Their last tour featured quite a lot of older Genesis material. They’re one of those bands where people seem to like them based on when they started listening to them. My uncle gave me a cassette of Duke when I was a child, that’s the period I like. I don’t really get their early stuff at all, my brother does though. Their three sides live is excellent. It’s funny but I like Peter Gabriel, but only his solo work.

Anyone ever done this? Almost two years ago I recorded a friend of mine playing some flute pieces that I’d composed. I never got around to doing anything with them. Unfortunately he’s recently been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I’ve edited and arranged the recordings, and added some pIano to them, I now have five tracks that I’m planning on releasing via Bandcamp, with all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support. I want it to be as open and transparent as possible, preferably with all proceeds going direct to them, rather than to me and me having to pass it on. I’ve looked on Bandcamp and can’t see a way to do that. Has anyone else done this, how did you do it?

Buy new. Unless something is very new and relatively simple in design; the Line 6 doesn’t sound simple, therefore more to go wrong. Few things seem built to actually last nowadays.

It’s a weird thing this relic’ing. I’ve seen quite a few fifty year old plus instruments, they could pretty much have passed for being from this century. I do know that’s not always the case, but I think the abandoned in the garden shed for forty years look that some relics have is a little over the top.

You don’t mention how you’re going to play the songs. Not meaning to come across wrongly, but a memory stick is only a storage device, it won’t play the songs. Have you got a smart phone? If you have then download them onto that, then play them from that. You just need a mini jack from your headphone outlet into the mini jack aux in.

Music was the only thing I was ever really any good at. It was all I really wanted to do, I did A levels intending to be a vet, but my heart wasn’t in it though. Gigs just took over. Then I started teaching. Then 8 years ago I decided I wanted to teach music at a higher level, and get better as a musician, so I auditioned for ICMP and got a place on their BMus, which lead to me then going on to do a masters, now a PhD.

You have to sometimes. You should always put a 90 degree bend in the string before cutting it, that helps prevent it from unravelling. Allow about three turns around the tuner, bend the string then cut about a centimetre past the bend.

Previously we had the right to live, work, study, travel freely and retire in anyone of thirty counties, also to receive free medical care whilst there.
