It's an arrangement I did recently for my degree course. Sorry there's no TAB, I can't work out how to do it on Sibelius. 21. I wouldn't get credit, I'm a student. It's the Eastman 80. I'm probably gonna go for the £40, after 3 months if you decide to buy, they offset what you've paid in rental against the buy it price.
22. As you can see from my other thread, and my wanted advert, I'm in the market for a cheap'ish double bass . I really want something 2nd hand, I'm going to be using it for small gigs and a bit of busking for a latin/jazz set that my one band plays. I'm also maybe leaning towards the rental thing. There's a shop not too far from me called Bassbags - http://www.bassbags.co.uk/Double-Bass-Hire.html You can rent an Eastman double bass for £40 a month, or £70 with the rent to buy scheme, after 24 months the bass is yours. The guy at the shop seems incredibly friendly and helpful. All the basses are totally set up before they leave the shop, new strings, top nut, bridge and fingerboard are planed to match, the sound post is adjusted etc. So it all seems great . Are these basses any good though ? Or would I maybe be better off getting something used in a month or so when I've more cash ? Thanks in anticipation of your wise words !
23.
They are definitely misleading the buyers Delivery: Estimated between Fri. 8 Aug. and Mon. 11 Aug. Seller ships within 1 day after receiving cleared This is very much suggesting that they would have it in stock or get it within a day to dispatch. That would therefore lead me to buy from them where if I knew the reality I wouldn't buy from them and I would buy elsewhere. False claims are not good....
That's why I ordered them, I was expecting them to be delivered last week, and was surprised when they didn't turn up. I gave it until yesterday then contacted them only to be told they weren't in stock. Very annoying all round really.
24. Better photos bump.
