1. Slightly off topic, but interesting non the less A good way to remember the series of flats and sharps in a key is to picture a 6 string bass. Start with the G string, one sharp, next string is D, 2 sharps, next A 3 sharps, E 4 sharps, B 5 sharps, you run out of strings then but next it'd be F#. Flats picture the notes at the 1st fret, C none, F 1, Bb 2, Eb 3, Ab 4, Db 5 then it'd Gb which has 6.
2.
not only did I report it several times I actually chatted with a rep who only insisted I press the report button even though I told him I had, but I was talking to a guy who would only recite from some ebay book of 'dealing with your customer quotes' , it was like banging your head against a brick wall..... Some poor sod just spent £331 on a second hand Encore
I desperately wanted to contact the buyer, but you can't.
3. I reported this to ebay 3 or 4 times over the last 2 days, they did nothing whatsoever about it.
4.
Would you be interested in selling for a Ernie Ball Music Man Classic Stingray, Tobacco Sunburst, with receipts and in good condition.
Thanks for the offer, I don't get on with Stingrays though.
5.
Me too. I can't bear Dream Theatre, Yes, etc. I love Rush and Genesis, but that's far as my prog travels take me. I think it's because the 'clever stuff' is secondary to the songs and the atmosphere.
I've never liked Yes they always seemed a bit pretentious somehow. Dream theatre either until a few weeks ago, I've owned CD's of their's for ages, and tried to like them, but never could. Then I started listening to them again a couple of weeks back, and have gotten into them a bit. I have to say though, they don't seem to have songs that stick in your memory.
6. You get a certain sound with a pick that you don't get using your fingers. The 'attack' is different. Ive always used my fingers to play, but we have songs coming up at uni soon that require a pick, so it's something I'm working on too.
7.
Can almost get a bass that looks new for that. A serious note though, the price is suffering from taxes and import duties etc.
Sill over $4,200 though, a lot of money. I know it's a cool bass, but . 8.
Miles who???
Some trumpet playing dead guy, I believe he could play a bit, and was quite cool.
9. Isn't the Pino bass a custom shop instrument ? When I looked the other week it was something like £3,000 from GAK .
10. One of my tutors at uni buys recycled cardboard wallets and uses a stamp to print them herself.
11. The last time I looked on the site there was a beautiful build diary for (I think) a jazz bass, it showed his attention to detail.
12. Talk about loyalty, something that's sadly lacking in most areas of life today. What about this from Ron Carter though ?
13. Some great looking basses here, I may soon be joining this merry band . Gotta say I've never actually played an Overwater, though I have heard one often enough to know how they can sound.
14. The bravewood was probably the most realistic looking relic that I've seen. More often than not they just don't look right. You think, well why would the paint be worn off there ? I mean who wears clothes with sleeves made out of sandpaper ? I think fender started using poly finish in about 1963, that just wouldn't wear on the top through the action of someone's sleeve.
15. Is it a relic you're after ? There's a Nash is the sales section. I played a bravewood relic a few years ago, it was really quite odd, it didn't just look old, but it felt it too, it genuinely seemed to be old.
16. I think it's to do with the key signature. If you look at E major for instance, it's got 4 sharps, C, D, F and G. So if you harmonised that scale you wouldn't call the 3 chord A flat, it's going to be G sharp. Bb has 2 flats, B and E. Harmonising that you wouldn't call the 4 chord D sharp, it's going to be E flat.
17. Makes you wonder why London currently has its jazz festival running for the 21st year in a row, surely if it really is so universally disliked, nobody would turn up for it, so it'd be a waste of time, or maybe it's just this thread that's a waste of time .
18. The truss rod adjustment looks to be slightly offset, I know there's concern sometimes about Fender's QC, but I've never seen one where the truss rod adjustment is under the A string .
19. Now interested in trades for any 6 string bass, not just fretless. I also have cash to offer as well for the right bass. A Modulus fretless 6 would be amazing, but equally interested in Zon, Status, Overwater, Shuker, Sei.
20. My personal all time pick player, shows just how versatile the pick can be in the right hands. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExmJEvdqoKs Who says jazz can't be played with a pick ?
21. It's a sign of the times that this is still available, and whaaaaaaaat a bargain too !
22.
Sorry to be a petty pooper but I'm with the complainant on this one. Peace and quiet at home is something I value highly. It really is no effort to use headphones. I had to go and face off my work shy neversweat of a noisy neighbour at 2 in the morning a few days ago - pissed up and rowing with the fat nightmare he lives with. Not being one to mince words he's been quiet as a mouse since. I expect being told by a bloke in a monkey onsie that he's going to tear your head off and sh*t down your neck is a pretty scary thing !
See this is where the 'like' button would again be great.
23. Steve Lawson is an awesome fretless player, he's very influenced by vocalist like frank Sinatra, plays a 6 string and incorporates a lot of chords. Michael Manring, absolutely amazing player, not of this Earth. Alain Caron. Marcus Miller, believe it or not he plays a lot of fretless, listen to some of his live albums. Mick Kahn from Japan. There's a few to be getting along with
24. Yeah possibly holding too tight. Practice it at home, build up your stamina slowly, set yourself little exercises, a bar of down stoke quarter notes, then a bar of up strokes then a bar alternating between the 2. Use a metronome and start slowly, building up the tempo.
