Kind of blue for jazz, my first exposure to jazz as a teenaged bassist. Duke - my first introduction to Genesis. Wish you were here - my older bother played me this once on holiday, totally blew me away. If this bass could only talk by Stanley Clarke, first heard it when I was maybe 16 or something. Phaedra by Tangerine dream. The planets by Holst, we were played it at primary school in assembly, 1 suite per day. It was my first time really listening to classical music. Joni Mitchell - Hejira - my first time hearing Jaco.
too tight or not tight enough?
Too wide, it's something like 20mm. My Modulus is only about 17mm.

You may actually find that it's the string spacing that's affecting you more than the scale length. 34" to 35" is only an inch spread across the fretboard, I don't notice switching from 34" scale to 35" and back again, but I did find the spacing on the TRB6 that I had to be somewhat awkward, and the fingerboard radius is very flat. I've said many times that you need to try as many 6's as possible before buying one.

Glad you got something you're happy with !
To cut a long story short I love my Warwick Corvette and wish to keep it however my shoulder doesn't agree! The bass comes in at 6kilos! I've been considering getting a mono strap to help with the weight issue But at the moment I'm unemployed and the £36 is quite a bit of an expense but if it saves my shoulder from getting buggered. basically my question is "Are Mono straps worth the money?" Cameron
I found them to be too long, even the short one is very long even at its shortest. I just couldn't get comfortable with it. I'm not a Mark King wannabe either . I use a comfort strapp, which I find to be excellent.

Never owned one, but they do look very cool. I remember seeing an EBS 8x10 a few years ago, it looked amazing, I dread to think why it weighed though.

I read somewhere about someone sending a bolt on necked bass in 2 parts. Seems like a good idea, especially if there's no hard case. You could detach the neck, and really go to town with bubble wrap, use a large, deep, rectangular box.

It's not a new thing though breaking into vans, I was reading the other day about King crimson having all their stuff nicked out of a tour van years ago, and return to forever back in the 70's. I think most insurance policies are worded that items mustn't be left unattended too.
The T word is first Transport, costing, parking, gear safety and security. Get the wrong and the Tour comes to an immediate end. Gangs follow vans from venues of non local bands , it's a sure hit they will be parking up at some digs. They never have any reservations about unloading the van late at night...
That's why I'd make contact with other bands, do support gigs for them, you may even get somewhere to stay out if it, even if it's just someone's sofa 😊
As a receiving customer I have found all of the companies bad at some point apart from Parcelforce and DPD. UPS are the most shocking (lying about it being left with someone, not leaving cards, not even attempting to open gate (as I watched out of window)) DPD are the only company that actually use the technology available. Message send before parcel dispatched so you can arrange a different day before the first attempt. Message received on day of delivery in the morning stating what time parcel will arrive (within an hour) and it has always met that time. Missed deliveries and having to attempt to deliver the same parcel more than once and then store it, handle it etc,. must be the biggest monetary waste the companies have but only DPD seem to be doing anything to help it. I always use Parcelforce as it is the easiest as there are literally hundreds of POs I can use so suits me best. The prices are high but the buyer is paying the postage not me....
I've had things delivered by DPD, they do seem to be rather good, it's nice to know when to expect them, they send a text message on the day of delivery giving a time frame of when to expect them, you can change this if it's not suitable. Don't use Parcelforce, as mentioned earlier, they'll take your money for the insurance, but they don't cover musical instruments.

Don't forget National express too, possibly better than trains they run later.
-
Possibly a bit if a silly suggestion, but train companies usually offer good discounts for groups.

I've been thinking about this for a few weeks. Imagine you've found 'the one', your bass that you intend to keep hold of. Having seen on here a few times recently about gear being stolen, how would you go about marking a bass to deter would be thieves ?
-
Maybe use Facebook and get in touch with bands similar to yours ?
I've use Parcelforce to ship a bass without any problems before. It cost about £20 insured. I sent it in a bass box, wrapped in bubble wrap with particular attention paid to supporting the neck and the headstock. I also put a layer of bubble wrap and cardboard between the strings and the fretboard to try and avoid damaging the frets.
Parcelforce don't insure musical instruments. You may have paid the premium, but they wouldn't have paid out if you'd claimed. Meet somewhere, train fare can be cheap, coach fare even cheaper !

I was going to say try as many as you can to ensure you get the right one. I think a lot of people buy one, and don't get on with it, simply because it's not the right one for them.

Witch burn him, burn him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yp_l5ntikaU Talk about mountains and mole hills.

I gotta say, it's between the 2 guys, not really for anyone else to get worked up about, and start interfering. Just my opinion.

You definitely need at least 1 form of photo id to open a bank account. My dad recently changed his and had to take his passport as well as a utility bill to prove his address.
-
I saw this a few weeks ago, I remember thinking it was a great price. Really, truly sorry to hear you got scammed. Personally I wouldn't buy a bass that I couldn't collect, I won't even sell on Gumtree unless the buyer collects.
Really nice sounds, and lovely playing - props to you, sir! My only suggestion would be to delete the tambourine from track 2 - the music has enough of a pulse already, and I find the clack-clack sound a bit intrusive. But maybe that's just me!
Thanks for the comments and listening .

These are a few very, very rough demos of songs I've recorded over the last couple of days. There are no synths or keyboards, it's all (except the odd bit of percussion, and occasional Chapman stick) 6 string bass, there's a lot of use of my ebow, and lots of reverb, delay and distortion. Comments are welcome, but do remember they're just sketches .
