1. Just found this. Looks pretty cool.
2.
Yes, 2000 watts (and only 1000 for the valve pre-amp version). Quite why they have to do this beats me - how many people will decide not to buy them through fear of damaging their speakers? Plus they`ve not got enough of a name in the bass amp market anyway. Keep them to the regular 500 watts which is plenty loud enough and if sales work out then add higher powered models. Seems daft to me.
The Americans like lots of watts, probably the same thing they have with cars, houses and fridges, they always have to be huge. I remember when EBS bought out that little head a couple of years ago, there were all these posts on talkbass about how low the output was. Also lets remember, this is a bass amp, and it's made by Behringer, so the actual true output is almost certainly nowhere near 2000 watts !
3. I found these sites last week, pretty useful if you're into jazz . http://www.myrealbook.com/realbook_index.htn http://www.realbooksite.com http://www.cs.hmc.edu/~keller/jazz.html
4. I got the bass version it's not in there unfortunately 😞
5. Lee Ritenour ? I have a transcription at home on my laptop, I'll post it up later.
6. What style ? I've played all the things you are with the bass playing the melody as an intro.
7. It's been ages since I used garage band but I found amp design pretty good.
8. Just switch off all the presets on the channel.
9.
Right, yes, I knew that, but why call it tracking instead of recording? There isn't any difference, that I can see.
Tracking because you are recording tracks as opposed to a whole piece. The tracks are then mixed down into a mix.
10.
Did you eventually find a bass player?
I emailed them weeks ago and they didn't reply, so I presume yes !
11.
Look up Quite Firm - Laurence Cottle That'll get you using all of the strings and memorising the notes
Great choice ! I have a transcription for that somewhere, I'll post it up if I can locate it.
12. The thing with a 6 is there's a symmetry that's missing on a 5, you still have a normal 4 string bass inside the 2 new strings, for me that makes the transition a bit easier.
13. I saw him a few years ago with Carla Bley. Great player !
14. Don't see it makes any difference, if you're gonna learn to play a 5 you may as well learn to play a 6. Get a few lessons too, correct technique is vital.
15. I once saw and fell in love with an EBS 6x10, looked and sounded amazing, weighed as much as a small house. Personally I'd go 2x10 and 4x10, the you've got a 2x10 for small gigs, a 4x10 for larger ones and both for big ones.
16.
You got a Euro account then?!!
Thomann's prices are in pounds aren't they ?
17. There's a student version of Sibelius that's pretty much the same as the full version, if anyone's a student or knows a student. Though I have a slightly fallen of the back of a lorry version, glad I didn't pay full money for it. But it is really good if you can ignore the fact it does things you don't want it to do at times when you really don't want it to .
18.
I tried it and hated it. I find Sibelius much more user friendly. I wanted something I could use on a netbook (Sibelius would have overwhelmed it) so tried Musescore but everything took so long to do by comparison, I deleted it. Never actually completed anything on it!!
If you find Sibelius user friendly then I think I'd really hate Musecore . I've had Sibelius 7 for about 4 months and it's done it's best at times to give me a nervous breakdown, it's literally had me shouting in frustration at my laptop onboard a train .
19. That does look cool 😃 Funny but I was only reading this thread a few hours ago after seeing the mazetti 7 string in the eBay section.
20. Never heard of Mazetti, but I do like that. I take it they're not Italian .
21. I think my Ultimate is a 100. This is it. The bit the bass sits in tapers backwards, making it great for wider necked basses, they sit towards the front but narrower ones sit towards the back. There's a wide piece of rubber clips across the front to stop them coming out, but I doubt they would 'cos the whole thing leans backwards slightly. I don't get where someone said they're big ? I don't think they're any bigger than a Hercules model. They just suit wider necked basses better, and the stuff on the legs is better. My TRB6P wouldn't fit in a Hercules stand . They're also significantly cheaper than the Hercules models, around £20.
22. I use Ultimate Support GS1000's, I think that's what they are anyway. I find them better for the wider necks in my basses, the Hercules ones are wide enough. For ultra compact there's the tiny Hercules one, that's actually really good, but doesn't work on jazz basses, or any other with an offset bottom.
