I've had a few rather low trade offers from people, well meaning I'm sure, but this bass would be £2500 if ordered new from Mayones, so this is a bargain price for a great bass. I don't need to sell it, I'm happy it just sitting here with just the occasional bump until I find a buyer. I will be taking it off sale soon, I have a loads of course work to do and exams coming up that I need to concentrate on. So if it doesn't sell in the next week or so, it'll be withdrawn until the summer, so if you're interested get in quick .

I think most charge £25 to £30 an hour, and usually there's a discount for 2 hours.

Genz Benz shuttle 6. Sounded like a wasp in a jar, and had the most ridiculously noisy fan, hated it loads.

Something I'm working on for my degree course. It has to include a wind instrument, either brass or woodwind. I'm using an oboe sample, but I've enlisted the help of a lady oboe player who's very generously donated her time to replace the samples with a real oboe, in return I've said she can use the music on her website. Check it out and please let me know what you think. https://soundcloud.com/ambient-bassist/happier-now
Interesting.... Any neck dive when seated or standing?
No, it hangs really nicely, the weight is biased ever so slightly to the body, so it just hangs in the perfect position. I used it briefly last year for a couple of live things at university, my one tutor tried it and fell in love with it. He's not a 6 string player, but thought it was without doubt the nicest playing 6 string he'd played.

What's the difference between a total stranger from on here, Ebay or Gumtree ? A stranger is a stranger, or am I missing something, has there been a spate of mad axe men killing people whilst posing as buyers of goods from on Gumtree ? Seriously though, I do totally understand what you're saying. I've never taken anyone up into my studio room. When someone calls to pick anything up, then I take it downstairs and set it up there for them to try it. Some of the nicest people I've sold to though were off Gumtree, the rudest was actually from off here. A presenter from a local radio station bought a condenser mic from me recently, you get all sorts.

The video keeps stopping for me, and I can't quite make out everything that's on the board behind him. I'm guessing though that if you look at the chords along the top, and what he's written underneath. EbMaj7 is the 1 chord of Eb, it's also the IVMaj chord of Bb. Dm7 is the IIm chord of C, the IIIm chord of Bb and the VIm chord of F. Gm7 is the IIm of F, the IIIm of Eb and relative minor of Bb. Cm7 is the IIm of Bb and the IIIm of Ab.

I've sold loads of things on Gumtree, never had a problem. If you're not easy with a stranger in your house (isn't everyone a stranger when you've never met them before ?), bring the amp in to a room with nothing valuable on show, hallway or somewhere, let them try it there. Make sure someone is with you.

I carry my basses miles every week in a Mono Vertigo bag. I have a mile and a half walk to the train station, it goes in the overhead luggage thing on the train to London. I then carry it on the tube to uni and carry it around from one class to another all day. Then same in reverse on the way home. That's 3 maybe 4 days a week. If my trains don't work out right, I have to wait around for a few hours, and I like to walk down by the Thames. I catch the tube to Westminster and walk down to tower bridge, have coffee then walk back up to London bridge and catch the tube back to the train station. That's several miles, and I have no problem carrying the bass. I'm 6ft tall and weigh around 11 stone, so I'm not exactly well built. I've got soaked more than once this year, and the bag has remained watertight every time. My choice would undoubtably be the Vertigo. I sold a Contego to pay for the Vertigo, it was too heavy.

I travel to uni in London 3 days a week, by train. I use a Mono Vertigo, it's nice and sleek, and offers great protection for my basses. The only thing it lacks is stowage for bits and pieces.

what will a 5 banger bring me (apart from an extra string!)
ambient replied to thebuckets's topic in Bass Guitars
All the low notes on the E string are on the B string from the 5th fret upwards, means you don't have to move about so much, you can pretty much play everything around the middle of the neck, playing across the fretboard, instead of along it. -
I think after you've played with a low action for a while, then you'll gradually adjust your playing style and the fret buzzing will stop. My Modulus has extremely low action, and the strings I'm using are a low tension balanced set with gauges 118, 90, 67, 49, 35, 22. You can just about get my bank debit card under the strings at the 12th fret. A lot of people find it unplayable to start with, but soon get the hang of it. .It all depends what you want to achieve. If you want to use a pick and really dig in when playing then you'll need a high action, I just don't like making things hard for myself

A friend of mine has a really beautiful pre E/B Stingray bass. I don't get on with Stingrays, it sounds amazing in his hands, rubbish in mine. Someone at uni has a Stingray, gets a great sound from it, I haven't played it, but I'm guessing it wouldn't sound the same if I did.
Imagine what it must be like for the drummer having Gary Husband watching him ever day !
You know, that's exactly what I thought too ! Must be cold in there, Etienne M'Bappe's wearing gloves .
If I were inclined to want to sound like Flea, the first thing I would attend to would be his technique: studying albums, getting info and watching video clips, and making sure my chops were up to the task. As far as what instrument to buy? - I would be stumped... Of all the Chilli's albums and numerous basses he's used, which one has Fleas tone? it's not a good analogy.
It's absolutely terrible analogy . If you want to sound like any player, then you need to study how they play. It's no good just going out any buying the same gear, you need to play like they do too. Like I said in an earlier post, I've seen guys at college play other peoples basses, and they sound different. Guys have played my basses in live workshops, same amp, room, string, cable, cab everything, but they sound different to me.

Mono do one, should imagine it'd be expensive though.
