Re-advertise, and get number 1 back for a few more rehearsals. Explain to him that he's currently your choice to join, but you want to (at the moment), leave your options open to see how it works out. That will - 1) Give him time to practice more, and get his playing chops back up. 2) Give you chance to see that he can play to the standard you want. 3) Give you and maybe him a get out option if it's not working, plus hopefully you'll have had some more people contact you.

Having never actually played a lined fretless, can you actually see the lines ?

That's why I'm selling it really I have my modulus and my fretless so I really don't have need for another bass, and there are other things I do need. -

I was taught to fret a fretted bass as close to the fret as possible. On a lined fretless definitely on the line. Having just started on fretless, I'm surprised how easily I've adapted to it, and how good my hearing actually is, I know if the note is even only slightly out.

Probably best to know that the key has a C # and F# though. If you were just jamming in that key you'd want to know, or I'd want to, but I'm probably opening a huge tin of worms here

Key signatures are the flats or sharps at the start of the piece if music. They tell you what key you're in. No flats or sharps is either C major or its relative minor which is A minor. One flat is F major again that has a relative minor too D minor but I guess I'm complicating things a bit. Have a look at this, it may help.

I had some KRK's, very nice and can be bought used. I currently have some Yamaha HS80M's that are really amazing, out of your price range maybe, but worth considering if you can up your budget at all. They're based on the old NS10's I believe.

I'm mainly after reverb and delays, I hate distortion and overdrive on bass, possibly modulation effects too and some filters. Definitely not interested in the amp simulations that most seem to have. I'd like to be able to switch things around, and play about with presets which is why I'm after a multi effects unit, rather than separate pedals. Is something like a TC G major what I should be looking for. I'm really into the Steve Lawson, Michael Manring vibe thing. I do a lot of writing on my laptop, soundscapes etc, and want to get into a similar thing on bass. Thanks .

[center]This is a beautiful luthier built bass, crafted in the Mayones workshop in Poland. I have a nice selection of 6 string basses, and this is the least used, and I could do with the money for other projects that I'm becoming increasingly involved in. It's in excellent condition, with no major dents or scratches, just very minor player wear. Currently strung with D'addario Pro steels and has a nice low action. The pickups are LeFay rough crystal and the preamp is made by Noll. These together give a really clean and transparent sound. I had the ramp built by a local luthier, it's just attached with double sided tape, and can easily be removed. The body is ash, and the facing is Apple tree wood. The through neck is 9 pieces of ash and something else . Collection from either Birmingham or London is preferred. Through-neck basses on a budget - advice please?

The Ibanez BTB are through necked, seriously great value for money and are excellent basses too, not just for the money either, they're used by some pro prayers. -

A cheap fretless may put you off altogether. I've played some cheap and mid priced fretless basses, and found them to be very uninspiring. Have a play on a few fretless basses of similar quality to yours and then see what you think, if you don't like it after its been de-fretted, it's a relatively simple job to get it re-fretted.
