  1. As others have said, it sounds like you’re hitting the pickups.
  2. They’ve probably been unpacked and put straight out on display. This is why I like Bass Direct. Everything I’ve ever played there has been looked at and setup prior to going on display. It might not be set up how I want it, but we’re all different. The Bass Gallery is the same.
  3. I’ve used a few of the McMillen midi controllers. They tend to be extremely well made, ignoring the QuNexus that became really sticky after just a few months. They seem to work best when used with a laptop or MacBook though. I had to buy a little interface thing when I was trying to operate an 0-Coast synth via midi using the QuNexus keyboard.
  4. Measure it so there’s about 7 or 8 centimetres past the tuner, make a bend in the string, then cut about a centimetre past that. The bent bit goes into the tuner. You only really need a couple or three wraps around the tuner.
  5. Has it got silk winding? I believe it’s ok as long as there is winding.
  6. Does he still have the Wal? My uncle gave me a whole load of guitar magazines, some going back to the very early 1980s. There’s one with Mick Karn and Midge Ure, Mick talks at length in it about his Wal.
  7. There’s a Jaydee owners club on Facebook. Might be worth posting on there?
  8. I had the same set all through uni, they’re incredible strings. They must have had thousands of hours use in that time, bearing in mind I was doing at least ten hours a day practice. The gauges do on paper seem odd, they’re incredibly well balanced though. The low B is something like .136, which seems really heavy compared to the low E, it feels right though.
  9. Still available. Trades are welcomed for 6 string basses, ideally another W&T Chronos. Preferably 33” scale.
  10. I like that. These are incredible basses.
  11. It’s quite an unusual looking one, I’ve only ever seen red ones. Have you contacted the guys at Jaydee? They might know the whereabouts of it now.
  12. I’ve never knowingly owned an instrument that had one. How common are they? I know Fodera use them. How do you tell if your instrument has one? I’ve been asked if the W&T I’m selling has one, I really have no idea though. I’ve sent Enrico at W&T a message via Facebook, thought I’d ask on here while I’m awaiting his reply.
  13. This is going way off topic I know, I apologise 😊. The architecture is my main reason for going in to churches, I love looking around them, the architecture and the sound too; the reverb etc. I’ve noticed also, especially in Europe, they’re more and more resembling art galleries which is really nice.
  14. Quite a few of the ‘Christians’ I know, seem to have quite a different outlook to my own perception of how a Christian should behave.
  15. I use Adblock, I don’t see any adverts, anywhere.
  16. It seems to be growing in popularity, I know a few people who do it. My very brief association with it was in 2015. It wasn’t a real church though, it was a unit just outside of the city centre. Really not what I was expecting at all.
  17. It was because I’m an atheist. It just didn’t feel right somehow......I was also slightly concerned that if there was anything to it, I might get struck by lightening 😁
  18. There’s some amazing gospel musicians, Andrew Gouche for instance. He played with Chaka Khan for quite a while. When I first left uni I was advertising my bass playing services. A church phoned me and asked if I’d be interested in playing at their services. I went along and auditioned, the head guy there was the drummer for the band. I was asked to join, they were paying me £50 for two hours on a Sunday morning, which was pretty nice. I went along the first week, just to sit and watch; bearing in mind I’d only ever been to church twice before then in my life, a wedding and a funeral. I felt such a charlatan though, I didn’t go again.
  19. Nice! He’s an absolutely fantastic player.
  20. Depends who the member is I guess. Level 42 with just Mark King would work. Equally Pink Floyd with just David Gilmour.
  21. No idea, I don’t think it’s one that Heinz do.
  22. According to the Standing in the shadows book, he was really well respected. They used to hire a standby bassist, but still booked him. If he wasn’t able to do the session himself, then the standby was there. He was still booked though, at least that’s what I read.
