According to Al, it's a cinema classic that no-one could reasonably not know about... ...I had a peek on t'tube, to find out what I'd been missing all these decades, and was... ehem... shall we say 'somewhat underwhelmed'... Never mind all that; just get composing..!
Never heard of him.
Serves you damned right for not colluding..! (No, I didn't either, so I'm just as dumb... ). How about "The illusion of Burt Reynolds"..? No..? Not inspired yet..? (Incidentally, thanks; I didn't know who was in the photo. I'll return the favour; the title of the Escher work is "Ascending descending"...) "The Escher 'tach"..? No better..? Hmm... You're a difficult one, you are... "Monk bandits"..? "Reynolds Stare lift"..? "Stepping out with Burt"..? "Stairs and doors"..? "Un tâche sur l'escalier"..? "Bandits climbing to the bottom"..? No..? Still nowt..? I give up, then. Maybe I'll superimpose the pics and see what happens..? ...or create a 'beat' of tramping feet from a sampled car door slamming. Go on, I'm sure you're cap. Not 'easy peasy', I'll allow, but all the others have the same handicap..! Whatever, it's going to be a really off-the -wall winner this month, that's pretty certain. Good luck...
Burt Reynolds, that's who the guy in the car is ?

Anyone used these, what are your thoughts on them ? I'm thinking of buying a balanced tension set.
I actually do like a bass solo and i've seen Anthony Jackson with various groups over the years and he is undoubtably a superb bass player but i found that clip really tedious. If i was in that room with that lot i'd happily pay to get out of it rather than in. There's only so much twiddly-diddly stuff a man can endure.
Know what you're saying . I saw him maybe 5 or 6 years ago with Mike Stern at the college I'm now a student at. I've never seen him live with a band though, it's definitely something I intend to do.

I hate cabbage, so I don't eat it. I don't feel the need to eat a large plateful and then pronounce to everyone assembled around me how much I disliked it . This is a nice bit of film, it shows close up some of his right hand techniques.
That would make sense! I was just wondering if it's common place? Also is there any difference between the altered mode and super locrian? I always thought they were the same thing?
Super locrian and altered are one and the same .

Here's one, answer to the name Patsy .

Here's a screenshot using Natwest's currency converter. E1889 = £1440. A bit of a difference . I realise that that's probably not the true amount I'd have to pay via my bank, but I doubt it's too far off.
You sure about your figures? In the first line, at the rate quoted, your £1,570 buys 1,801 euros. You need a rate closer to 1.20 to reach a figure circa 1,889. The figures in the second line are even more screwy. Not saying PayPal's rates won't be less favourable than bank rates, but those numbers just don't stack.
Here's a screenshot of the Paypal page. if you log into Paypal, go to your profile and click currencies you get to this page. You enter the currency that you want to pay in, and enter how much the seller needs to receive, and it calculates how much you'll have to pay. That's where my figure of £1629 comes from. You can see Paypal's exchange rate just next to the final figure they want to charge me.

A H/W diminished works because it contains the altered extensions similar as the altered or super locrian, flat 9, sharp 9, sharp 11 etc.
And then you can find out how much your bank charges extra for foreign money transfer and you can bet they won't give you todays exchange rate either.
It's a £10 fee, I'm with Natwest. But it's like warwickhunt said above, I'm a student and that's a huge sum to lose, that's why I got the guy to agree with Paypal, and to split the 3.8% fee. I'm not saying for a moment that there's anything dodgy about the guy, but I like to play safe. When I sell something I lie to meet the buyer in person. Just in case anything goes wrong.

I've agreed to purchase a 6 string fretless bass from a member who lives in Germany. We've agreed a price of E1889 including shipping, which according to my bank is £1570 at todays exchange rate of £1 = E1.1473 I just tried to pay the guy via paypal, and paypal are trying to charge me £1629.80, that's £59 more, their exchange rate is £1 = E1.5934. They're already charging a 3.8% fee, that I've agreed to split with the seller. What a rip off !
Everyone should be made to play one of these at some point in their playing career - absolutely sublime experience
A Fodera 6 is my dream bass .
WARNING..........WARNING..........WARNING If you think Jools is bad then please do not be tempted by turning on the radio. Johnny Vaughan is on Talksport. So unless you want to hear this buffoon talk endless moronic drivel usually about himself then avoid at all cost.
I thought that's what all radio DJ's did ? I had the misfortune a short while ago to be stuck in a car travelling for 6 hours, not my car and not me driving. I had to put up with Chris Evans (this is way before my usual wake up time too ), who has to be the most annoying person on the planet, this was followed by some scots dick who I think was suffering from dementia. Then some abysmal phone in show, where lots of people who almost certainly read the Daily mail and haven't quite woken up to the fact that the year is 2013 phoned up and talked nonsense, then there was to cap it all, as if the previous 3 hadn't been bad, Steve Wright !
I got two dep offers for tonight. I chose the 'lucrative' one, only to be told yesterday that their bassist can now do the gig. They're a good bunch of guys though and they're paying me £85 (a half share) for not playing tonight.
Wish someone would pay me not to play, maybe if I went busking .

I wonder if the guy who builds the basses has ever heard of fodera 😃
-
There was a video of him playing in a park that I saw recently - he is extremely good 😃 nice bass too !

I thought he was dead.

The thing with couriers, like the Royal mail, they handle tens of thousands of items each day, some are gonna get lost or damaged. For every one that is lost or damaged, there are a thousand more that aren't, but you only get to hear about the ones that are damaged or mis-delivered. Yodel are or were DHL. I bought a cab from a guy on here a couple of years ago. He lived in Scotland and shipped it without a box or any packaging, just in its cover. He just stuck the label on and gave it to the courier (DHL), it got as far as Lichfield which is just up the road from me, before the cab and the label became separated from one another. It took just a couple of phone calls from me to track the cab down, it was tracked to Lichfield luckily, so I knew it was there, I just described what it was and they found it. They were extremely helpful.
Looking good! Yup, you get woodworm holes in Wishbass wood. He uses reclaimed and found wood for that authentic rustic patina! Have you checked the Wishbass re-fins at Dave's Bass Place? http://www.davesbass...efinishing.html
Some very cool looking instruments there ! I like his attitude too, "if you think I'm wrong, buy something else" . You're never wrong with an opinion, it's yours, it's not wrong just possibly different to someone else's.

Anyone see the furry Chewbacca Wookie one ?
