1. I had a similar problem with my old macbook, it was one of the white plastic bodied ones, maybe about 5 years old. My tracks are quite dense with lots of layers of synths, and it used to stick when I was playing tracks back. That was a RAM problem, I think it only had maybe 500 MB available. I use it a lot for uni, so I blew a big portion of January's student loan and bought a new one, the problem's stopped now. Hopefully what I've posted above will work for you.
2.
sorry hope I don't sound dumb but what do you mean by freeze?
Not dumb at all. I've just checked in garageband on my laptop, which may be a later version than you're running, and you can lock a track. In Logic it's called freezing it, which converts the midi to audio, freeing up RAM. There's an article here. http://www.murrayewing.co.uk/gmoogb/article_04.php Hope this helps dude !
3. You can un-freeze them at a later date.
4. Try freezing tracks that you've already recorded. Freezing them turns them to audio (asuming you're recording MIDI tracks too) and stores them on the HD, so it'll free up RAM.
5. Am I imagining things, or had they used to do the cheaper (GWB35) model in a natural finish like this ?
6. Google it, there are a few really great sites specifically doing Mac recording stuff. What Mac are you using, it could be a memory issue.
7. I'm not at home at the moment, and haven't used Garageband for some time. I use Logic which is much the same thing, but I'm sure you should be seeing your zoom as the input.
8. The nylon coated Rotosounds are the best. The colour came off 2 sets of the DR's that I had within about 5 minutes of playing. That's with fingers, very lightly.
9. I read the Joe Zawinul biography "In a silent way" by Brian Glasser, recently. It's very detailed and really interesting. It is quite bass related too, goes into quite a lot of depth about the various bassists in weather report.
10. They do seem to go for less than the 4 string model, which is a bit odd.
11.
It was an amazing weekend. I think you're right - '86, as I had my Jaydee with the custom pickup and I think I got it in that year. Hopefully some other people will drop by that were there
Custom pickup ? Kind of like a double size pickup ?
12. Would love this, I'd really like an EUB. The black finish looks really cool.
13. It was an amazing weekend, really exciting ! Pretty certain it was 1986, I'd have been 9. We were in the same class by the way I was sat next to Nathan King on the day he was introduced as Mark King's brother. He had this really odd looking bass, looked like a jigsaw piece.
14. I think this is actually 1985, maybe even '86. Definitely not '82 though, cos I was only 5 then. I was there, my mom and dad took me down for the weekend, they dropped me off each morning then picked me up afterwards.
15. They're awesome basses. Mine's about 9 years old now. Natural ash body with a maple fretboard, the ash has aged really nicely. I'd like a fretless model too later this summer. They are tremendously versatile, I've used mine on jazz gigs as well as the typical funk and Bernard Edwards stuff.
16. I love 5 string bass, it seems to make more sense to me, nice low D and C without re-tuning. I tend to play in one position, around the 5th fret just as you're suggesting.
17.
Bass chords are horrible and should be banned or kept in Spinal Tap tribute acts!
Not at all, a well voiced chord sounds awesome on a bass, especially a 6 string.
18. I have a few books that I'd prefer to sell as a job lot. Gary Willis's ear training book - in fairly good condition. All books include CD's where appropriate. £20 including UK postage.
19. I've always thought these look sooooooooooooooooooo cool !
20. If there were no for sale section then how would the site manage ?
21. Would it not be better to have set the fee at say £5 and have maybe 500 for sale adverts over a given period of time, rather than set it at £20 and only have say 50 adverts ? Those are only just figures plucked from the ether of course, but you see my point ?
22. I think the £20 fee puts people off. There was a post the other week from someone who wanted to sell a bass, but couldn't afford the fee. I sold a condenser mic a couple of weeks ago, I only wanted £70 for it, but take off the £20 and that leaves me with just £50, almost a 3rd of the price. I sold it via Gumtree in the end, it cost nothing and sold within two hours.

24. It's probably just me, but having looked at the real merchandise I find myself asking why would anyone want a Basschat lanyard ?
