  1. They are apparently going to relax the rules about visiting other people’s homes, as long as you’re outside. If they do that, and the neighbours don’t mind, then I guess there’s nothing stopping bands from practicing outdoors in a garden?
  2. The 2 metre rule applies everywhere, that’s why schools will have reduced class sizes and children sitting at individual desks, rather than at tables.
  3. The shops that are opening will have to comply with strict health and safety regulations, with only a limited number of people allowed in at a time. I read somewhere yesterday that pubs and clubs won’t be opening until September at the earliest, again with strict limits on numbers and spacing. Even if they did reopen, I’m not sure I’d fancy spending any time at all inside a rehearsal room with other people.
  4. I’ve used NinJam a few times, it works well. You need to have Reaper though.
  5. I think you shared that on another thread recently? You’re absolutely right, that bass with that sound is perfect. A brilliant track.
  6. He’s got a massive back catalogue. For the rockier stuff there’s later Porcupine Tree, particularly Fear of a blank planet and Deadwing. For more pop orientated music listen to his work in No-man, especially Schoolyard ghosts and Together we're stranger.
  7. His previous band was Porcupine Tree, with Richard Barbieri, Colin Edwin and Gavin Harrison. He’s half of the duo No-man with Tim Bowness. He’s done some lovely stuff minimal drony stuff as Bass Communion. He was briefly in Rain, tree crow with Mick Kahn, Richard Barbieri and Steve Jensen. Half of the duo Blackfield. He’s had his own band now for about ten years, featuring some amazing players. Nick has been in from the start, as has Adam Holzman who played with Miles Davis at one point. He’s also remixed and produced for dozens of artists. I think he has been referred to as a best kept secret, but he’s had quite a bit of success, especially in the past 5 years or so, with sell out nights at RAH.
  8. Yeah, he doesn’t take himself too seriously, though I doubt he’ll do that with Steven Wilson 😁.
  9. I’m a great fan of both. For obvious reasons, release of the new album has been postponed. https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR1r7fnIS3ya9xbYMkKAbVCuf6ZBFI1mF1-jsa5kYkwhmwfFwobbW2OXC1E&v=uROM05_ARxc
  10. I think there’s someone advertising for one of these in the wanted section.
  11. I think the M80 does. I haven’t seen a Kapsule. The couple of times I’ve flown I’ve taken the bass on board with me, that’s got increasingly difficult recently though.
  12. A friend of mine who flies a lot with her basses uses one of those bass safe things. You put the instrument in a gig bag, and put that in the bass safe. It’s on wheels too. It’s a good idea to put a couple of luggage straps around, to help prevent the case coming open.
  13. One of my students has one of these. They’re really, nice instruments.
  14. What DAW will you use? Personally I’d buy either a used MacBook Pro, or investigate a refurbished one. If you know someone who’s a student, see if you can buy one through them, Apple do some generous student discounts.
  15. Here’s a few more photos, taken outside this afternoon, whilst the bass was enjoying the early-summer sunshine.
  16. Thanks, probably a little out of my budget though 😊
  17. I think that’s wise. It’s a sad situation, but it’s out of everyone’s hands, and people’s health comes first.
  18. Given that social distancing will be with us for the foreseeable future, how many pubs will even bother booking bands, given that they’ll require the space for customers spending money.
  19. Just a few months old, it still has the plastic protection on the rear. In mint condition. I’m only selling because I need an interface with built-in midi. £100 including posting.
  20. I tried a few when Mark at Bassdirect first opened. Then there was a guy at ICMP who had a couple, they were amazing. That’s when I fell in love with them. I’m looking forward to seeing your bass when it arrives.
  21. Exactly the same as it’s always been. The UK is still in the single market and customs union.
